Am working in airworthiness certification in France. Can confirm certification by Europe's EASA and US' FAA won't be easy for the Comac aircrafts. On the other end, they do have strong support of the Chinese airworthiness authority (CAAC), but tbh it's the same for Airbus and Boeing with their local authorities. But CAAC is also acquiring information from Airbus and Boeing by using political pressure : they were asking to see more technical data than necessary to validate A320neo certification, and threatening "otherwise reviewing the info to publish the certificate miiiight take a bit more time" [insert South-Park "we're sorry" meme]. As most of Airbus and Boeing's market openings come from Chinese companies, delaying certification will delay delivery of airplanes and thus provoke commercial & logistical issues.

Especially considering how badly Boeing is doing with their new airplanes. 787 program was supposed to be 6 billion but turned out way late and 32 billion. 787 had so many production problems (especially out of the NC plant and they close the Everett production). and the 777x and 737 max have been so messed up, and such horrible decisions on the 737 max for expediency, and outright lies. Boeing has changed so much....become like McD. With such a massive market internally, and if China can create a good economical plane, they can get production up with production for internal use, and this can demonstrate that the plane does the job very well and has excellent safety record...this will make it hard for US and EU not to certify them. It also means that China will understand the support needs, and it will be much easier to expand support worldwide. I suspect this is how Airbus became successful...state airlines were encouraged to use AIrbus, and it became hard for the US not to certify the Airbus given its record.

This is a very interesting video. A lot of what I have seen coming out of China video wise is bad news talking about all their multiple conflicts. If they are true I can’t see this company being around for long due to the aviation industry being a very expensive industry to be in. But time will tell. Also, I think the bias that Chinese products are built cheaper may not translate well to them exporting it. But with Boeing’s past fails, there is a power void to be filled.

Being an aviation student I believe China is missing the big picture. Small regional jets are dominated by embraer, and bombardier. Boeing and airbus will handle the 737 seating capacity as well as the 290+. What is needed is a middle market hey such as the 767 which seats anywhere from 210-290 passengers. That’s the biggest segment that if full filled it would mean western orders and European orders

That would be true IF China and the Western world were starting from scratch developing commercial airliner businesses. In real life, Chinese aviation is starting to compete with companies that have huge factories already built and paid off, with many years of experience, and worldwide logistical operations and thousands of already trained and well-supplied maintenance people throughout the world. Producing a new model of aircraft involves huge investments that Airbus and Boeing have already made.

If reverse engineering is the case then why doesn’t anyone else have planes?
@alexaltrichter15974 жыл бұрын
@@donkeykong516 It boils down to money. Large countries like China have the capital to take on projects like this. It takes millions and millions of dollars to simply copy what another country has already produced but it takes billions and billions to produce that same aircraft from the ground up. I'm not talking about tires and engines so much as the actual airframe. All the components going into an aircraft take tens of thousands of hours of testing and engineering . Reverse engineering is way cheaper. Do you think China cares about US patents or French patents. The short answer is no.

Funny thing is that most technology is based on what China developed. And it is fine to reverse engineer a product, but you better be sure you pay for the rights to any patents you use, or develop something that is not covered by a patent. Otherwise you are open to lawsuits, and you can be certain that every inch of the plane will be checked during certification, and afterwards other companies will be looking to see if their patents were used. Why is this so hard for people to understand. They just listen to propaganda and repeat the BS without thinking.
