your question regarding fishtail is equivalent to, why can't everyone hit a home run? the ball is just in front of hitter right. No, you need to know what your strengths are and the chances of you hitting the ball into stands, strike zone, the curve of the ball and the position of the catcher. Same with kabbadi, you got to understand its a tough, strategic mental sport. you need to know when to move and attack like a wild cat.

They cant team up all and hold him coz, they ll all be out if he touches the mid line. The person doesnt venture out until he finds a way to move in. So the team is trying always to create a trap for the incoming person and incoming person is always trying to dodge and make the team react and give away

The moment 7 people start charging toward him or encircle him, he will immediately move back close to the mid-line, making it easier for him to just touch many defenders and go back, he will easily score points. That is why they are very cautious as to not get close to him. He pose as much threat to the 7 as they pose to him.

so guys let me explain... u just cannot fishtail(cricle) it is very easy to escape it as soon as u see that that the defending team is coming around you just start to run back and eventually u will touch the last person from the defending tail. will running back, thats why the defendng team is swinging from one side to another bcz they are trying to cricle around but they do not bcz they know if they overcommit to circle the raider will try to run back and even if u catch if his forward motion will take him to mid line. so u try to entice the raider to come as far inside as possible from the mid line

I still remember one I was playing kabbadi with my college friends my team has physical weak but super active and fast players. the opponant team had solid players but not so fast we played two match and my team won both there was a time my whole team was out only I was in and the opponant team suggest me to surrender and leave but I raided I got one point and one person got in and then gradually my whole team was in and the opponant team was all out.

The defenders actually try to surround the attacker but the attacker is usually very close to the mid line and always ready to leap in his team's area.

As you said all the 7 could go together and catch the raider but since the raiders are mostly so aware, the raider could easily touch the defenders and reach the half line since he would be close to it than normal... The defending team has an advantage that the raider should touch the bulk line or a defender before going back or the raider will be out, so they let him come in give him some space and get him distracted before they strategically catch him or push him out

It's very fun to play. And if you're physically active then there'd be no chance of bodily harm. Here in India Kabaddi is more popular among children comparing to adults and it's really safe to play. It's a lot of fun but it needs a lot of energy and agility too.

Nathan, you really need to play the game at least once to understand that it is not all that easy to tackle the raider even if you are 7 against 1. The game itself is super fun to play and pretty exhausting. :)

They can tackle whenever they want. But they don't really do that untill the raider is in a safe distance from the mid line, so that there are less chances of him/her to return to his/her lobby.

Defender can tackle the moment raider(anti) enters their half..but they wait for the right moment to trap him..and raiders job is to escape and try to get to the midline while touching some of them..it is a fun sport.. Best way to understand is to watch it for 40 mins (duration of the game)..

It might seem easier for you to think that it's easier to tackle a raider but it's not. That's why it's a sport which requires agility, speed and strength. As you guys were saying that why those 7 guys don't come around and grab that guy? but what if they lose the grip and if the raider tags all of them, then the defencing loses and it's an all out game. Watch the professional kabaddi league video, maybe that will make you understand so that you can see how the game looks like. I can tell you with certainty that it's a fun game to play and to watch as well.

They are not tackling him with circling because if raider turns and run to midline, he will touch many players at the same time and all the player he touched will be temporarily eliminated only to be revived when another player is out from other side at the rate of one player each. The raider is cautious.

Defenders can tackle whenever but If you encircle you'll risk getting tagged the raiders are trained and very quick they'll notice a gap and jump over tagging everyone and crossing midline ..if one such bad defence happens you pretty much loose the game .. if you actually watch the game most of them end like basketball .. the difference in winning and loosing team is only 2-5 points .. that's why they don't encircle ..you can ..and many times they do encircle ..but the timing and depth of the raider inside the court must be good enough.

Let's leave out all the bonus lines and side areas and other stuff for now. Kabbadi is 4000 year sport from Tamil Nadu meant for leisurely training Warriors. To understand the core of Kabbadi, take a rectangular field and split it half, with 2 teams of 12 players each standing on each half. The teams take turns to to send a "Raider" to the other side. The Raider's aim is to score points by touching as many opponents, all while chanting "Kabbadi" out loud. The points will only be counted if he touches his opponents and returns to the mid-line, all while still chanting "Kabbadi". Normally, 1 person touched is 1 point, but the bonus lines and stuff add variations to it, along with the other rules such as players having to sit out if they were touched and getting revived etc. The reason why the defenders aren't pouncing is that even if the defending team try to pounce on him and tackle, a small error may lead to the Raider touching multiple defenders and reaching the mid-line safely.

The defenders can tackle the attacker as soon as he enters their side but if in case the attacker somehow escapes back to his own side by crossing the middle line then whom ever defenders tried to tackle him will automatically be out ...so the defenders r out not just when the attacker tags any of them, they r also out if any defender even touches the attacker n the attacker goes back to his side ... So if the defenders touch the attacker they hav to stop him at any cost otherwise they r out .... Also when if the attacker stops chanting kabadi while he is tackled then he is out. It's just an extra trick in the game becoz normally when u r being tackled it's very difficult to breath n not possible to chant
