Wait... People don't like this opening? I would watch this opening on loop for hours if I could. It's. So. Cool. (tbh after he killed all these Vader loyalist and the noise dies down and you hear his breathing a lot which probably meant to signal him tapping into the force to locate the Wayfinder but I thought we'd get a force bond and I was Hella excited. Imagine rey seeing him surrounded by corpses. Maybe that would make him feel slightly guilty or ashamed... Setting up... Some conflict... For... Idk... A redemption...) Also yeah. It gets better with every viewing. You just gotta swallow palpatine and rey palpatine and it gets kinda fun. (apart from the ending cause nah I won't ever forgive them for killing Ben solo) okay this was long woah. Great video, loved watching that scene again!

J.J. Abrams should seriously consider in watching "The Return of the Jedi." Anakin Skywalker fulfilled his destiny by destroying the sith. Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) threw the sith lord down the reactor shaft of the death star to save his son's life. Rian Johnson made a big mistake in killing the main villain in episode 8. J.J. Abrams should have redone episode 8 and call it "The Lost Jedi, " to distinguish the difference between the two movies, and release it in December 2018. Han Solo is found alive by Rey, Finn, Chewbacca, and Captain Phasma. Captain Phasma is shocked, to say the least, when he tells her how he got there. Ben gets redeemed and comes home to his family in "The Lost Jedi." Snoke could have been just a hologram. We do not see Snoke, in person, until episode 9. That is when he gets cut in half by the legendary Skywalker light saber. Rey is the daughter of the son of Lor San Tekka and his wife. Rey is also the granddaughter of the daughter of Obi Wan Kenobi and Duchess Satina Kruze. When Rey's mother, Elena, was two years old she got kidnapped by Palpatine because he found out that she is the daughter of a Jedi master. In the hopes to turn her to the dark side. But his plan is ruined because she was kidnapped by Lor San Tekka and given back to her parents or up for adoption. That is the way the movie should have been.

I actually share the criticism of this movie, the opening is not really convoluted as people say it is. But it moves too fast, that I can agree on. Also because that opening is the only thing we get from the Prequels and that is Mustafar, like, could we at least have a little scene of Kylo Ren walking into the Vader's fortress? That would be cool. I did like the fact that Snoke is just a creation of Palpatine used to manipulate the Skywalker's and turn Ben evil.

I had no problems understanding what was going on. Details like Whar was Mustafar and why or how Palpy was alive, I figured out from SW fan videos and looking it up. But the I got the gist of the film just fine. I also argue with the fact that it’s fetch question. It’s actually the final arc is a character study of Rey and Ben. But mostly Rey.

Gorgeous video, as always. The moments with Kylo Ren/Ben were definitely the best one from this movie, but let's face it, probably all of us would have been more than happy with two hours of Ben Solo plulling his Solo boy stunts. Adam Driver was given ten minutes as Ben Solo and no dialogue and gave more intensity and heart to his character than others did in the complete trilogy.

There's still two things that bother me about the movie. One is nitpicky(calling the holocrons wayfinders) and one is major (killing off Ben). Besides that I can't really find other things I don't like about the movie. I really understand why those choices were made. Maybe I'll go watch it a third time cuz it's a fun ride. Edit: when I say that Ben's death botheres me, I don't mean that I don't understand it and I think it's a bad thing storywise, but that I feel like it would be far more interesting to see him actually making a life for himself, fighting his past and gaining the forgiveness of the others. That would be an amazing twist. And of course, because Reylo is the core of this trilogy for me and adds many things to the mythos.

Just finished watching it for the first time, really happy how they resolved Kylo Rens character. Even the part when after he turns he is jumping into exogal and just goes "ow" -since he is obviously less powerful as he is not getting his power from the dark side. Also the bit with Luke was brilliantly done. He speaks of him having fear, which I find he always lacked in the originals, and instead was influenced by the dark side through hate and anger. Just my opinion the good part far exceed the bad ones

I just gotta say that I love your channel and star wars fans like you are what give me hope for star wars. Disney did not kill star wars and star wars isn't dead. The ST may not be perfect but we have so much other good content coming out alongside it. The Mandalorian, Fallen Order, Clone Wars season 7, BF2 getting huge updates and even Revan was made canon. I still think maybe Disney should re-evaluate their plan for the star wars movies so things don't get too hectic but I pray the actors for the ST main cast don't let a few let downs taint their career.

