Its all in your head. Learn to block and play footsies. Always attacking is a bad thing and leaves you open. Wait for them to attack and give you an opening. Fighting games are supposed to be a back and forth. If you could just steamroll the ai you'd be complaining the game was too easy. Good luck cheers.

Lol footsie. Thanks for the advice
@baerishlyakita3711 Жыл бұрын
Yes, footsies. That’s an actual fighting game term, it’s an essential basic, even in Street Fighter II. TRF moves pretty quick, but try starting with a basic character like Zen or Aran. Boyd and Garnet aren’t easy characters to start with.

It’s now on the PlayStation store. So I played the ps2 version which was easy at least on the first stage. And YES the Dreamcast version kicks my ass just like you said. So waiting for a sale b4 buying on PSN

I played on original hardware and found the default setting too easy and I’m below average when it comes to fighting games. I wonder if it’s something with the conversion to Dreamcast?

I’ve played it on Atomiswave too. Same issues. I’ve been playing fighters my whole life and while I’m not the best ever I can pretty much beat a game given enough time easily but this one...stage 3 and I’m done lol

I’d bet there was some balancing done for sure on the console version considering the Dreamcast rom is just the straight arcade code running it’s a bit brutal

I tried out Rumble Fish earlier today on PS2. Seems like the difficulty setting are lower since I could win the first 2 matches after trying out the moves in training mode. The game got more challenging after the first matches, had to spend some credits on 3 & 4 before giving up on match 5. The Naomi version must be set to really high difficulty. It defaults at 3 out of 10 in the PS2 options. My impressions are that it’s a fun but pretty hard game that differs quite a lot from Street Fighter II and KoF. Rumble Fish seems to focus on combos more than getting in single special attacks. Also seems more ground based. There are a bunch of little quirks, I don’t know how to make good use of the dodge button. Then there’s the super meter and what you can use it for aside from super moves. The first game has a powerful stun move that depletes the offence meter, as well as some other functions I couldn’t memorise. I wonder if there is a way to reduce difficulty on the Dreamcast? Hopefully so.
@VideoGameEsoterica3 жыл бұрын
There may be a way to alter the difficulty. Honestly I think I’ll just relegate this game to my “I’ve tried it” list...anything this hard to get a handle on probably is worth letting go by the wayside lol
@skins4thewin2 жыл бұрын
In this game ya gotta be able to block and ya gotta be able to do special moves and combos. Special moves & combos do massive damage in this game. You also need to be able to put some pressure on with your basic projectile. You just have to kind of be better than what you're showing here in general at fighting games. I mean you aren't even really pulling off any moves or combos here.

@@VideoGameEsoterica I hear ya. It just doesn't look like you were really doing much here. It also seems like you weren't even trying to block, which is something basic & works the same for the majority of fighting games. Maybe it's just the game itself, I dunno. Or do you maybe not really play fighting games much? I'd be curious to see some footage of you playing other fighting games, could probably get a better idea from that.

bits of humor in this video, nice :) I don't know what's wrong with your game, maybe parry while crouching a bit more, counter when the cpu jumps with anti-air and generally wait for the computer to attack and counter. it seems if you try to rush the cpu it will counter very efficiently.
@VideoGameEsoterica3 жыл бұрын
The countering is insane...it’s basically 1:1 predictive. The AI absolutely knows what you are attempting and has a counter for absolutely everything. I’ll keep at it. I love how it looks visually and want to enjoy it lol

Biggest problem with The Rumble Fish is that the moveset just wasn't interesting. Maybe it's due to the marionetted characters, but there's no... life in those animations. Like, zero style compared to anything on the Neo Geo or CPS boards.

@@VideoGameEsoterica I loved it conceptually more than in action. It's basically how a lot of Flash animation used to work. Character sprite sheets would be much smaller and updating the art for higher resolutions much easier. The only problem with the execution was that the poses they chose were way too conservative. They basically felt boring.

Lol well I mean you barely look like you're even trying here in this footage. You could like actually do some combos and stuff. You gotta actually try a little. You also weren't even doing any moves. You were only doing basic punches & kicks. You're not even trying to block either. Is this how you play all fighting games? I think anyone would lose at literally any fighting game playing like this. I don't mean to be mean but this really looks like you have no idea what you're doing here & looks as if this was your very first fighting game ever or something.
