Joan said the Runaways was always doomed to end at some point she realized because you can't be a "Runaway" in your 20's and 30's. it's amazing how accurate the movie was during this scene. I mean same outfits here as in the movie. I watched the movie and assumed it was something similar but didn't know it would be the exact clothes they really wore and the stage was basically the same. the camera even acted the same in the movie as here in the concert as in it showed Joan and Lita singing backup at times. pretty cool.

They changed it to "Eat you! Rob you! Until the heart can throb." I think the mention of "throbbing" and "eating" works as sexual innuendo in Japanese. I'm not sure about "rob you" being an innuendo or not, though, since I'm not a native Japanese speaker. If I had to guess they might be alluding to robbing someone of their virginity? The translation definitely took some liberties with the song to give it a more Japanese style, lol.

The great thing about The Runaways is that they lived the life they sang about. They epitimized the bad girl image. They didn't go over well as a mainstream band here but the fans they did have were hard core and loyal. For me, they didn't quite fit into punk genre but more as a "hard" (as we used to call it) rock group. Their music was ground breaking for an all female band and unique in sound at that time.

I still have a t-shirt and pic given to me by Joan in Japan in 1977. There were not a lot of people at those concerts, maybe 200 tops, but damn did they give a young man serious thoughts of the sexual kind. They knew it too! Threw her large cover shirt right at me and later winged a pic that I snagged. It was seriously over 20 years later that I associated Joan Jett with that night in Japan with this band, The Runaways. I scrambled into my closet, found the shirt and pic, and knew I had Rock and Roll gold!!! I took pictures that night in Japan with a Kodak Instamatic that showed Joan in that shirt before she tossed it my way, it was truly the only way I could prove to myself ...whom from The Runaways had thrown it. I was pretty blitzed that night! But I do own some Rock and Roll history! And I will admit this....that shirt had a sweet perfume smell for a long time! Really sweet perfume scents were popular then and this thing "rang the fucking bell!" The scent is long gone except to my memory! And to know it was Joan's kinda messes with my head a little. Yeah, I know she's into women now, but back then....it messed with a young mans head.

***** Hi. I Are you asking if the Runaways could be defined as a heavy metal band? Honestly, I don't think you could find any knowledgeable hard music fans today that would consider them to be a metal band. But the definition of what is considered to be "metal" has changed a great deal since the Runaways were an active band in the 1970's. At that time "hard rock" and "metal" were nearly synonymous terms - and the Runaways were a hard rock band. That's my two cents worth, since you asked. But does it really even matter? They're an interesting band that did their own thing. Right? What is your opinion? Would you consider them to be a metal band?
@nicolesmrekar58667 жыл бұрын
Staying together in a band is a job, nothing to do with feminism. As a metal guitarist, what is metal has an obvious answer in theory. So lets try to be simple. Does it have the core elements of metal? Power chords? Double bass in the drumming? Alternate picked guitar solos known as "Shredd"? No? Not metal then. That also rules out most classic rock bands that kids now like to claim is metal, like LZ and Black Sabbath.

I just watched the movie the other night and I thought it was great. I grew up in The San Fernando Valley and was a teenager in the 70’s so it brought back a lot of memories.

It's funny to watch this. Joan Jett was a minor player in this band and she's the only member to go on to a better carrier. (didn't know she was gay either???)

minor player? she wrote most of the lyrics and most of the guitar riffs. and she is not the only one who made it Lita Ford the other guitarist had a great musical career.