He survived because of his contingency plan. The blue light you seen come up in the death star was time portal, that shot him into another part of the galaxy, and the electricity he let out gave him the boost to make it happen. Most likely where he was on the sith planet of Exogol. Its explained in the books. He also had an observatory on Jakuu that kept him in touch with Rey. So he knew what she was doing at all times. I really hoped Rey wouldve turned to the dark side, that wouldve made the movie classic. It would've been a move as shocking as the Vader father scene and would've made Poe, finn that much more important by helping bring her back into the light. The movie shouldve ended with finn rising up, to kill palpatine being that hes the offspring of Mace Windu and getting the girl (rey or rose). It has been revealed he's force sensitive.

Honestly, it threw me off that after Rey stabs him with his own weapon, she gives it back to him. If she was going to spare him I would think she'd keep the saber (or destroy it), take his TIE, and leave him there with nothing but his own thoughts. Essentially that's how he ends up anyways since he throws it away minutes later regardless. It was just there for the sybolism which still could have worked if Rey had destroyed it (cut it in half) and left it on the floor. It's not important but it's one of several things in the movie that made me go "wait, wut?"

Palps transfer his conscious to his own dead body. Love this! Respecting the already canon, Palpatine went for snoke, kill him and clone him. A was sure of that in 8 because of his ring. It had the 4 sages to dwarti. Then he use him and controlled him to manage things. There is a lot of clues in episode 7 that gives us the answer. I always thought that Palps controlled snoke because everything snoke appear on screen in episode 7, Palpatine music played. And others clues ...

Im so glad you enjoy the movie more than you originally did. After i saw it, i was blown away and unable to digest all the stuff in this messy movie. After thinking about it for a few days i can say i really like this movie even though i dont agree with some of its decisions. Also kylo kicking ass on mustafar is one of my all time favorite scenes!

Glad you are finding more to like about this movie. I’ve only seen it once and I’m debating whether to go back one more time to the theater or just wait until it’s out on video. But I did enjoy your breaking down the scene and explaining more of it. I think it is a real shame that they cut out so many key aspects of the beginning, like clarifying Kylo was on Mustafar. I will look forward to your Ben Solo video. I still think it’s a big mistake that they killed off this character. But I already knew there was a strong possibility they would do so. It’s just such a disappointment IMO.

If there is one thing that this trilogy connects well into eachother is the theme of legacy. In TFA kylo is trying to live up to his grandfathers evil legacy cause that’s what he thought was greatest. In TLJ we learn that Luke’s legacy was overplayed, telling us that the legacy of a person is far greater than the person himself which served has a good reflection to the audience as well since we always saw Luke in the same way the galaxy did. And in ROTS it’s about Rey coming to terms with her legacy and not being afraid of it and I really like that theme of the ST

He was finally vulnerable to allow her to choose instead of taking. He waited for her to kiss him and returned the affection passionately. In the end Rey got everything that Ben would have wanted her to have anyways if they had gotten together earlier in life or under better circumstances, it was destiny: his parents and family, the ship, the saber, and even his life. This story is about love. I can live with it now.

