I fell in love with this song the minute I heard it. I love Future Funk and City Pop. I honestly wish she would promote in Japan and release Japanese versions too.

I think promoting in Japan could be in the cards for her, as it makes too much sense to do so.

I've never heard of her before. But I do agree about the idea of longevity in part to targeting a more mature audience. Artists that are able to captivate the older demographic tend to be spoken about more in the general public. Considering the adults make up most of the General Public conversation separate from the trendy younger audience online. Also, "Plastic Love" last year did get me into more 80s Japanese music and the closely related chillwave music.

Yeah I discovered Kika from Real girls project from like two years back. Also she did amazing on her debut stage 'Neon' which she sold in casettes and vinyl records of her then brand new single.
@Popsori5 жыл бұрын
A man of culture, I see. I'm thinking you're one of the earlier ones that knew about Yukika, good stuff. As for her cassettes and vinyl records for "Neon," I picked up a 'Neon' cassette and CD when I was in Korea a couple months ago.

Hello Popsori! I'm new to your channel, it's so Great to see others promoting Yukika ;D She is definitely one of my top favorite solo artists along with Rothy, MAIL and Minseo. I really don't think we need to worry about Yukika's future at all ; ] I strongly believe ESTIMATE Entertainment knows what they are doing. Yukika's got FIRE, she's very hungry for the Entertainment Industry, just about born into it with the many skills she has under her belt, like modeling, acting and voice acting (as you've already mentioned in your video) and now she's conditioned to being a Kpop star, with ability to perform choreography with fellow group members (Real Girl's Project days) and vocal training. As a solo artist, I believe she can take her experiences as far as to the stars ;D ESTIMATE has made very great decisions on their Song and MV producers: NEON's song producers were OREO, whom specialize in that nostalgic sound, and other styles. You can hear their styles in songs like LOONA's Rain 51db, and Lovelyz's Shooting Star. Cherries Jubiles was produced by members of the one and only, MonoTree (LOONA). Both NEON and Cherries Jubiles MV Producers were made by DigiPedi, well known for about 98% of LOONA's MV's, and such recent (2019) works that you probably didn't have any idea unless you've kept up with DigiPedi: Heize's - We Don't Talk Together; TXT - Nap of a Star; (G)-Idle - Uh-Oh; IZ*One - Violeta; Rothy - Bee With that said, with the many similarities to LOONA's production teams, I thought it a good idea to alert many of the Loona Fans (aka, the Orbits) to Yukika, but it seems they have already taken notice, and very quickly too! I love how informative your channel is, and now I must watch all of your videos XD Thank You! ^ ^ノ - ps, sorry for long comment, but I just had to share everything from my mind, lol

Welcome K 1! Quite a long comment and I love it! I like how you mentioned Minseo, MAIL, and Rothy. It's funny you mentioned Rothy, since she's one of the upcoming videos. As for Yukika, glad to hear that she'll be doing well. When I heard "Neon," I was thinking "are they really bringing back City Pop, but in Korea? Whoa, that's awesome!" I saw Yukika in Japan from earlier, but didn't know she would make the jump into Korean entertainment, but here we are. As for "Cherries Jubiles" being produced by MonoTree (LOONA), I just found that out too. I really wanted to put that fact in the video. Thanks for pointing that out; it's really helpful! As for DigiPedi, great catches on those songs as well. I know half of them, but wow... you know your stuff. I gotta do more research ha! Still blows my mind that LOONA's production teams had a hand in "Chery Jubiles" and City Pop. Very cool. Very humbled that you watched this video and left a long, very helpful comment. Thanks for that and please comment again if you got anything to say!

@@Popsori I very much appreciate others who also research Kpop the same way I do ;D I look forward to your Rothy video. One of the key points for Rothy is her producer, or mentor/predecessor. I won't spoil the research you might present in your video, but definitely someone to look into ;D (hint: his initials are SSH) There's a cute clip of him and Rothy on her Instagram, that you might be able to use in your video ; ] I was recently honored to becoming an author on a site called KProfiles, and I added Yukika's profile on there. Everything you mentioned in your video re-assured me that I covered just about everything about her, so I Thank You and Appreciate You for sharing your info about Yukika as well ;D Seems we have something in common in the love of promoting the lesser known artists in the Kpop Industry ; ]
@Popsori5 жыл бұрын
Ahh, I'm thinking you mean Shin Seung-hun, yes :) I like how you're making me work for my research hah! I like a good challenge. I'll definitely look up them on Rothy's Instagram. Oh nice, you're at KProfiles!?!? Good stuff! As for promoting lesser known artists, I'm all about the indie and hip-hop artists in Korea. I actually got my journalism start from the lesser known groups, so I may be a bit biased.
@K1SPL1985 жыл бұрын
@@Popsori No worries being biased, I recently went to KConNY, and no one knew the groups/solo artists I listened to when I told them, lol I felt so out of place bc I'm not much of a mainstream artist fan, and everyone around was all about BlackPink and BTS. I just read your e-book and now I'm inspired! I may follow in your footsteps and see how far I can get XD I may have questions so I think I'll send you an email later XD Thank You for your e-book Popsori! 감사합니다!

I feel the same way when I go to KCON LA. Although I like mainstream K-pop, I like indie, hip-hop, and experimental Korean music a loooot more. I totally agree with you here! As for any questions, no problem. Hit me up with an email anytime and I'll see what I can do!

Isnt this song Neon by Yukika a type of inspired or reinterpretation of Plastic Love. different lyrics etc, but the melody is the same chord progression and everything else. heck, Yukika even paid homage of the original track kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWG0oXmiqNSip9k&feature=emb_title

That makes sense. It's a good move on her part, since she found her niche, as well as her marketability in both Japan and now Korea.

One of Yukika's biggest inspirations was BoA, whom was a Korean solo artist that made it big in both Japan and Korea. I think at a time like this, especially how big the Kpop Industry has gotten recently, I think Yukika is inspired by BoA to venture out from her native country and make it big in her neighboring country, just like BoA did.

I find this aspect of the K-pop phenomenon interesting. You’d think many aspiring young Japanese artists are content with staying in Japan/J-pop, yet the increasing subset and visibility of them in Korea/K-pop say otherwise. It’s not entirely surprising since K-pop is now considered a “pan-Asian” form of entertainment. m.koreatimes.co.kr/pages/article.asp?newsIdx=295046 www.soompi.com/article/1308694wpp/takeuchi-miyu-confirmed-to-join-mystic-entertainment kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6umapxpbad8rK8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fauWdIKKZa2EeLM kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIvZhaN6opWDgbM
