@TamasKiss-yk4st8 күн бұрын
Innovations..? Even the RTX 3080 was PCIe 5.0 x16 compatible.. but the RTX 4080 reverted back to PCIe 4.0 x16 just for more profit.. and good to see the 1,5TB/s transfer speed, but that is only between GPU RAM and the GPU.. if the GPU try to communicate with the CPU/System RAM, it's going through on that 32GB/s limited PCIe 4.0 x 16 slot.. so nearly 50x slower transfer speed recently, when they already released PCIe 5.0 x 16 GPU with 64GB/s transfer speed couple years ago.. this is not innovation, it's just pure greed.. they give you the crappyer technology because it's cheaper and they can get more profit with that.. imagine if all you SSD is replaced with HDD, just because it's cheaper, and you are too dump to realize it's slower.. would you like that? Because they are doing that with you with the reverted (and slower transfer speed) parts..

Go look at the price of TSMC's nodes. Every single commentator seems to just glance over the fact that the cost of manufacturing smaller transistors is a stupid price hike. The price difference between TSMC 28 nm and 8 nm, only $2000. 8nm and 7nm? $5000 7nm and 5nm? $6000. 3nm is currently priced out at $20000 per wafer and 2nm projected to be $26000. 8nm was $5000 per wafer btw. The days of budget cards are literally over. $200 does not cover the cost of a single die from these wafers, not even close. Especially when only half of the 100 or so die's on a wafer are operational. Add in the cost of R&D, software support and margins, you can reliablely predict how expensive and unwhelming future "budget" cards are going to be.

Based on the ram speeds its looking like the 5090 will be 40-50% faster than the 4090 What we are also seeing, which is the most important aspect of future for gpus is this: Nvidia is showing and proving that they can increase performance, but they can only do it with crazy power amounts - therefore the progress limit will end up being artifically set by customer power limit criteria rather than gpu performance or price over the next 5-10years. This also a huge reason why mid range card prices have been and will from now on creep up and up and up... Great video btw, I subbed and hope you hit 100k soon 🍻

Except that in reality, the solution to hitting an efficiency wall isn't to tim taylor it, it's to find a way around it. In other words, look at Intel vs AMD Ryzen. This is LITERALLY part of what AMD said they are doing by dropping out of the top of the line race in GPUs at the moment. Capture the product stack at the 'budhet-affordable' range, and then use that money to go back to the drawing board, so they can come back with a product that solves the limitations their competitor has hit. The problem is, that unlike with Intel, where the CPUs aren't backed up by proprietary software features, NVIDIA has a long history of biasing the implementations of core features to favor THEIR hardware, and relying on patents and IP laws to force an arbitrary dependency when there doesn't actually need to be one. God forbid we talk about how much of their market dominance is inertial faith and the sweetheart deals they make with Dell and other system integrators to ensure most the market is utilizing their hardware, and with it, disincentivize software developers to focus on improving the hardware agnostic methods. NVIDIA is scum, pure and simple. They have relied on anti-competitive practices since the 2000s.

@@jtnachos16 Agree partly but reality is, all company's that are publicly listed, have a legal obligation to maximise profits for shareholders so ALL floated companies are inherently ruthless in a capitalistic sense as they face shareholder accountability if they aren't going for more money always. Truth be told, most nvidia secrets aren't secret anymore due to the recent hack and source code theft. Nvidia does have quite a history of pushing graphics development over the years moreso than Amd and that can't help but breed consumer loyalty which will always be hard to shake off. 1 thing is certain for the future: If nvidia continue with greed at the high end, then Amd will swoop in over the mid to long term at the mid end and budget end and will end up being the future of gaming PC graphics cards in most typical peoples PCs

Vram speed is a Bad indication of Overall performance. Just Check 4090 vs 3090 ram speed and gaming/ Compute Performance
@marknewellmusic8 күн бұрын
@@mueccke I agree, vram alone would be a bad indicator but considering it alongside power limits and the other known specs of the 5090, everything is pointing to around 50% better than 4090, the 3k was new progress and more power than before, 4k was the refinement of 3k but using less power, so now for 5k to progress, it can only be done using more power and there's a point where users find power rediculous and nvidia knows that - this is what will lead to only moderate increases in performance each generation now eg 50% more as the power reqs will stop nvidia putting out 80-100% better cards than last gen card. Everything now is pointing to performance gains being slowed due to crazy power reqs being needed for future better performance, so progress in general is slowing down and maybe 5 years from now, we will see it levelling off as fab shrinks prove harder and harder to achieve and harder to give high yields. I'm quite confident 5090 will be 40-50% faster than 4090 but I hope I am very wrong and everyone gets to enjoy 60 80 or 100% improvement 😉 And I say that as a 3090 owner 👍

