The Rise of WOKE Fascism

The word fascism conjures up black and white images of massive military parades of goose stepping fascists in Germany, Spain and Italy. You probably don't think of rainbow flags and Democratic presidents giving the NYPD permission to crush college kids protesting. But that is where we are at in 2024 - where fascism comes to the west draped in a rainbow flag while claiming to protect progressive values from illiberal elements.

Zionists conveniently ignore: -Israel doesn't have marriage equality, or even secular marriage. -The religious weirdos in Netanyahu's coalition are also openly homophobic. -Queer Palestinians are treated just as bad as any other Palestinians -In the West Bank IDF and Israeli intelligence blackmail queer Palestinians to force them into being collaborators

yeah definitely; it just means you have to contextualize and approach it differently depending on the identity of the person in question if you want to redress it; i.e. Black supremacism is NOT a mirror image or counterpart of white supremacy and it shoulnd't be regarded or treated in the same way, that's all; I'm just wary of this reactionary carping on 'identity politics' which is a pretty vague broad thing

The huge glaring difference you're too dense to see? Someone will be prosecuted by the law if they kill a person because they're gay in Israel. This is called a hate crime. In Gaza literally one of the leaders of Hamas Ishtiwi was brutally tortured and executed even considered part of one of the "royal families of Hamas" because he was suspected of being gay. i am so tired of seeing comments saying that "Palestine is homophobic" as if it's some sort of gotcha moment. people are really acting like there aren't any LGBTQ+ Palestinians, and that every single Palestinian thinks exactly the same way on the topic. we have been constantly told this idea that Palestine, and many other countries where Islam is the main religion, are just places where 100% of the population are bigoted extremists. like it's such a stupid and unintelligent argument with absolutely no understanding of nuance and basic common sense. but people who believe that shit don't see Palestinians as real human beings that are of equal value to Israelis. people are really out here living in the UK and the USA where anti-LGBTQ+ hate is alive and kicking, and then make this stupid argument with no evidence to back up what they're saying. and to even believe that a group of people that they have decided is homophobic therefore deserves to be targeted and slaughtered like this is just disgusting. there are some truly heartless people out there. anyway, free Palestine🇵🇸

One of the things that has kept me out of things like racism and general bigotry in my life is the realization that any demographic being 100% evil would be an incredible statistical anomaly, and therefore can't ever be taken seriously if you want to be truly intellectually honest. At all times it is vital to remember the people who suffer under the systems they live under in foreign countries. Capitalism itself is the main thing stopping a lot of liberal minded people from seeing the bigger picture, if you view foreign lands as merely a vacation resort that you want to go and experience and go to the beaches and have parties and go to pride parades you will view this conflict in terms of how progressive and great Israel is for having gay bars and pride parades in Tel Aviv, vs the Palestinians with their poorer infrastructure and no beach resorts, a western liberal can’t see themselves vacationing in Palestine, so they are fine if it gets bulldozed and Israel builds beachfront hotels in the ruins of Gaza they can then vacation in

Demographic and economic realities, combined with a much better infrastructure for information about abortion, which means that people are more likely to overturn the state's mandate. There's also a fundamental difference between how the Islamic world developed, compared to how the Christian/Western European world developed. Christianity has nowhere near the financial or political influence as Islam has on the population it holds its grip over. The very nature of Islamic doctrine and dogma makes it extremely difficult for any sort of tradition of cynicism or anti-religious movement to take foot.

I've never heard ANYONE in my lifetime say that Arabs, Muslims, or South Asians in general are subhuman. The absolute worst I've heard is that the Arabs' BEHAVIOR is savage, and that they don't care about being SEEN as subhuman. You can call that dog-whistling if you want, but the Nazis literally said that Arabs were "half-monkeys," which I have never personally heard anyone say.

I agree with pretty much every single point made in this video, but I do have one issue with it. Why is it that everything has to be "Fascism"? Why is it that every aspect of authoritarianism, populism, racism, xenophobia, or a mix of them all, has to be Fascism? I know it is pointed out that Fascism today will be "different", but if it is simply just very similar to aspects of authoritarianism and xenophobia witnessed before why do we have to call it Fascism? It is a genuine question - why does this separate itself from those other terms? Looking at the most prolific Fascist movements of the interwar period, what was defining for most of them is that he had comprehensive ideologies and at least proclaimed to have ideas for massive societal change, including youth movements, fleshed out ideologies and big changes to the socio.economic system. Not simply someone who is xenophobic, conservative and/or wants to protect capitalism. So, why, if modern movements are so different from previous movements, should we call them by the same name?

