From Wikopedia "In 2012, Durham was sentenced to 50 years in prison in connection with a Ponzi scheme that defrauded 5,400 investors, many of them elderly, of approximately $216 million, according to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.[3] "

The offices of Obsidian and Fair Finance were raided by federal agents in 2009, suspected of involvement in a Ponzi scheme. Durham was arrested in 2011.[7] On June 20, 2012; an Indianapolis jury convicted Durham of 10 counts of wire fraud, one count of securities fraud, and one count of conspiracy to defraud. On November 30, 2012; he was sentenced to 50 years in prison-at his age, effectively a life sentence.[8] While he faced a maximum of 225 years under sentencing guidelines, federal district judge Jane Magnus-Stinson said there was no point in handing down a sentence that long.[9] Nonetheless, Joe Hogsett, the U. S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, called it the longest sentence ever imposed for a white-collar offense in Indiana history.[8] On September 4, 2014, a federal appeals court overturned two of 10 wire fraud counts against Durham and ordered a new sentencing hearing, saying prosecutors failed to enter some key evidence into the trial record.[10] On June 26, 2015, Durham had his 50-year sentence reinstated. Magnus-Stinson said that "the huge number of victims and the amount of devastation" left little reason to reduce the original sentence. He is serving his sentence at United States Penitentiary, McCreary in McCreary County, Kentucky;[11] He was also sentenced to two years' supervised release, but this was largely academic given the likelihood that he will die in prison. His earliest possible release will be February 1, 2056-when he will be 94 years old.

The problem is when you become so rich that you can afford to buy lawmakers and politicians creating a system that is by design highly corrupt and immoral ,yet still within the law . And politicians nowadays can be bought so cheaply . The guy isLaws created to favour the rich and throwing the working class into a cycle of desperation and poverty that is nearly impossible to overcome legally . That’s happening at an alarming rate with stagnant wages and hurdles and blocks along our path to personal prosperity is prohibitively difficult for the poor while the ultra rich can buy just about anything on their way to hyper rich , and that is immoral and unfair it also comes at a great cost for society in general . Criminality on the lower levels is a product of that unjust distribution of wealth .
@timward3116 Жыл бұрын
Of course, if you make your money from killing people within legal parameters, you make as you can and want as well. Laws can be bought and politicians bribed. Who has the right to decide? That's the question of a philosophical imbecile, an addict, or a sociopath.

A Russian woman landed in her private jet with her baby in Monaco. She realized she had left the baby's listening device back in Russia and asked an assistant who " gets" things for the rich, to please get her the listening device. That assistant said no problem I will go and get you a new one right away. The Russian woman said no, no I want the one I left back at my home in Russia. The assistant had to get on a plane and fly to Russia to pick up the baby's listening device and bring it back to Monaco.
