Tonight's fairy tale tiptoes into the realm of spooky reincarnation and gruesome fate. There is of course, a beautiful daughter, an evil stepmother, and a macabre singing bird? Tale as old as time, right? Kinda. Join me this evening to see how twisted this trope becomes!

Too much buzzing in your skull to sleep?! This... may not help! But, at least we'll be enjoying a spookier fairy tale story together, right? Join me for tonight's twist on the traditional trope of "evil wicked stepmother," and her gruesome (deserved?) fate! This tale, "The Rose Tree," is read in a soft voice and set to some light and eerie background music. I do hope you enjoy the this evening's short and spooky fairytale!

The story basicly the genderbend version of the Juniper Tree, where it's a boy who gets killed and has a little sister.

about the dog: it might have been a really really hungry stray dog, who ate the candles for they were made not of wax but of simple fat in former times.

The version I've read is The Juniper Tree. In that one it's the brother that gets killed and in some versions he somehow comes back to life after dropping the millstone on his mother's head. Also, I think the mother is actually the boy's stepmother in that one too. I recall they made a reference in the Gretel and Hansel movie at one point, where Gretel hears "Oh, what a beautiful bird am I."

You mean Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters?
@PixiePrincess501
@PixiePrincess501 Жыл бұрын
@@derekbates4316 No. The movie was literally called "Gretel and Hansel". In this one, Gretel ends up being an apprentice to the witch. I can't say much more without spoiling the whole plot, but it's a great twist on the fairy tale!

Its an alternative version of The Juniper Tree, but in the end the bird turned back into (a boy) in the end.

the little girl/bird got her vengeance on the "parent" that hated her. I think there was another version where the mother made her fail by convincing the dog to steal the candles so she had an excuse to kill her child, but emphasis on I think.

Lol all of the men in this story are so oblivious. None of the workers asked about the meaning of the song.. Her father didn’t think anything of his daughter going missing.. Even her loving brother didnt think to rat out his mother after he buried his sister. 😩 Love hearing these stories though!

Gruesome!. - Most Fairy tales are Horror stories in disguise (even Fairies themselves were once considered not only real but a real life threat) so it's not so unusual.

A version of the bird’s song was featured in Goethe’s Faust. We used it for our Halloween puppet theater-Faust, many years ago.

Dunno why they thought a song about filicide, cannibalism and trauma was so beautiful to them. Things are weird in the countryside.

SPOILERS "Stick, Stock, Stone, Dead" might be referring to candlesticks, stock made by cooking the heart and liver, the millstone, and the step-mother's fate.

What if the rose tree becomes a Disney movie maybe instead of the daughter it’s the father who gets his head chopped off by the stepmother of the daughter speaking of which what to name is to be the daughter I was thinking she would be named rose
