"Are you sure you're ready for this?" "I'll do my best." "Your BEST?! Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and fuck the prom queen." "Carla WAS the prom queen." "Really?" "Yeah." Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Vanessa Marcil. Living On The Rock Fact: Sir Sean Connery insisted the producers build a cabin for him on Alcatraz, as he didn't want to travel from the mainland to the island every day. He got what he asked for. Location Location Fact: The scene in which FBI Director Womack (John Spencer) is thrown off the balcony was filmed on-location at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, California. The filming led to numerous calls to the hotel by people who saw a man dangling from the balcony. SEAL Stuck Fact: Michael Biehn, who has played Navy SEALs or some variation thereof on multiple occasions, apparently grew unsure of himself while acting for the first time here against real SEALs He told Michael Bay he was freezing up pretending to be the leader in front of them, as well as in Sir Sean Connery's presence. Disney Sucks Fact: There were tensions during shooting between director Michael Bay and Walt Disney Studios executives who were supervising the production. On the commentary track for the Criterion Collection DVD, Bay recalls a time when he was preparing to leave the set for a meeting with the executives and was approached by Sir Sean Connery in golfing attire. Connery, who also produced this movie, asked Bay where he was going, and when Bay explained that he had a meeting with the executives, Connery asked if he could accompany him. Bay complied, and when Bay arrived in the conference room, the executives' jaws dropped when they saw Connery appear behind him. According to Bay, Connery then stood up for him, and insisted that he was doing a good job and should be left alone.

As an ex-Marine, I am highly grateful that you did this movie today. In my opinion Ed Harris’s character General Hummel is one the coolest and most sympathetic villains in media history. All he wanted was for his men’s families to receive proper compensation for his mens’ services. He was sympathetic and professional beyond villainy throughout the entire movie… … especially that part where he got the children OUT of the madness he was about to start.

Hummel had a cause he believed in, but he was also a man of honor. The fact that he did the right thing at the end was redemption, making him way more interesting than just another by the book villain, in my opinion. Loved your reaction. @@nathanielhorrigan2181 Agreed. It's clear that his plan was Never to kill 100K people or more to get the money to his soldiers' families. It's not a balanced exchange. He wanted to call the government's bluff and force them to do it to end the situation. The problem is, he wasn't honest with his men. They didn't put their lives on the line for a cop out. They were in it for one reason. In short... He chose poorly

My favorite fan theory of this movie is that John Mason is in fact a former British special agent by the name of James Bond, 007. Somewhere on KZbin there is a pretty good breakdown of all of the things that eerily seem to match up. Sean Connery played James Bond at one point.

32:34 In that moment it was actually Mason who showed fear not Stanley. When Goodspeed described the effects of VX gas Mason was petrified. Stanley had to take the chain of VX from him because he started to shake. VX was something that Mason was never trained to face but Godspeed was very prepared for it. There are all types of bravery. I always thought this was a nice moment to show even someone as badass as Mason could still be frightened.

Love this movie! Regarded as one of Michael Bay's best films ever made! Its never been confirmed, but its been rumored that this is actually a James Bond movie as Bond went to prison after going rogue to steal the microfilm with half a century of state secrets. A sequel was in talks, as it was going to involve Nic Cage's Goodspeed goes on ghe run after being accused of trying to sell th microfilm on the black market, with Connery coming out of hiding to help his friend. However it was cancelled due to Connery retiring, Michael Bay was too busy working on TRANSFORMERS, BAD BOYS 2, and THE ISLAND, and Nic Cage was too busy with the National Treasure movies.
@ZeroOskul
@ZeroOskul Жыл бұрын
This is actually regarded as the only good movie Michael Bay ever made. It only has one huge glaring plot hole, which is that Goodspeed is introduced as a Beatlemaniac at the start of the movie but at the end, the only time he discusses music in the movie, it's Elton John's "Rocket Man" that he chooses to mention. And that is--along with his keeping a glass orb in his shirt pocket while climbing all over the place--the only real plot hole in the movie.

Christopher Wallace, aka the “Notorious B.I.G.”, was a big fan of this movie. When he directed his music video for “Hypnotize,” he was inspired by this film, and wanted to match the intensity(especially the Ferrari-Hummer chase). He mentioned this during one of his final interviews which was posthumously attached as an outro to the final album he recorded, “Life After Death,” in 1997.

I love this movie so much! So excited you're watching it. (And I was totally thinking only about chicken when you said that that the start. Really.)

This is sometimes called a Secret Bond movie. Connery as aging imprisoned Bond that kept his secrets.

Fun fact! VX gas is real! But current rules prevent chemical attacks in war. Not that some countries care of course. Though I'd rather die from VX gas then survive a nuclear explosion. Dying from radiation is way more awful.