My first viewing: felt fast, but I could follow it decently well Really liked the film 2nd viewing: even easier to follow Loved the film more, especially after it had marinated with me since the first movie 3rd viewing: same as second, and caught a few little tidbits here and there that I hadn’t in the first two viewings Loved the movie I personally enjoy how everything connects well in this movie. Were there two transports in the Chewie scene? Yep. It all works and is backed up. And the things that didn’t get necessarily answered in the film (palatines exact return details).... I’m okay with it. It doesn’t break the film, personally, for me

My problem with Palpatine being in this movie as is relevant to this video is that the revelation all of this was Palpatine’s doing robs the characters of some agency. It makes some of the most impactful moments like Rey and Kylo’s bond, Kylo killing Han etc and really the previous two movies in general feel a bit pointless since it was all bound to happen under Palpatine’s watchful eye. In anticipation of the counterargument that regardless of whether Snoke or Palpatine were the puppet master, Kylo was still being manipulated, I see the intent as different based on which character holds the card. Were Snoke an independent being as he was in The Last Jedi, he is authentically mentoring Kylo in the dark side by berating him and convincing him he needs to snuff all light within him out in order to become who he was meant to be vs Palpatine setting him on a (convoluted) path that ultimately leads to Palpatine’s/Rey’s rule and not towards Kylo’s development into a truly powerful Sith lord.

I’m looking forwards to seeing all the stuff they cut out, and show us as extra scenes. They sometimes get dropped for pacing reasons. I really loved this movie, despite it’s problems, and there are a few. I wanted a proper Star Wars movie, and I feel that I got one. Enough said.

I preferred Snoke when he was his own villain. He got cheated because of how Rian fucked up, but you could’ve easily swapped Palps roll with Snoke. He made clones of himself and the one in TLJ was one of them.

I don’t think he had to die though, like I get it makes his redemption tragic, as is the Skywalker fate-but that ruins ALL the potential future Ben Solo stuff.

As you mentioned Kylo being used as a tool of the dark side, I'd love to hear your thoughts/analysis on his character arc in the movie/ST. If Palpatine has been every voice in his head all his life, what does that tell us about his motivations, free will and choices? Was he also used as plot device in TROS? At the star of TROS his plan is the same as in TLJ, to rule the galaxy with Rey but then he's pulled to the light by those who cared for him most (somehow only missing is Luke's role in this). It would be great to hear your view on how redemption was handled and its ending with his death, how this makes sense in the SW universe... He never was a full on evil villain, rather a conflicted, manipulated fallen prince and ending his story with death is a tragic wast of a fantastic complex character. Or just lazy easier-way-out writing...

In my subsequent viewings the 3 things I didn't enjoy are: - Rey being retconned to be a Palpatine (in the end it doesn't matter because of the themes of chosen family and creating your own path from both TLJ and TROS). - Rose being sidelined. Kelly Marie Tran deserved better. - The clunky pacing. This is a movie of great moments but the way the movie goes from point A to point B is clunky. These are my gripes with the movie but at the end of the day, I find more to like than to dislike so in the end it's still a solid B+ for me.

Great vid as always. On my first viewing, I couldn't believe how much we were getting within the first 5-6mins, although admittedly it looked amazing. If you were just a regular moviegoer, would you be confused that Palpatine was back without explanation? Would you know that Mustafar was on armed by Vader loyalists or understand exactly what Exegol was? The nuances of the story and of the characters were lost eg if the viewer realised that Kylo was fighting Vader loyalists, not just innocent inhabitants it would adjust the lens in how Kylo was regarded? It just felt like it was A to B to C to D to do X and Y to get Z. Also.... live chat about Ben at some point? :DDD

I thought the movie was awesome! I saw several early spoiler free reviews that pointed at the first hour being too fast and difficult to follow. However I thought it was great. To me it was showing things "in progress" and emphasizing a lot of time has passed since The Last Jedi. It put more emphasis on the opening crawl to set the tone and then went full force.

Just saw the movie, it was pretty good. I saw the spoilers though. Not gonna lie, it kind of made the experience better. Such as on Kylo Ren's ship, when he reveals that there is a spy to his commanders, I knew Hux was the spy, and I actually feared that he was going to die. It made the film more tense, funny enough though, when Ben and Rey kissed, a girl in the audience said "EEEEWWWWW!" really loudly, and it made the entire audience laugh. Then Ben started to cry/laugh and fucking died. I just lost it.
