I've been there. Its the closest thing to dying. I mean, one moment you feel your heart squeeze in your chest, legs buckling due to the strain, and your lungs...puffing like air refuses to go in. Then you remember the basic rule...keep breathing. Just keep on breathing. Then after a while, everything diminishes. You dont exactly become numb. The feel of being exhausted becomes irrelevant. Feet and arms start to move in rythm. Your heartbeat is oblivious to any pressure. Every deep breath is no longer a struggle. You loose track of time and distance covered. So you keep on going. And then you snap just before the end then you realize, your gonna be sore for the rest of the day. Or maybe two. But your gonna do it again. Because it felt that good. 😁

This is the best description I've seen. I'm fairly new to running but I've just started to experience this feeling on my runs. It's amazing. I finally understand why people do it.

You get an arm pump from working arms, leg pump from working legs, but after a run it’s a mind pump. Running is mostly a mental challenge, it’s different from lifting weights. I can also second that a runners high is a real thing🙋♂️
@carlosolivares24054 жыл бұрын
It is very different from lifting, but lifting weights is it’s own feel as well. Doing them both is how you become beast

I don’t know how you manage to post these videos that always hit that spot that gives you chills. I feel like I’ve lost my way a little bit the last week, it’s been more about the grind and not the enjoyment. That I should be out there doing what’s suppose to be a enjoyment. I know there will be injury, discomfort and exhaustion that comes with it. But getting back to that plateau that is the runners high makes it worthwhile. That feeling of your on top of the world and nothing can touch it in that moment.

I'm a recovering addict and the runners high is something I have no shame in admitting I'm addicted to!! I DOVE back into running after not doing it since I was in the Army like a decade ago. And within a few weeks I had already pushed myself to do a 12 mile run and also a 5 mile run with my weighted vest on, just going absolutely hard on myself and pushing myself beyond my boundaries. Welp . . . I ended up fvcking up my neck with the vest on and now I've been out of the gym for 4 days and completely took the wind out of my sails. I'm gonna keep pushing though!!!!

One time about 3 years ago my brother invited me to play soccer with him and his team, I remember being out of shape but I was still really good skill wise but not stamina wise but middle of the game for some odd reason I didn’t feel heavy no more, My lungs didn’t hurt from breathing, my brain was relaxed and calm and I went to a stage of dominance over everybody there and the rest of the game every was slower in my eyes and I kept outrunning people who are faster then me and making goals I had about 7 goals by the end and at the end everybody was giving me compliments and I haven’t even notice what I did until later on that night I checked the video recording online they have at this facility of soccer and for some reason it looked like something had clicked and I looked like a different person I been chasing the feeling for a while now but still never got the same results

I missed my 10th marathon (before hitting 40) due to covid lockdown. I kept running to race again in 8 weeks in Athens Authentic Marathon. If that one is cancelled too, I'm doing the course alone with the only drawback of not having a medal to show (big f deal). Not missing the chance to test the running improvements of this past year again.

Omg i have a crazy story. So me and my friend were getting ready for XC and the funny and scariest thing happened. We got our foot stuck in mud (completely!) and and our sneakers were so hard to take out lol. And the scary part was it was in the woods and there was a swamp like literally 3 feet away from us. We were stuck knowing a crocodile might come at us!!! Ya never know if a crocodile can just COME! Whoof we were ScAreD like really. Our feet kept sinking and sinking, I’m so thankful it wasn’t quick sand which was also near by that we avoided. And then we got on stiff ground with dirty and muddy sneakers, left the woods and whew that was something. To this day we laugh at the dedication. :) Might do it again, crackhead energy to the max!!!!
