I'm glad that I'm not the only one that didn't find this scene emotionally moving. I've read comments about people crying from this scene and I didn't get that at all. I love Stranger Things and the characters are well written but I never feel like they're (the main cast) in danger since they never kill main characters (that I can recall been awhile since I watched seasons 1-3).

YEP. I have other problems with this scene but I wanted to just focus on the music part because that's the basis of the whole thing.

How I understood it is music taps into a part of your brain that snaps you out of trance. (Connected from the music room in ward). So Henry was losing his trance power over his dad’s brain because of the music which caused him to work harder to keep the mind trance which wore him out. Also Henry probably didn’t realize music was what made keeping his mind control harder. The part that didn’t make sense is why they jumped to assumption that it had to be your favorite song. That random song on the radio was prob not Victors favorite song. If you’ve ever fallen asleep watching something there is validity to this. You notice you only hear the music and not the words and usually the end credit song snaps me awake.

I think why this scene resonated with people so much is because it has to do with depression and it’s grasp it has on you imaginatively she was almost taken by it until she was reminded all that she has to live for is worth fighting for

There were definitely themes of suicide and depression in Max's story, and definite parallels in this scene.

Have you considered the possibility that Vecna could have been LYING to El about his weakness? Maybe he told El that he simply passed out in order to cover up his true weakness, which is music, lest she used it against him.

Playing the music to break his hold just reminds me of Inception where they use the music to give a heads up about the in coming 'kick'.

Nice plot hole, definitely overshadowed by the scene's overarching theme, but admittedly a plot hole nonetheless.

What do you think of the finale?

Ummmm, I liked it overall. I thought it had some pretty glaring flaws and some things I didn't like, but it made me almost cry and I liked what they did with most of the characters. I think I'd give the season like a 7.5/10.

I didn't watch the last two episodes, because Stranger Things has gotten stupider and stupider to finally somehow crack the rock bottom and fall even further. Watching this scene was one of the last drops. Everything about it was painfully stupid. With his two previous on-screen victims, he got them into a closed space, and killed them pretty quickly. But with Max, it was an infinite open space, and even when he caught up, he did everything possible to delay killing her. This is nauseatingly bad writing, I might have puked in my mouth. Shows need to understand that plot armour ruins stories, and that it's OK to kill main characters. I wouldn't have been as angry at Stranger Things as I am if they just killed Max. But they bombed so horribly, that I finally cancelled my Netflix subscription --- at least I can thank this garbage show for saving me money.

Yeah I left out the plot armor part, lol. I had the same exact thought.
