I would have expected nothing less from Rockwell than another excellent safety razor. But I really don't need a safety razor that adjusts on the fly. As an everyday shaver, I use the R4/R2 plate on my 6S. It takes me 10 secs to flip the plate and finish my shave. If I go 2-3 days, I will do my first pass with the R6/R5 plate. You just can't beat Rockwell safety razors for close, comfortable, irritation-free shaves.

if you have sensitive skin I can advice cold water-shaving. you can still lather warm. but only rinse your face and blade with cold water. (so no hot towels and all that stuff so soften the hairs) it keeps the skin more firm which helps with avoiding irritation. also I always finish with a splash of witchhazel (no brand) and a pea size of Baume Aftershave balm when the face is still a bit wet from the witchhazel. the Baume is so amazing ordered 2 more bottles even though I'm halfway on my first bottle after 10 years. Ok as I said in an earlier post. This is the best razor I've ever used. Fixed my neck problems and gave me BBS all the way around. Didn't even try for a BBS.. Just simple smooth shaving. Rockwell soap has been used also but I think you could dry shave with this thing. Just a perfect match for my skin and beard. I have only used Persona Comfort Coat USA made. I'm sure you could use a rock and get a smooth shave though. I'll try the perma sharp blades next then go on down the line. I've probably got a dozen or more brands of blades. Geez! It's funny how the term "sensitive skin" means different things to different people. With milder razors I get skin irritation because I have to do too many passes and touch ups to get BBS. For me R41 GS with a feather blade gives the most irritation free shave because I only need 2.5 passes (with, across and some parts of my face against) to get BBS. I do use a preshave and take my time lathering my face, I also feel that it's crucial for a smooth shave.

250$ is a serious amount of money. In my country (Hungary), that's the price of 48 Gillette Fusion cartridge refill blades. That's enough for me for about 250 shaves. In two years I would spend more on Fusion cartridge than on a stainless steel T2 with the most expensive blades.
@OhioShaves Жыл бұрын
I’m part Hungarian👍 everything’s expensive right now in the United States. I understand what you’re saying with Gillette. But think about this: what are Gillette blades going to cost two years from now, then go five years from now. The DE blades are always an expensive to replace. I do agree that $250 is a lot of money.

@@OhioShaveswhat a shave. Just wanting to share something. The original idea for coming up with an adjustable was people getting 9 razors in 1 razor. The goal was never using different settings. Some people had a sensitive skin and thin hair and needed a mild razor while they rest needed a medium or aggressive razor. Gillette made settings based on that. You use the setting that works the best for you. I don't get people fiddling with the razor settings during the shave.

oh wow thanks for the vid man, I just picked up the rockwell t2 kit (comes with the brush and shave cream) and my shaves were swinging from good to very irritating with lots of red bumps. Im a beginner so still learning alot but my next shave i gotta try this and see if it helps. watching this i now realize my mistakes, i didnt get that kinda lather you got, i noticed the cream drying up or whatever before i even got from one side of my face to the other. it was almost sticky too. maybe even using to much? the amount you used is crazy, ive only had mine for maybe 2 months and used up alot of the cream. Im getting alot of bumps after shaving all over my neck and chin. im guessing thats my issue? also just wondering if anyone would have advice for what setting is best for a daily shave, i have to stay clean shaven for work. ive been using setting 4, and i do get irritation ALOT. it says 1 or 2 with the instructions it came with but i find settings 1 an 2 i cant feel it doing anything. could that just be an angle issue? one last thing, i noticed loading the blades one side sticks out a little more then the other, and i gotta even it out before tightening, has anyone else had this issue? is mine a lemon or do they sometimes do that?
@OhioShaves Жыл бұрын
If you're getting bumps, I would say dial the razor back and or you are applying too much pressure. If you're soap is sticky, then you are definitely using too much soap and not enough water. Take your time to get a wonderful lather. It's almost impossible to add too much water, but it is possible to add too much water at one time. Dip your brush in the water a 16th of an inch and no more at a time. I've never had a problem with the blade being a angled to one side. I do know that some double edge, razor blades have a looser tolerance, then some of the other razor blades out there. This could be another cause of razor bumps meaning that the blade you're using is too mild of a blade. Definitely grab a variety pack of razor blades to find the correct blade for your face and the Rockwell T2. This is probably the most overlooked step is the razor and blade combination. Let me know how things go.

Made out of Stainless steel obviously. T2SS is a little Smoother and maybe not as aggressive as the T2. I need a few more shaves with it

Just received my T2SS. Does anyone else’s adjustable dial kind of seem grindy when you turn it? Mine doesn’t seem to spin smooth like the lock down handle at the bottom. When I adjust the dial you can hear it spinning like metal grinding together

I would contact customer service. Something doesn't seem right.

Guys….I’m not a purist. I normally shave with a 6C R3 with an Astra SP, Nacet, or Voskhod blade with three passes. Then, I will take my old Mach 3 and hit the small stuff on my neck, around my mouth and chin, and my upper sideburn area. There is so little beard left in these areas…that the Mach 3 is perfect for cleaning it up without causing irritation. Some might say I’m not a DE purist….but I don’t care. The object is to get a BBS shave with the least irritation as possible.

Interesting. Have you tried going to a more aggressive plate for the touchup instead of using a old Mach 3 razor blade?
@michelhouben4233 Жыл бұрын
I'm surprised to read your shaving routine because I do the exact same thing. I use one of my safety razors to remove the beard, but then going over the face with a Gillette Fusion Proshield or Skinguard Sensitive works best for me. You feel that you are shaving a little shorter without the risk of irritation or cuts. I shave only with grain.

@@OhioShaves I have tried going with an R2 and R4 but I get too much irritation in these sensitive areas. I’m 79…so the skin on your neck isn’t smooth any more. The Mach 3….with it’s small head and pivot…is perfect for picking up hard to maneuver spots. Also, considering that you are only working on maybe 5% of your full beard….one cartridge lasts me over a month. I usually change it for mostly reasons of sanitation.

Hey was just wondering. Have you noticed with your T2 stainless that the blade alignment is a little off? Also seems that the doors are out of alignment
@OhioShaves Жыл бұрын
I dont have that issue

Since there isn’t much of a feel between the t2 and the stainless steel would it make sense to get just the t2 vs the t2s?
@OhioShaves Жыл бұрын
I need a little more time with the stainless steel model. I'm going to do a comparison next week.

I'm happy the T2 works for you. It does not for me. I've tried all types of Blades, and with the setting on 6, it still does not provide a close shave, as I would like.

Stainless steel T2 Model Razor feels like having a golf ball rubbing on the face. Not as slick smooth glide. Nor so much it definitely absorbs heat from warm water.
@OhioShaves Жыл бұрын
Not at all. The coating on this razor is smooth as silk on my skin

That thing shaves as well on 1 as it does on 5. Just a little less efficient.

I notice you also have a heavy beard, I suspect you can't shave with a modern multi-blade razor either!
@OhioShaves Жыл бұрын
I can but not against the grain on my neck without breaking out. What razor do you use?
@pfv3462 Жыл бұрын
@@OhioShaves I recently bought a shavette and a Muhle safety razor R41, this went much better! Modern multi-blade razors didn't give me a shave, they clogged and dulled very quickly.
What blade and plate you use for headshave with the 6c. Godbless you always and your family

I do hope you’ve stopped showing the sink with the whiskers floating in the water. That’s just gross looking. You have some of the best quality videos out here, the waste isn’t adding to the quality at all. Completely unnecessary. Just a thought from a viewer.
