Still gives me chills! That 11th round knockdown, the look on Apollo's face when Rocky gets up, when he beckons him over, to come forward, to keep trying to beat him.. THAT moment, those few seconds of cinema helped to shape me to become the type of man I wanted to be in life.

Let's get to the point. Whytez were annoyed for decades that Blacks were dominating boxing. They created strong black characters to be destroyed for their entertainment. The ultimate (literal) nail in the coffin was having the Russian Drago k*ll Creed. It all fed into the racism and American patriotism. All this nostalgia was about giving their people the Great White HOPE
@AlexanderBalboa20Ай бұрын
To each his own I think , but Stallone definitely didn’t think of that. He wasn’t even planning on making a boxing movie. Rocky was supposed to be some street thug , a bum. Then he got the idea from Ali vs Chuck, that’s it. And Dolph was supposed to be in Rambo 2 , but Stallone kept him for Rocky 4 because of his physique. After that they put the idea of Creed vs Drago

T was the best. Never got any better than T. Even though no he certainly didn’t pull off the boxing part too well. But he was that special thing along with the “Eye of the Tiger” of course that supercharged the saga. 3 was a bigger hit than 2. And that never happens.

You’re right. 2 to 3 was a whole different level. He was the champion and had that life. Clubber was opposite of Apollo , a ruthless opponent who didn’t talked that much. 4 was a bit comical tbh with Drago but mr T was right on point and very believable

@@AlexanderBalboa20I’d disagree on this one Russians have long had advanced training for decades way bf other countries post WW2 , even today their sports science existed in the 60’s and it’s relatively new to the recent boxing era . They were lifting weights for instance long bf many u.s legendary trainers didn’t let the old school fighters do them had they been allowed to compete over here may have been another story ? The Drago character depicted much more realistic things then Mr . T bc no one was actually going to be that brash in real life and Drago is a cold character very alien like that the Soviets engineered to be a champion . Drago would beat Wladimir Klitschko in real life but one day very soon we’ll see a real life Drago only a matter of time . If you combined Anthony Joshua and Klitschko it would equal Drago ,someone one day will emerge having quality’s of both skills standing 6”6 and nearly unbeatable I’ll say with 10/15 years . Fighters have actually developed into Drago like as far as size wise it’s not so much science fiction bc many guys are 6”5 240 pounds that’s average actually. A lot of the machines and measurements in the movie were actually real I’ve seen them in old videos the Russians were using these videos have recently surfaced on you tube .
@AlexanderBalboa202 ай бұрын
Oh I meant comical in sense of how Apollo died and the movie is basically one fight , 3 music videos with car scene and training scenes then another fight. It’s what the movies did in the 80’s. I wasn’t aware of the Russian training system and their sport science development. Yeah a combination of Joshua’s body and athleticism with Klitschko’s technique and 1-2 would be the perfect heavyweight. But with Joshua’s heart before the first Ruiz fight would be invincible. Thank you sir 🫡

Not enough credit goes to MR. T's physique in Rocky 3.
@AlexanderBalboa20Ай бұрын
Exactly. He had mass , was super athletic and could box. And them huge legs for 1982
@williamj.dovejr.8613Ай бұрын
@@AlexanderBalboa20I believe the physiques of Rocky ( specifically part 3-5 ), Apollo, Lang, and Drago influenced real life fighters to take their minds and physiques to the next level.
@AlexanderBalboa20Ай бұрын
They could have influenced that a lot. You didn’t had those physiques in the 70’s and 80’s really but then in the 90’s most of them blew up with muscle. Rocky maybe influenced that but mostly it was the steroids that were becoming more well known and the drug tests for the fights that were basically none. We got some good fights tho 😂

What about Mason Dixon from Rocky Balboa? (played by Antonio Tarver)
@AlexanderBalboa202 ай бұрын
I’m not sure when this is done to be honest , it could be before Rocky Balboa because on the BluRay with the special features there is nothing about the 6 part, only the movie on separate cd. Mason was busy ko Roy maybe 🤔😂

Over the years Rocky 5 isn't a bad as I thought was the middle story arch is a bit clunky but the beginning and ending is great. Still the weakest of the series but holds up as a reflection of when it was made

