The Blossoms would often tour with the Righteous Brothers in the 60's. This clip from the music show Shindig (1964-66), where both groups were regulars, and the music was live.

Yes, they did look like they were having fun. Some fabulous singers all on the same stage at once. It would definitely have been a wow moment for those lucky enough to have been there. Cheers for that one, Angela.

The Righteous Brothers are Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield. Bill is the baritone. Years after this, he performed the theme song for the Dirty Dancing movie, "The Time Of My Life". Bobby is the tenor. He is the one that sang "Unchained Melody".

Its Darlene Love who was also in the Crystals. Is a terrific singer. I'm a huge Righteous Brothers fan. Thank you for reacting to this great song. They were all on 🔥🔥🔥 FIRE. CCR(Creedence) did a great cover of this also. John Fogerty has the grit to do justice to this great song

Actually she was never in The Crystals, but she sang two of their biggest hits. Phil Spector hired Darlene Love and the Blossoms to record "He's a Rebel" to be credited to The Crystals when The Crystals weren't able to get from New York to L.A. fast enough for him to record and release it before Vickie Carr recorded her version. He did the same thing with "He's Sure the Boy I Love", although that time Darlene thought it was going to be released under her own group's name, he again released it as being by The Crystals. Those weren't the only times he screwed over The Crystals. On the album "The Crystals Sing the Greatest Hits" four of the songs are actually sung by The Ronettes! Darlene Love went on to be a very successful backup singer in at least a dozen hit songs, with such diverse artists as Frank Sinatra (That's Life), Johnny Rivers (Poor Side of Town), Boris Pickett (The Monster Mash), and even Elvis Presley on his 1968 TV comeback special.

I remember watching this on ..the their cover Ray Charles & Raylettes Classic..the Blossoms would always cover.current.songs on this popular music variety..when the actual singers weren't available..this was an awesome cover...add: that's the great Darlene Love..in there too.

The Blossoms were great underrated backing vocals of the time. They collaborated with Donny Brooks on a classic 1960 song called Mission Bell. Excellent Harmony. A fun song IMHO.

Huge fan of Bob and Bill since the start in 64. I know Darlene Love is a great singer but the other two Blossoms were incredible. Very impressed with all, such a great fun performance

Actually The Righteous Brothers were recording hits before 1964. In late '62 they did a song called "Little Latin Lupe Lu" which was written by Bill Medley and it hit the charts in '63. Since you are a fan I suggest you give it a listen if you haven't heard it. It was on the Moonglow label.

Although ABC had the ability to videotape their TV shows in 1964, this episode of “Shindig”, along with other episodes, appear to have been known kinescoped instead, because the conventional thinking at the television networks still was that Rock and Soul music were just passing fads. Boy, were they wrong!
