Jerry Goldsmith has such a distinctive style but is so malleable, he and John Williams are my two favourite film composers.

There's a similarity between Goldsmith's Roman march and the John Williams cue 'Slave Children's Crusade' from Temple of Doom. I'm not claiming it is a 'steal', or a copy, just that listening to one does remind you of the other.

Numinous20111 well Masada was released in 1981 and TOD was released in 1984.

Goldsmith piece of music is far better and has more complexity than Williams great March of Temple of the Doom ! Williams was a big friend of Goldsmith and he loved it so much...

@@rolandh4947 I'm not a student of composition so pardon me but how is Goldsmith's more complex than John Williams' march in TOD?

Either way, both pieces play during the best part in each.

Williams and Goldsmith were always influenced by each other. I do hear a similarity in the first five notes of each theme (they are also in a march style) but they quickly deviate into different ideas. Additionally, the theme that starts at 1:17 is the exact same as the secondary theme that Williams wrote for a film called The Cowboys in 1972. Both men are genuises. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYXCdYt-jrWsaqsm51s
