@@300thNPC Eh, I don't think it's accurate to call Saw a slasher movie in the same group as Halloween and Scream. The foundation of a slasher movie requires a guy hunting your group down one by one. The only killer in Saw is the group's poor decision making or the lack of unity among themselves which results in their deaths while trying to solve death traps. Saw more or less falls into the category of body horror and torture porn with the facade of a dungeon crawler.

@thecowboy969811 ай бұрын
The scariest part, I thought, is what those sickos would've done to the boy had they got their hands on him. The guy playing the cannibal here is like the stuff of nightmares, and the way his eyes seemed to light up when he first spots the boy, in my reading of the situation, gives a very disturbing indication of what would've happen to the boy had the cannibals gotten their hands on him. The Father had every legitimate right to be paranoid, much to the boy's objections, but the way the world had gone to shit in the time since whatever event happened, the Father's paranoid was justified, and like any loving father, he gave everything he had to protect and preserve his son. The ending is left ambiguous, but I would genuinely like to believe that the boy made the right choice to go with that family, grew to manhood, and hopefully did not become at his core corrupted by the outright evilness of the world around him.

The book mentions an iodine smell from the ocean, with the rain and streams being yellow and foul. The weapons used burned everything and poured antibiotics on the ashes, the whole food chain was just gone.

The prologue literately mentions how no animals or crops have survived hence why cannibalism is one of the only means of sustenance

People always ask “what if he hit the kid?” And I think in his mind, good. Better he dies quickly than from being cut apart piece by piece while his now insane daddy eats some, just a little, oh god oh god. The fact that he managed to kill the man and not hurt the boy too bad is gravy, god, or both.
@cheshirecatastrophe90892 жыл бұрын
Personally I think he would have made the same moves, taking the kid as he did over his shoulder, running with him, trying to get to a place where he has time to see if that is actually what happened, but it would be him weeping by the river in the morning.

Viggo’s appearance in this movie would be so awesome in a role as Rick from TWD’ brother, Jeffrey Grimes. I’d love if he were to play him in the Rick show coming out in 2024. I feel he’d be perfect, because he’s the only other actor I could see playing Rick Grimes.

In a scenario like that of the book / movie I would have taken my life a long time ago. Realistically speaking, it doesn't make any sense to suffer so much. A bullet to the head, a handful of sleeping pills and you walk away with dignity. Especially if I have a child and especially if I know that the child fell into the wrong hands (99% of the people who populate the film) it would not just be killed, it would do worse things to it. No, in a scenario like this I would choose the least painful route.

In many ways this film is an allegory for our world, Cormac Mccarthy is known for portraying worlds in his novels that can be interpreted as "godless" or lacking hope and meaning, the world in this movie potrays maybe the darkest example. Therefore it can be implied that Cormac sees the world in this way, or has. The point of his work is that there is always a protagonist who is good in their heart, a person who may die terribly or not do what they set out to, but nonetheless they did the right thing and they continued fighting. That, to me, is the moral of this story; To keep fighting, to continue carrying the fire

I recently saw another cannibal portrayal. Some cult members sometimes eat human meat to feel closer to their god, some kind of mite. It's not prohibited, but it's frowned upon. Not on account of the act itself, which is at most considered distasteful, but because it makes people feel uneasy. And, you know, sure, that's logical! How can you trust your neighbor if he sometimes ups and kills a guy to eat him? So even though cannibalism doesn't merit a death penance by the cult's laws, sometimes the cultists will underhandedly hire outsiders to kill the cannibals in their own midst. I love that kind of logical writing. It's funny to think that a dead cannibal is always good for everyone, even in a community that somewhat allows it.
