My wife and I just drove through this area a couple days ago. We want to go back one day and spend some time there. Is the campground big 5th wheel accessible?

I'm not 100% sure. There were large Class C motor homes and trucks with campers and regular sized trailers as some of the spot are very large. If you were to drive in from Essex its all paved to the campground entrance. Coming from Kelso its rough dirt road and not advisable. Hope this helps.

What month do you think is the best to go if you pitch a tent? Have you also been to Mid Hills?

Depends on how cold you can stand. I'd say March-April is best, early 1st two weeks of May are ok but check the weather. June -end of Sept probably too hot. If you do a tent remember it gets really windy here, especially in the afternoon 20-30 with gusts higher, make sure your tent can stand it, most fiberglass pole family tents will snap. I haven't been to mid hills but drove right by it on our way to Hole in the Wall Campground. It looks a little more desolate and not as pretty as the canyon walls are not in view when the sun sets. Hope this helps. Oh one more thing... check the current road conditions, alot has been washed out this year but also alot has been repaired already, check with the Mojave Preserve website. Good Luck, its really pretty out there.

@@Anthonysaudiojournal Thx. Desert camping can be tough bc you have to find the sweet spot for the weather. Have you been to Joshua Tree? That's always nice and probably my favorite desert camping. But been wanting to check out the Mojave Preserve.

Is there overflow or guest parking at or around each campsite? I'm heading there with a travel trailer and tow vehicle but wife and kids are driving up separately in another vehicle.

I can't really remember but I'm pretty sure there is parking adjacent to the spots. In our trip we drove two vehicles, a big Tahoe and my Jeep and don't remember having any problems, guess it depends on what site you get. Here is a link to the Campsite Photos website for Hole in the Wall. www.campsitephotos.com/campground/ca/hole-in-the-wall/ You can look at every camp spot. Here is an additional link for a video of a drive-thru of the sites. www.google.com/search?sca_esv=3cf5305f7235dc23&sca_upv=1&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS951US951&sxsrf=ADLYWIJef7mWHX3_nuwOYqpH4v89mM0MNw:1715982878147&q=hole+in+the+wall+campground&tbm=vid&source=lnms&prmd=ivsnbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiY3ZGv1pWGAxUfIUQIHSPeCTgQ0pQJegQIDxAB&biw=1839&bih=952&dpr=1#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:4c2df6c7,vid:lvnXZcm-S8M,st:0
