Yeah Todd's such a badass. He really knows how to make the more technical side of drumming fun. And on top of that, he has a great sounding practice pad. I think most people really underestimate the importance of a practice pad sounding good - it really helps make this kind of stuff much more exciting and musical.

Great stuff Todd thanks for sharing mate - with traditional grip, I notice that when you’re doing singles fast, it’s just with the thumb and open hand, but at the end of the clip looks like you’re adding the index finger - is that 2 ways you can develop fast singles ? Really handy to use KZbin speed playback where speed can be slowed down - Thanks again Loris

I noticed all the sticks on the couch - he didn't mention if he changes up the heaviness of his sticks during his warmup - like how a batter uses a weight in the warmup circle and then takes that off before going to the plate. Is that a recommended way of warming up?

Good to know. I like the way you make the analogy to throwing a ball. In another video, you talked about how your motion is like shooting pool. Both analogies have been my focus when I practice on my Yamaha electronic kit. Which leads to another question. You have impeccable meter. Do you do any warmups with a metronome?

@funkdrummer5 жыл бұрын
I will somewhat agree that it’s a show off, BUT he is showing how he warms up HIS chops. 95% of people watching this are nowhere near his chops. The ideas he is sharing are standard and should be approached with YOUR chops in mind. He’s the tip of the point, so to speak, in the drumming world. It makes sense that what he is doing sounds like showing off to you. I’m not suggesting that I’m anywhere near his skill level, but I apply the same concepts when I warm up.

I'm sorry, but these rudiments are not clean at all. Precision is better than speed and you know that, of course. It doesn't matter if it's a warm up and it's only a quick demo, we all have to play the cleanest possible.
