i've watched a lot of Rockets Games this season. The biggest issue with Jalen Green right now is that he doesn't fit into our offensive system. The offense is ran efficiently through sengun and vanvleet while other player work off ball with spot up and cuts, thats why players like jabari and brooks are having very effecient seasons. However, Jalen Green seems to be the guy left behind and not getting shots with in the flow of the offense. All his shots come from us running a play every once in a while for him to iso, and since his touches are limited the other team knows hes trying to do nothing but score so they focus on him making all of his shots tough. I think Jalen can easily turn his season around if he can devop as an off ball player but if he can't he's never gonna reach his potential.

This guy, to me, is emblematic of all the problems with G-League Ignite prospects. He's incredibly selfish, never had to learn how to play in a system, doesn't care about defense. All of this was rewarded by Ignite, and teams are going to have to learn this the hard way.
@yangsong2334
@yangsong2334 6 ай бұрын
actually the biggest problem with G league ignite is that their prospects are sold as "league ready" players but in fact they are as raw as anyone. People draft a g league ignite player expecting him to have "experience with pro ball" and "have a year of NBA training under his belt" but its actually just a year of glorified street ball highlight reel rather than actually development

True. Collegiate unlike G League Ignite players also learn from top college programs/coaches and will have to go to actual school classes and put something in their brains. Plus the NCAA has a lot of pressure packed games. The G League games feel like exhibitions not competition.

From 2016 to 2019, many people said, “Booker is not the guy! He is an inconsistent, inefficient shot chucker, not contributing to winning basketball.” This was during the time when the Suns were tanking. There are historical records about this on Twitter, including tweets and videos about Booker. However, we all know how that ended. Booker is now an all-star. A young player, Green, who has been in a similar situation with similar stats, is facing premature hate. Lavine and Beal didn’t break out until the 5th and 6th year of their careers, respectively. Yet, Jalen is already better than them when comparing their performances at the age of 21. It seems that people are expecting too much and overrating Green, when in fact, he’s quite underrated. 🤣

As a rockets fan Jalen green needs to play more like Ja. Jalen Green has the speed and burst to get to the rim consistently. He relies heavily on 3pt shooting when he can get rim pressure like Ja or shai when he’s aggressive. Plus he’s crafty enough to finish around the rim and can go up strong against some bigs. He’s also a better free throw shooter than Ja so him attacking the rim is gonna equal more free throws and his ts% can increase. If he stops shooting 8-10 3s a game and lowered to like 5 and focused more on scoring around the rim we would see what he’s truly capable of. He needs to bulk up a little bit more
@kingdinodragonite3470

Green shooting threes is actually the shots that makes him efficient. His 2 point percentage is horrendous. The thing that keeps him inefficient is that he is statistically the worst midrange shooter in the league (he is shooting 33% from the middy). Even worse is 40% of his shot diet are middys. He needs to stop thinking like he is MJ

Tbf Jalen hasn’t been consistent this season. But the dude is only 21 years old in his third year. Look at Zach Lavine, his best comp and he was also incredibly inconsistent in his third year and is now a multiple time All Star. It is way way too early to say that he is definitively a worse pick in the grand scheme of things than Herb Jones or Jalen Johnson because there is still so much room for him to grow in his skills, strength, shooting and feel for the game. Also if you’re saying that role players should’ve been drafted over the guy that went #2 overall, and that drafting him was a huge mistake, grow some balls and just call him a bust. You find every way to say he is a bust and then at the end say “but he’s not a bust”. Also you don’t get to say “I told you so” when you literally made a video a year ago giving him high praises. You flip flopped on it. But fr, dudes be like “You know Lavine and Beal were inconsistent in year three right? Yup. You know Jalen Green has been inconsistent year three, right? Yup. So that means Jalen can be an awesome scorer like Lavine or Beal later on, right? No he can’t. 2.25 seasons is enough to know for sure he’s Clarkson and never gonna be anything more”

This vid crazy. Jalen Green is 21. He’s human. I’m not saying he sucks or is a bust but the young man needs to mature and that takes time. NBA now has made it difficult for these young guys to mature now by handing them big money contracts at a young age. Green definitely has potential still with his height, wingspan and athleticism at both ends of the floor. Green at 27 will definitely be a different player and grown mature guy compared to his 21 year old self. That’s how it works. Video quick to write this young man off. His experience now this season is his best. He got legit vets to mentor him compare to the previous years of wasted potential from the rockets organization.

Rockets is focusing more on Sengun and its the best decision for the team, once Sengun evolved into Jokic type of a player JG needs to be atleast the Murray or MPJ of this team...not every top 5 picks will turnout to be a superstar but they can be developed into a star/quality role player.

Jalen just doesn't know how to damn play on a basketball organized team. He plays for himself. He's just a AAU player who learnt nothing his whole road to the NBA. A player who all his life played basketball as the one and only player that matter on the team.
@nicholaslu4069
@nicholaslu4069 6 ай бұрын
"Doesn't know how to play," "plays for himself," "learned nothing". These are pretty strong statements. Jalen is struggling to find his ideal role on the team. He is actually not that ball dominant for a 2 guard. Have you seen his pick and rolls with Sengun? Besides being a primary weapon for the Rockets offense he also passes well in those circumstances. Have you noticed that Jalen actually plays the point when FVV is resting? He is not a natural point guard, but he is decent and capable as a playmaker in secondary units. That said, I do agree with you on the fact that he used to be an AAU player. He is still learning the game by improving his fundamental skills and finding his role in a new system that will NOT feature him as the primary threat (that role is currently Sengun's). Right now he is at a crossroads of sorts and finding his identity--the reason why he looks lost out there sometimes. It's easy to conclude that Jalen is selfish when pointing out his inefficiencies and deficiencies in his stats. Talented players need time to develop their full potential. Even KD was inefficient in his first season. Booker was an inconsistent scorer in his first few seasons too until he broke through with veteran leadership from CP3. Anthony Edwards grew into the beast he is really toward the end of his third season. Jalen will need time.

Jalen getting picked #2 wasn’t a mistake smh yes he has struggles but Every player does that’s just apart of basketball he will get better in those areas u mention but that takes time we literally had a trash coach in Silas and was bad after losing harden and the pieces we had along wit him so the rockets picked right when getting Jalen he has had multiple 30 and 40 point games and even this season has had more good games than bad games but nobody talks about that lol but when it comes to the negative parts about his game ppl are quick to get on board and call him trash or a bust when he’s literally better than every player u mention but I digress i just hope u keep the same energy once he puts everything together and starts hooping
