Another "best team in the world" who had a similar disgraceful downfall : SamSung Galaxy (2017 Worlds champions) struggled all year long in 2018 and had to win Regional Qualifier to defend their title at Worlds 2018, only to be eliminated in group stage by Cloud9 and Vitality.

Well, actually, SKT was almost eliminated by an underdog : during Worlds 2017 quarterfinals against Misfits, SKT was just one teamfight away from losing 3-1, but they ended up winning this very crucial and very close teamfight, and ultimately won game 4 and game 5 to defeat MSF 3-2. It was actually VERY VERY close (Wolf used his Braum shield perfectly to save Huni's Trundle under the tower). If that logic was true, NA should have been strong by now lol. LPL was strong for like one split in Season 5, but after that the Korean pros who were bought became washed up and burned out. The only Korean pro who had relevance was Deft. If they were strong when they had Koreans they would have finished top 4 at world's in season 5. None of them made it out of groups even with Imp/LGD, deft and pawn/edg, and kakao and rookie on ig. Season 6 was just as disappointing with mata on RNG with no teams again cracking top 4. The only reason Rookie, Mystic, the Shy, Gimgoon, and DoinB are able to win is because they adapted to Chinese play style and it took them years before they even found success. Are you even watching LPL now? Top 3 teams in LPL now are EDG with 6-0 record, FPX with 6-1 record (their only loss was to EDG) and RNG with 5-1 record . TES has record of 3-2, SN has record of 3-3 (they lost to FPX and RNG) and JDG has record of 3-3 (they lost to EDG)
