I got to see them at The Texas Opry House in Houston. What a GREAT show! It was about 1976. I still have the album they gave me. This is 2021. Yeah, I think they made quite an impression. Remarkable talents. Still Love em!

Saw them open for jerry Garcia at El Camino Park (Palo Alto) in 1975 I was 14.

1971, living in San Diego County, had never heard of these guys. Waiting in line at a Sons of Champlin, Stoneground, Elvin Bishop concert at USD gym, a girl who had just got back from San Francisco (with much musical credibility since she was there to see The Sons like us) was telling us all sitting in line that the Rowan Brothers were currently the next big group to come out of San Francisco. Turned out not to be the case, aside from Peter's subsequent great bluegrass career. For some reason that girl's San Francisco news always stuck in my mind some 51 years later. She also had intel from the previous night of the newly re-formed Sons (without their horns and vibraphones). We were such Sons nuts, so excited about their getting back together (around Follow Your Heart album release). The 3 groups I mentioned above were all wonderfully spectacular that night.

I saw these guys at San Jose State in a free summer concert (1975?). Unbelievably good. Musically tight, great harmonies, well-delivered. But I thought the album was way over-produced, and it did not catch their personalities - really unfortunate. This video captures the group I saw live.
