My first pair of skates I bought were the holographic Impalas. I didn't skate in them very long as they just didn't fit correctly. My second pair was the Moxi panthers which I loved! They helped me get into park/street skating. Now I am waiting for my chuffed pro boots to come in the mail for my first custom build!

You said you have the panthers. I was hoping to get some beach bunnies but the only shop where I live only has lollies as far as moxi skates go. @MyHam-os4bq The lollies have no ankle support. They are better suited for cruising or easier dance skating. Ankle support is an absolute must for park skating imo.😊

I was in this situation a few months ago! I searched and searched and I finally settled on a pair of Chaya latte, they had everything I was looking for at a great price. I just wish they made them in a size bigger because I have wide feet, I got the biggest size available and it fits me but after a while my toes start to go numb ahah. But it's really a great skate! A different way to get your skates is to build them yourself. What I mean is buy a boot u like and fit the trucks yourself. I have aBauer boot that was meant for ice skating, and my Dad fitted the trucks and wheels. It’s honestly the most comfy pair I’ve ever had and I can’t see myself ever changing. Just make sure u fit the trucks correctly but it’s a good DIY project for the perfect skates for you.

Went to get fitted today. I bought a pair of Riedell Epics. They were quite a bit more than I thought I would have to spend. They're leather. Moxy's are very nice but do not come in white. I think they are an excellent value either leather or vinyl. I have to make one more trip for adjustments in the boots. 4 more weeks. The roller rinks don't have a selection or fitters. Most of them cater to in line and boarders.

My favorite skates in order of most to least are: Moxi Jack Moxi Lolly Moonlight Roller BTFL Crazy Evoke (I have 2 pair) I love all of my skates though! As Katie said, buy extra bearings. Having wheels ready to go when you want a change makes life easier for sure! I'm also building a pair of skates with Nike Force 1 high tops. I doubt I'll be able to skate on them because they're going to be flat, and I've only skated in heeled boots. I agree to stay away from plastic plates altogether, but there are high quality nylon plates that will take a lot of beating & last for years. You can tell the difference between the good nylon plates and plastic ones when you look at them and feel them. Thanks again for your awesome tips, Katie! 💜💜💜💜

I have been binging your videos for a couple of weeks now. I have learned so much! thank you! I'm thinking of ordering some skates with your link. What do you think of Bont Parkstar for a beginner? Their sizing guide's wide fit seems to match my feet perfectly. So far, I have been skating at rinks, and I have dreams of getting a little dancy some day. I would love to get outside on skates, probably on bike trails and other paved trails. I have 3 concerns. Bont Parkstar comes with small wheels, which they say are better for outdoors, but from what I have heard, larger is better... can you tell me more? Am I right to think the standard 89A 58mm wheels would be good for the rink? Also, the skates come with 20 degree kingpins.... um, I have no idea what that means for skating, but I get the sense that it's different than the typical skate a beginner might buy. Does it matter? What effect does it have? The third issue is that it's reinforced with fiberglass -- does that negate the benefits of a suede boot?
@Skatie
@Skatie Жыл бұрын
The park stars are a great skate. They’re setup for park skating so the smaller hard wheels are perfect for outside park skating but also perfect for indoor rinks too. The 20 degree kingpin is for stability. Most standard kingpin are around 10 degrees but the 20 will be no problem. The plate is a great plate. The fiberglass again just makes then lighter for park skating but if you’re new to skating it may be an advantage too as it won’t feel too heavy. They’re overall a great skate. 🛼⭐️💕

I used to play roller derby, and have missed skating ever since. Now I live in a place where playing roller derby isn't an option but I still want to skate. I am really considering my options here, I am so used to a low boot but the high boot seems better for "leisure skating". Is a high boot the way to go if I want to just skate outside for fun?

Bauer are a hard shell skate and can be uncomfortable as you’ve described. It might also be good to look for a skate that offers half sizes as it sounds like these aren’t fitting you correctly. It’s really important to find a skate that doesn’t hurt you. That way you’ll be able to skate for longer.

Great tips. I started rollerblading last summer, age 36. Wanted to buy quads first, but it looks more tricky to learn hehe. As a man, it looks like most skates are so feminine looking 😅, so i was looking for sneaker like ones. Being on a budget, i saw Slades... What's your opinion on those? No heel, so falling backwards is a thing i guess. And those wheels are 80a, a good in between. I did have 76a on my longboard and they were sticky and slow, but i asume for skates it's more comfortable for pebbles and bad European roads 😅. 80 will be fine i hope. Just not sure bout sizing and if a flat will be the smartest thing to start... I do have experience with ice skating, those are short too 🤔
@Skatie
@Skatie Жыл бұрын
The slades are a good skate. If you bend your knees and keep your knees over your toe the lack of a heel shouldn’t cause you too much of an issue. Just keep your body weight slightly forwards. Have lots of fun

@@Skatie oh good to know. Yeah, not coming from a lifted heel, makes it all new anyway. So i'll learn without knowing how heels feel. Now just have to decide on size... But.. When you buy shoes, you need to be able to passe 1 finger behind your heel. Is it the same for a roller skate ? And what about the toes ? It's okay if there'S a little space ? or it need to touche the front ? I'm afraid to hurt my toes if too tight, but, I also want them to be safe.
@Skatie
@Skatie 11 ай бұрын
Great questions. So it’s said that skates should fit like socks. It’s ok if the toes graze the end of the boot but not mushed up tight that just hurts. 😣 They need to fit correctly otherwise the wheels will not be underneath your foot and it will be harder to balance. Does that help? If not, please ask as many questions as you need.