i dont think fascism *needs* to protect capital, but that's what it ends up doing anyway. and it doesnt matter what their "fleshed out" economic policies were. just like in practice, "libertarian" free market economics end up in the same social conservative economic policies, likewise fascism just ends up helping capital. "So, why, if modern movements are so different from previous movements, should we call them by the same name?" i dont think they're THAT different. obviously israeli fascism is gonna have an israeli flag, root their ultra nationalism in israeli history, and not fly a nazi flag and root it in german history 🙄
@arvidsky
@arvidsky 23 күн бұрын
@@alex_roivas333 I understand your points and I am inclined to agree, but not entirely. I have studied interwar Fascism quite a bit and tend to use that as a basis to understand, and thus label, Fascism. Also, the interwar Fascist movements tended to vary widely, with a lot of ongoing discussion of what actually qualified as Fascism - and what kind of Fascism it would then be. (Salazar's Portugal, for example, is generally not considered to be a Fascist state by experts in the field despite him often being labeled as a Fascist) I had not thought about Israel here, but have looked at Trumpism and Putin's regime in this light, examining to what extent they can be classified as Fascism (according to the definition(s) we get from the Interwar movements). And there are some very big differences between them. I guess The Identitarian Movement is something that more mimics old-school Fascism, with the exception of having a more "liberal" economic political outlook. And for the point of "economic ideology not matching de facto economics = ideology doesn't matter", would you then draw distinct parallels between state socialist/communist regimes, whose policies ended up benefitting the elite with authoritarian non-socialist states, whose systems ended up being quite similar? Say Stalin's USSR and Nguema's Equatorial Guinea? Despite some similarities, I think that it is important to also look at the distinctions and that is why it may make sense to still treat these ideological leanings as separate. For example, Neo-Conservatist Economics vis-a-vis Fascist oligarchal capitalism. They may be quite similar in how they function, but the ideas behind the systems and the ways they impact society can be distinct. I am simplifying things here to keep it short and I may be using some terms incorrectly.

I know you've addressed it in the video but I'd like to weigh in on the clarification: I'm not personally inclined to the usage of the term "woke" as a denotation here due to the prevalence of its appropriation and cooptation by certain elements of reactionaries out there, who masquerade their own agenda by blending inside the contemporary left-wing anti-imperialist cause right now. Everyone here could just call it fascism, or the so-called "rainbow imperialism" for that matter because the term woke will always evoke leftist connotation no matter what, as it originally denoted the Black people's sentiment against slavery, racial injustice and White supremacy in the past. To coopt the language and the aesthetic of left-wing politics e.g. progressivism, socialism and communism has always been the fundamental characteristic of fascism in the first place. That's why Benito Mussolini, initially a self-proclaimed Marxist who started out as a cadre of the then-Italian Socialist Party, was able to rise into power by promoting fascism as a syncretism between highly filtered socialist/syndicalist principles and crude ultranationalism. For that same reason as well, the Nazi Germany was initially giving platform for the non-Aryan and queer outcasts inside several provisional government positions as a form of token representation. Ultimately, it was all nothing but a mere performance with one of the purposes as a political deception against the USSR, especially on the Nazi Germany part.
@wasserperson
@wasserperson 23 күн бұрын
There's plenty of ways to name/describe the things he's describing without using "woke" at all. Pseudo-progressive, transactional tokenizing, "homonationalism" ( I have concerns of my own with that term but it's been used in some very strong work on this exact topic, since the early 00s at least )

As a white British revert Muslim who spent years studying Islam before becoming muslim. I am so tired of people attacking Muslims. I was raised by my mother to never judge people based on their gender, race, religion and sexual preference but their character and personality, their actions and not their words. So it irritates me that people whether they be atheist, Christian, Jewish etc be so hateful towards a religion they willingly choose not to understand. I personally only follow the Quran and not the Hadiths bc I find them questionable and contradictory of the Quran itself even though some Muslims will reject me for stating this and that okay. I fully believe there is a God, a creator and there is a purpose for the life, I believe we will be judged by God for our actions. And what makes me a Muslim and not a Christian or Jewish person is I believe Muhammad pbuh is the final messenger. That’s why I’m Muslim that is what I believe. I don’t ever force my beliefs on others, I don’t think less of anyone for not being Muslim. I’m very much an each to their own person. I respect everyone’s free will, I enjoy people for their hearts and souls, I have Christian, Jewish, atheist and even gay friends and gay family members because they are good compassionate people who always go out of their way to make me feel comfortable and are very respectful and even protective of my religion. They are very considerate and I’m respectful of the way they choose to live their lives. It just hurts that some conservatives always use Islam to spread fear and hatred and they always spread false and misleading information about us. Like I said I’m very much for free will that’s how God made us, to choose our own paths whether good or bad, right or wrong. I would never force my beliefs on someone or make them feel inferior for their choices, I’m just sooooo tired of being painted to be this evil boogeyman everyone should be afraid of. I know there are some bad individuals that claim they are Muslims but disrespect Islam by not following its teachings in the Quran, but there’s nearly 2 billion Muslims in the world and it’s still growing. Islam has saved my life, stopped my anxiety and depression given me understanding of my purpose in this life and people actually scare me with the amount of hatred in their hearts. Women are getting harassed and attacked for wearing hijabs and it breaks my heart. Sorry for rambling it’s just the guy in the headphones wearing the hoodie talking about immigrants and Islam just irked me.
