Have to say Eddy, I really enjoyed this video, one of your best. It has everything, rich and interesting history, some great comedy, good music and overall, a very intriguing walk. The Antonine wall has to be one of the great military monuments in Scotland, and I had no idea that it was around 37 miles in length, very impressive. Take care, and best regards, Rob.

Thanks Rob. It's a World Heritage site, and it's hardly surprising. What an awesome construction. Take care.

The music, the views, another great video Ed. Sorry but I did chuckle when you said it was a hot day of 24 degrees. Around these parts a hot day is about 34 and up. I thought for a second that you were going to get photobombed at the 12 minute mark, but no. Keep up the good work both musically and videowise. All the best!

Many thanks. The amount of sweat I lose even at modest temperatures means anything above 25 degrees scares the living daylights out of me. Take care.

Ive been to barhill and croyhill many times- i live in cumbernauld. Croyhill fort does have quite well defined walls within showing the structure of the buildings. There is quite a dramatic quarry on one side- with massive drops down! It is a truly stunning view of the campsies!
@EdExploresScotland3 жыл бұрын
I must be honest and say I didn't wander around Croy Hill as much as I should have done. I imagine you could probably spend a whole day exploring just that area. I shall return.

Brilliant video as always Eddy. It's always interesting learning about the Romans in Scotland. The Antonine frontier went on for quite some distance beyond the wall. There was a causeway that crossed the Clyde near Dumbarton Rock to Bishopton. There was a large scale fort there and roads heading towards Greenock where they built Lurg Fort, and right down to Ayrshire. Regarding seaguls... I think it should me an offence to feed them. That might keep their numbers in check. Once again, great video and hope you're well :-)

Many thanks. I didn't know about the causeway across the Clyde. I learn something every day. Take care.

A classic rendition of the non single fish and chip shop, I can just picture her still seething to this day. One thing I notice is the trend in takeaway shops where there is an extra charge to have your selection hot. A hot pie carries VAT surcharge and an extra 10p for a bag meaning your £1.40 pie now costs £1.78 (plus heating charges, which vary).
@EdExploresScotland3 жыл бұрын
Having hot food hot is clearly something else. Maybe just a matter of time before fish and chip shops offer an uncooked version, hand over a fishing-rod, and point you towards a river.

It’s incredible to think about what must have gone into building such a structure back then, considering this was only a small part of their empire.
@EdExploresScotland3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I imagine it was a good few hundred years further on before we even considered hot bathing and central heating.

Great video again. We did that walk last year, starting and finishing at Auchinstarry. I've been meaning to go back for a photograph of the head, which wasn't there back then.
@EdExploresScotland3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks. For a while I wasn't sure if I'd missed the head. I had a vague notion that it was by Croy Hill, but it was down the other side. Take care.

Great video Eddy what's the song at the end called its brilliant?
@EdExploresScotland3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks. I think it was just a bit of music I made up for the video, and not a full song. If I were to give it a name it would probably be, 'Raise Your Arms' or something.
