Seems like Asus was just looking ahead. DDR5 has come down in price A LOT now, to where I'm getting 32 gigs (2x16) 5600 CL36 for less than 200 bucks from Corsair, and this B660 I-ROG is literally the perfect board for me. With today's cpus there is hardly any reason for overclocking, rather I'm looking at undervolting my 13900K, which the B660 I-ROG is capable of, and for someone who was already on DDR4, I don't see any reason to stick with that platform for memory anymore. The early adopter tax is more or less gone now, and I was amazed at how many features were packed into this tiny ITX board, and also at a super competitive price even against non-ITX boards that usually are a fair bit cheaper. Any Z-class board would have cost me 30% more just for a TUF variant that doesn't come with the same great integrated sound card plus some of the other features. I already have an older ATX size Z TUF board and I don't even use half of its features, it just takes up space in my case. If Asus focusing only on DDR5 means they can keep the STRIX variant at a price competitive level with their normal TUF boards, that's a major win in my book. Maybe not initially when the board released and DDR5 price was sky-high, but now 8 months later it's the best board in the market imo, and I'm glad it focuses on DDR5. Plenty of DDR4 boards out there already, and ITX builds are always going to be on the more premium side so having a top tier board at a price that can offset the cost of DDR5 and still be a good deal overall, is great.

Some would say that later lower number CL kits will be available, so buying 4800 CL40 one stick is useless now.
