Evolution is one of the most important factions of all time. It was easy to hate them. It helped made Triple H gained even more heel heat while Flair got his groove back and turned Orton and Batista into household name plus they had an iconic theme song as well. Evolution was an unstoppable force that changed WWE forever.

Wow! Great video! Evolution's rise is one of the biggest highlights of the Ruthless Aggression Era. Even though they got off to a rocky start, they were able to find their footing towards the end of 2003 and into 2004. I know that 2003 Raw often brings to mind Triple H's Reign of Terror, but seeing the likes of Orton and Batista rise to prominence is a positive in my opinion.

Evolution was such a good faction. Unlike most faction it did it's job with getting everyone in it over. It made orton and batista stars and brought back the version of Ric Flair everyone missed. Also a lot of Triple H's matches at this time were really good too. Looking back and knowing what evolution's whole purpose was, making orton and batista stars, It makes Triple H's world title runs at that time a lot better.

A small detail I wonder is if Batista and Randy Orton weren't injured in that house show vs the Dudleys, they may've been stars quickly ? Idk for a fact but it's quite a thought Also I can say that Batista was sort of buried in 2003 as that was supposed to be his monstrous year but it was hauled mainly do that injury

In 2003 I was six believing Booker t was winning at Wrestlemania 19 he had all the momentum and the build up told a good story as well but back in the early 2,000's wwe refuse to let wcw guys go over wwe guys.

Goldberg went over a lot of people and made evolution his bitch, Steiner was really bad at that time, booker should've won i agree, rey was in a good place, Eddie Guerrero was a world champ, jericho was world champ, and they unfortunately didn't have anything for ddp. Nash said he wanted to put HHH over.

@@cerebralassassin2185 On Smackdown, everyone was fed to Lesnar. And yes, on Raw, everyone was fed to Goldberg. DDP was European champ before he left. Not surprising for Nash being fine putting him over. HHH put him over in the 96 rumble and the lumberjack match late 95. The business is about giving it back. HHH put over Booker 2-3 times in 2002 as a babyface, and 2x as a heel in 02, and 2x as a heel in 03. And he shouldn't had, nor was Booker going to win at WM19. HHH was due for his win against him. And even besides that Bruce Pritchard said Vince long term wanted a HHH/Goldberg clash. A face of the franchise bout for the strap. So he booked HHH to go over most of the ecw and wcw guys (Rvd, Steiner, Booker, Nash); and Goldberg was booked to go over the WWE made guys (Rock, Y2J (before you say he was in in WcW too. He sure was, like Austin, HHH, Undertaker, Foley all were. But it wasn't until their time in WWF were they made into top world champ stars), Orton, before eventually going having HHH fed to him. The plan was for HHH to hold the title until Goldberg, who would defeat him for it.

In a way the faction benefited all 4 men. HHH became one of the greatest in ring workers and one of the greatest world champions. Ric Flair became more goated for 6 more years. We already know about Randy & Batista as they became 2 of the biggest stars of the RA Era and future hall of famers.

@@MR.__G First he was against Evolution. Vince hates groups. HHH had to work hard to get his idea green lighted. Thankfully, Hayes, Arn and Flair loved the idea and supported him. Vince wanted Jindrak in the group. HHH was set on who he wanted. When Batista was hurt, Vince brought Jindrak up again, this time, not as a fifth member, but a replacement for Batista. HHH said no. He was going to wait for both his guys to recover from being injury prone. Then Vince, impatient, wanted to nix the group altogether rolling into WM19. HHH refused, still waiting for his guys. Evolution would not be dropped, just tabled. Vince rushed the Randy main event push.

@@MR.__G Vince, as I said, hates groups. He hated "Gang Warfare of the 90s" with DOA, Boriquas, NOD, DX. He hated DX. Just like he didn't like the Austin character. He admitted he didn't understand what the fans loved about them. What Vince only loved was the ratings he got out of it and merch money he made from it, not the acts themselves. Have you not read any articles with HHH, his book, DX book, podcast eps where talks about Vince often fussing him and Shawn out about the shit they did in DX, threatening to fire them, and potentially being thrown off air? It wasn't until they mocked USA's letter with the Clinton Administration when USA expressed to Vince how they loved it. That's when Vince let up and let HHH loose. Most groundbreaking things, Vince never likes. The network and fans' reaction force his hand and he begrudgingly embraces it. Cena and Roman are the exceptions. Fans have rejected these forced fed faces of the company a collective 15 years, yet he still pushed them to the top. It got so bad that the beloved, Don heel HHH was getting cheered over them. Fans LOVE to hate HHH. But when paired up against Cena or Roman, it's a 90-10 swing in fan support of HHH. No, Jindrak was never "suppose to be in." This was HHH'S group, and HHH'S picks. Vince wanted Jindrak in once he warmed up to the idea of a group again. But he was never supposed to be in.

And in early 02, neither Cena or Batista, or even Randy were getting pushed. Nor did they have characters worth trying to. Neither did Lesnar really. But because he had the size Vince liked and a amateur background (albeit no where near Kurt's level though), as bland as he is, with Heyman's help, he got the super push. There was no automatic "they were gonna push Cena or Batista." They weren't providing any "IT factor" to him in their current state. Cena actually was about to get fired if Stephanie didn't politic to convince her father to give Cena another chance with his rap gimmick.
