I have to say, I really do feel like this is a good card considering the ridiculous market. Just two years ago I picked up three r9 280x cards for £35 each, a GTX 1050 for £35, and a 1660 super for £225. All of these cards went to friends and family for free or what I bought them for. It makes thinking an RTX 3050 at £250 being a bargain very strange. I kept the sole retsined R9 280X for my daily driver rig as the dvi port is dead, and I considered downgrading to an R9 270x (that I picked up for £65) so I could move the R9 280x on to someone who could use it better. Incredibly the R9 270x is a sapphire toxic card, and it is far, far to nice to be kept by me. It overclocks like a beast and remains under 50°c at 100% load so I can't keep it to run rimworld and stardew valley because what a WASTE

$420-450 plus tax in Canada for RTX 3050. Not worth it at all. A Radeon RX 6600 8GB can be had for around $375 plus tax- that's $400 flat with tax. The prices are hot shit in this country. CPUs can be had for a decent price, however. I hope the 6500xt serves you well and I know not everyone is in a position to wait or spend more money but in the future the 6500xt resell price is probably gonna go down so much because it lacks many crucial features, cards that are maybe older than 5 years can match it's performance and more because they don't have a tiny memory buffer as well as encoding engine etc... So, your card is temporary but you might end up not saving much money at all than if you were to buy something like RX 6600 right now as you will lose money on the 6500xt + 200-400$ spent replacing it. If you believe the $250MSRP, I have a bridge in New York for sale... The RTX 3050 is a miner's dream card. Low power use with 8GB of VRAM. The nVidia LHR algorithm has already been cracked so these cards will sell like crazy to miners. When nVidia says "we care" we say "bull-$hit!".

5:45 Huh... That is oddly close to what I got with some pathtraced shaders on java edition with a ryzen 5 2400g and a Nvidia gtx 1660 super at 900p maybe it mostly hovered from 40-60 fps, and when it dropped below 40, that was a CPU bottleneck. How in the world is Minecraft Java so cpu bound that a ryzen 5 2400g (Which is no slouch, by the way) manage to bottleneck a 1660 super with such insane shaders?

The AMD side has FSR so if you're going to show DLSS as a plus for this card you should also mention FSR
@SlickOnTop2 жыл бұрын
AMD's FSR is also universal, so nvidia benefits from it as well.
@johngaynor43632 жыл бұрын
True but it's also a much simpler technology. The only reason it works on everything while dlss doesn't is because dlss leverages the tensor cores on rtx cards to do much more sophisticated upscaling, rather than just edge detection with a sharpening filter.

One thing I have in mind, when seeing a lot of these reviews, is that DLSS is a given, when it's an RTX card. But... AMD FSR (FidelityFX) is often overlooked or outright ignored. Granted, the number of games that's supported is still limited, but it feels a bit unfair.

I needed to watch this again because I recently got a refurbished 11th Gen i7 computer that included a 3050 (despite the original box saying it had a 3060 originally that they wisely marked out because the description did indeed say 3050). I was just fortunate to find something that doesn’t come with windows 11 in this year 2024, and because it’ll be nice since my laptop from very late 2019 is starting to show its age a bit. At least it’s the first thing ever I’ve gotten that can ray trace, though I did notice it doesn’t have some things like resizable bar (which was new in the 30 series I guess) and it’s right under the requirement for Portal RTX (though I still goosed it a bit by some odd startup setting that disables using Vulkan but I haven’t had much time to check that aside from it makes all the title screen menus near invisible and doesn’t actually allow for RTX settings to be opened).

I'm waiting for a reasonable card to upgrade from my Powercolor Red Devil RX580. Still plays most 1080p games maxed out or at least at high. Though about adding a second one but they currently got for $450+ on the used market. I bought the card new for $190 in 2017. This card should be around $200 and the 6500xt should be $130. They are currently going for around 2X that or more. Looks like most of us will skip this generation of cards too.

This is making me glad that I grabbed a used 1060 before prices went nuts ($150 in mid 2020). It honestly has run everything I’ve thrown at it well enough at 1080p, but I also have it paired with a 12 year old i7 so a few games like Rainbow Six Extraction have throttled from that. EDIT: I’m guessing that Forza didn’t recognize the card in its database. I know Forza Horizon 4 can hit Ultra 1080/60 on my 1060. Sims 2 has the same issue with modern cards, but at least Forza lets you tweak up.

Ah, the infamous RTX2050 in disguise! (the new 3000 series that is slower than the 2060) Can't exactly say it offers any value for money whatsoever when its on par with a 1660super from 2019, still a FPS matching 2015 R9 Fury is only £130 from CEX too. Graphics technology hasn't really improved much in the past 7 years has it.

Really disappointing how AMD is treating their older, pre-Polaris hardware right now, and does not bode well for potential AMD buyers looking to keep their hardware for extended periods. I am an RX 5700 owner, and I definitely don't like the idea that a card I bought in 2019 might be left without any proper driver support as soon as three years from now. The Fury is a 2015 card. Whereas older cards like the 7970 got to enjoy nearly a full decade of satisfactory driver support, the Fury only got 6 years, that's less than most console generations and it just isn't good enough. On the other, Nvidia is still supporting some cards from 2014, like the Maxwell based GTX 750ti, though anything older than Maxwell has sadly also been dropped, which is still quite disappointing. These multi-billion dollar companies aren't hurting for money, AMD used to be hurting for money but they don't have that excuse anymore, we should expect better.

Could you do a video on one of the Radeon HD 5000 series of video card, as that series was the last to have ATI branding on it?
@XaFFaX2 жыл бұрын
I think you are a bit biased. There are more factors why 3050 is better than R9 fury, given the same price - it is NEW, so you have warranty, technically for at least 2 years you should not worry about it. If it breaks then just RMA it and that is it you get your money back or a new card. This is not the case with a used one. Other than that a very important factor is power consumption, especially when prices for power go up. R9 fury takes 2-3 TIMES more power. This is a TREMENDOUS difference. So a comparison between the 2 does not really make sense if performance is the same.
@BudgetBuildsOfficial2 жыл бұрын
1. Yes you do get a warranty on new cards, however this is already sort of added as one of the dangers of used cards. 2. Power consumption may be a factor but most (if not all) R9 Fury users under volt their cards, sipping power at 170ish Watts, which isn’t too much more than the Fury Nano (AMD is to blame for overvolting all of their cards) 3. Most people care far more about FPS than they do about those factors, it’s to show if the card is worth you upgrading from the R9 Fury, GTX750Ti etc… not to say go out and buy one of these used alternatives.