Compare to Europe, where you have insanity like VAT tax that is set to around 20% for all but the smallest/poorest nations, and even in places like Canada, 15% is the average, not an outlier. Previously, when NVIDIA released new GPUs, the price of a model in the same series (like upgrading from an RTX 2060 to an RTX 3060) would be roughly the same on release, but the newer model had better specs. This made upgrading a sensible choice. However, now the pricing structure has changed. Instead of being based on the model or series, prices are more tied to performance. For example, both the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 3070 are now averaging around $320, even though they are from different generations.

I think all tech reviewers should just ignore these ultra expensive cards. Stop reviewing them, stop using them as a benchmark. These are only for the happy few, it's better to concentrate on the "mid tier cards" even if those are also going up in price. I believe these cards are not representative nor interesting for +90% of the gamers.
@tourmaline078 күн бұрын
Not sure I agree - still even if most won't own these I still think it's interesting to see cutting edge tech being released.

Everybody here is blowing smoke over a price point that isn’t even confirmed, and over a rumor of its power consumption which is likely maximum load but average load under stress is probably half that. Edit: I’ll start complaining after I see the announcement and official specs.

Exactly.
@chinogambino93758 күн бұрын
Who even cares beyond bragging rights? All the new games look like blurry trash due to TAA and UE5 anyway. The prices has been wrecked by idiots who pay anything and its only going to get worse, people who actually play games are not the market anymore.
@MrAnimescrazy8 күн бұрын
No unreal 5 games look good maybe not all of them but it also depends on the settings and I would argue maybe not we are past the learning curve for the engine. I'm sure there will be better games as time goes on and more devs know how to use the engine. Also what features they want to use or not the same with any other big engine. You know you can wait for sales, bundles, deals, pre owned, used or open box. You can also use a payment plan service. Stop complaining and yes people will buy what they need either to play games how they want or to play games and do productivity work.

Dude the 4090 asus models have 4 plugs that means it can pull 600 watts! When you pull the slider on the power to max least on Asus Tuf and then do a furmark it pulls like 500 watts or a little more. So the 550 watts is just a reference cuz the 4090 they said would pull a ton and in a lot of games the 4090 is insanely efficient because it only needs like 40% of the gpu to get like 120fps on older titles like playing final fantasy 10 from PlayStation 2 era it only uses like 120 watts maybe less and idle it uses like 15 watts or so like these aren’t gonna just draw massive power also CURVE OPTIMIZE IT.. I made my 4090 boost 30mhz faster than normal but pull like 120 less watts in games and playing games now my card doesn’t get hotter than 60c ever! But when I play games I always set the fans to max cuz I’m all about performance I don’t give a crap about fan noise that’s what makes me go to sleep at night my fan anyway. I can bet money only on titles it needs to pull that wattage but when it doesn’t it’s gonna prolly be just as efficient. Also AMD is done making any good gpus that means they are letting NVIDIA take the most expensive clients.. I love AMD for its processors not its gpus the gpus are trash compared to nvidia they just are look at steam the top 15 gpus are nvidia then its some AMD internal graphics then more nvidia! Some people know they will want the next best gpu so they start saving money right away cuz if you saved 50 dollars for 2 years you could pay for for it plus selling your gpu cuz if you are going for 5090 I’d hope you have a 4090 to trade in. They still will be worth a lot when 5090 launches.. just shows AMD is focused on other things at the moment than making gpus that are super good.

People are paying 600 dollars for 12gb nvidia cards. Nvidia just dropped mem speed and only removed one letter on the box. Same part number. Until amd has significant gpu market share this will continue. Buy a 7900gre if you don't like this. That's right you will pay 3000 for the 5090.
@thelazyworkersandwich41698 күн бұрын
No I won't. I've completely given up on Nvidia at this point I'm eyeing the 7900gre but honestly their ain't many games to justify it at the moment. Ill just wait for the 8000 series equivalent.