It was ok, Stallone said he tried to put to much of what was going on in his life in this movie , and things like Tommy and his son dying makes it a lot more difficult but precious for me to watch. I don’t know

Even SLY himself said.. Rocky V was a Zero out of 20... he hated it , everything about it... so listening to them try and find a way to make it a good movie.. so funny...
@AlexanderBalboa20Ай бұрын
Yes, I saw the interview where he ranks them and says that. I for one like the movie, you can see he is not himself in it, doesn’t have that Rocky flow. From the Sly documentary on Netflix , I think this is the year where him and his dad had a bad fallout so maybe that’s why he couldn’t focus or something. The scene with Mickey is perfect though
@trevor8307Ай бұрын
I think Sly is too hard on the film. I think there was a lot of effort put into it and much of it worked very well. The scene with Mickey was magical, the testy relationship with his son was relatable, and the changing dynamic with Tommy was realistic. I’ll agree that it’s the worst of the series, but that does not make it bad IMO.

Depends on how Drago would take the fight. Drago didn’t had the heart and Clubber was too aggressive which caused him to tire in early rounds. I give it to Clubber as well. He was a warrior
@graysimmo5399Ай бұрын
@@AlexanderBalboa20 It depends who learns from their defeat to Rocky if they all fought each other(15 Rounds), with hindsight, I think it goes..... Creed was more business like and trained harder in Rocky 2, so we go with that version Rocky was more in the zone in Rocky 4, and he had what he learnt from Apollo in the locker if needed Creed v Rocky. Creed by TKO(12) 108-103/108-104/108-103 after 11 Rounds. This time he puts his ego away and doesn't foolishly get too close. The doctor stops the fight with Rocky unable to see properly Creed v Clubber. Creed on points 146-143/146-142/147-143. Similar opponent. Same strategy(though slightly more cautious given Clubbers devastating power). Same outcome, but the last 2 rounds are dicey, with Apollo taking a knee in the 14th to buy time Rocky v Clubber. Clubber by TKO(11). 97-96/97-96/96-95 after 10 Rounds. Rocky cant beat Clubber toe to toe, so boxes, winning the first 4 rounds on each judges scorecard, but gets a warning of what's to come as a sledgehammer of a hook puts him on the floor in round 5. He cant keep the pace going in the 2nd half of the fight. Despite what he has learned, he doesn't have Apollo's natural instincts to be slippery under heavy pressure, and Clubber starts to overwhelm him forcing the ref to call it off Rocky v Drago. Majority Draw. 143-144/145-145/144-144. Having used his reach to keep Rocky away(regardless of which style Rocky uses) he builds up a lead. In the final few rounds Rocky comes on strong, forcing him back to win the final 3 rounds as Drago tires Creed v Drago. Drago by K.O(9). 76-78/76-79/77-79 after 8 rounds. For once Apollo doesn't have the reach advantage. For all his skill he cant land enough shots to get in front. Drago moves better than Clubber making it doubly hard for Apollo to get in and out of range. Eventually Drago's ram rod jabs take their toll. Apollo gets up from the first knockdown, but not the 2nd Clubber v Drago. Clubber by KO(13). 114-118/114-117/114-117 after 12 rounds. Drago racks up the points with the jab. But Clubber just keeps coming, head down forcing Drago back in to the ropes repeatedly. He gradually breaks him up, with hooks to the body doing the most damage They all knock out Tommy Gunn. Creed in 10, Rocky in 6, Clubber in 4, Drago in 4

The documentary is somewhere 2000-2002 and the bluray collection came out in 2014. Probably some editing problems what made it all bluey.
@trevor8307Ай бұрын
Why is the picture so blurry? Why is it blue? Why does it look bootlegged? I need things to be in perfect 4K for me to enjoy it. I have very specific needs that must be met. If I find something to be substandard to my delicate eyes I have to say something. Please in the future keep me in mind when you are posting these vintage videos. Maybe you can upscale it before posting. Or maybe you can digitally edit the color so it doesn’t look so blue. I’m a very important person and I must be catered to in everything in life. I’m so delicate that everything must be perfectly pleasing to my eyes. That’s my contribution.
