Obviously, a lot of work went into this series. The quality is superb. Just the casting alone was outstanding, not only did the actors bear some resemblance to the real people, but they were also good at their job despite the fact that their acting had to consist mostly of body language as there was very little dialogue.

abc64pan The series' graphic design was fantastic! I value docudrama reenactments less, but the performances and casting were some of the best I've seen of this type. However, this documentary series was ridiculously biased and full of "History" Channel Aliens-did-it level selective information and omissions. This was a polemical apology for the Romanovs, not a history doc.

Almost a month ago, I came upon this series by accident while just on KZbin because one day this came up on my recommendations and I became curious. I had no idea what I was in for. This series is so well done that I watched the entire series in about 8 hours or so in one day. Once I finished one episode, I had to watch the next one and then the next one and so forth. Ever since then, I keep coming back to this series to watch it again and again and even as background noise for when I'm studying while I'm in school. I've always been interested in the history of the Romanov dynasty but could never find enough information about all of the rulers. This series changed it all for me. To be very frank, though Indians and Russians have a very strong relationship since 1947, but, I must admit that as an Indian, we do not have much knowledge about Tsar dynasty and happenings in Russia during the last 300 years. It was as a curiosity , I started watching Episode 1 of the series. But it was difficult for me to get up before finishing off the last and the 8th episode of the series. Brilliantly made, confidently retold , superbly enacted and historically presented : few words can speak of the stupendous efforts, that would have gone behind production of the series. Complements to the team for an awesome work.

I was definitely sad while watching this last part just because I know how it ends 😢😢😢 but one trait amongst the Romanovs is their hesitation to seize power seems many of the heirs had their reservation so I'm kinda glad that their burden came to an end, may Tzar Nicholas and his beautiful family be at peace together for eternity what happened to them was disgusting and I hope it haunted those responsible for the rest of their days
@MadameSchrute Жыл бұрын
It's not about seizing power. Power is a heavy burden. It was inherited. You are responsible for everything. Your education, your life, your family life does not belong to you. You give all these resources to the country. To the people. You're a strategist. You are a speaker. You're an encouragement. You're a consolation. Therefore, the heirs were afraid of this burden and responsibility. And that's a healthy fear. They brought it up in such a way that it was before God. Therefore, even despite all their experiences and unwillingness, they took it upon themselves. I'm madly sorry. To tears. That revolution destroyed the elite. Education. A Lot. Honour Bulgakov's Heart of a Dog. Although no, it's not worth it. I doubt that it has been translated correctly and the meaning will be clear. It is better to learn Russian to read in the original. I am happy that there is an opportunity for other peoples and cultures to learn about our country. About her story. Reliably.

@@Tralala691 No, they're not you ignorant fool! They're very warm and friendly. How do I know because I'm a foreigner living here in Russia for 10 years! Heck! They're even friendlier than most Europeans and Americans I know!

I want a series like this based on the Bourbon Dynasty in France

That would be a great series too! France and Russia more so than any other country were really created by their dynasties that it's almost sad that they lost power so violently. The Romanovs and Bourbons are such interesting families especially their last monarchs. Nicholas II, Louis XVI, and even Marie Antoinette were so devoted to their family and country yet they're also such tragic figures. That's what makes them so fascinating.

cubanmissile113 It's maybe sad but the fact is that they didn't care really for their people. In France , just before the French Revolution people and particularly children were poor and hungry but at the same time nobles were celebrating partys , playing games and exploiting the population totally ignoring their problems. What were they only claiming just before the 14th of July? Just "Bread". It was almost the same in Russia. But i think also that the execution of Louis XVI was really cruel. The fact is Royal family was isolated in their castle and didn't take conscience of their population problems and food privations.

cubanmissile113 "Even" Marie Antoinette? Why "even"? I'm curious...

After watching the entire series 5 times, this is by far the best documentary series on Russian history. Lacking only more history on the murder of Rasputin by Prince Youssof and others.
