The Russians have quite a few cartridges that are silent without the use of suppressors. They have a captive piston system that seals the explosive gases inside the cartridge case after firing. The U.S. also had a revolver in Vietnam that fired tungsten buckshot with silent ammunition. The QSPR (Quiet Special Purpose Revolver) it was intended to be used by scouts entering Vietnamese tunnels. It produced almost no sound and zero muzzle flash. Also fun fact: in the U.S. the ATF has ruled that each round of silent ammunition counts as a suppressor, therefore it is a regulated NFA item. You would have to register every. single. round with the government, get approved and pay a $200 tax stamp for each one.

They already have a ruling on that? Btw, what's a legal defi ition of a suppressor in the US? Because I have a feeling that classifying captive piston rounds as suppressor might go against that definition.

There is just something about russian gun design that is so cool. They really arent afraid to make guns and even new cartridges to fit a specific niche. The west just makes one gun and sticks to three small arms rounds to try and fit any situation. There is definitely something to be said for weapons made for a specific mission type.

I was obsessed with the design of this thing for a good long while since trying it in H3VR; everything about it is so deliberately implemented, from the full-moon clips that enable low-noise reloads to the swing-out cylinder that utilizes the more consolidated frame. The only thing I don't understand is why it's double action. I guess it doesn't matter either way, but it's not like it's going to be used for firefights or self defense as much as it would be for well-premeditated attacks against unsuspecting targets.
@tracker7059
@tracker7059 Жыл бұрын
Still, if it ever needs to be used in such a capacity, especially in close quarters, the double action makes that possible, even if it is not the 'intended' use.

@asteroidrules

The way these cartridges work is funky. Essentially inside the case between the bullet and the propellant you have a solid metal disk, when fired the disk and bullet are both pushed forward, but while the bullet leaves the casing, going down and out the barrel, the disk stays in the shell. The result of this is none of the burning powder or hot gas leaves the gun, resulting in basically no muzzle flash and a muffled discharge. Instead of putting a suppressor on the gun, they put a suppressor inside the ammo.

So it basically catapults the bullet, but since there are no gases pushing the bullet down the barrel, isn't its power significantly lower?
@asteroidrules
@asteroidrules Жыл бұрын
@@marinauder Yes, but to a degree that's actually wanted. In a suppressed firearm you really do not want the bullets going supersonic since that will always generate a sonic boom that's hard to muffle. Low velocity projectiles don't do that and are thus more quiet.

Surprised to see you make a video on this revolver but the Bloodhound is one of my favorite looking revolvers and starting weapons in Bo3 zombies but the Bloodhound isn't even the OTS-38 it's completely different and the only that makes it similar is the way it swings out. The OTS-38 is an interesting revolver but a cool one none the less, though I always thought the top part was the barrel and not the bottom lol but cool to know it has a laser sight. I'm confused why it swings out on the right and not the left? Also what, swing-out forward-upward cylinder? It's interesting to me why revolvers don't have that type of swing out compared to what they usually have? I feel it would be better no? Hope to see this revolver in more games or at least the design.

@@dudermarduder982🤓🤓 In fact, in Ukraine, the Russian army shows itself so badly that the Ukrainian army attacks the militia and passes them off as the army, and after a year of the start of the war, there are already more than a hundred videos on the Internet in which the Ukrainian military threatens with weapons and beats men on the streets in order to mobilize them.🤓🤓 🤓Also, deliveries of the legendary time-tested leopards (actually not) will save this country with the largest tank arsenal in Europe!🤓 🤓 Oh, oh And Wagner in Russia almost staged a riot (50% of the news about which is a lie) And it doesn’t matter at all that over the past half a year Three high-ranking Ukrainian officers were shot dead by their subordinates, these are all Kremlin agents.🤓 By the way, nothing is on fire in Latvia, these are exercises to extinguish fuel tankers, just like in America there is no problem with gunpowder, railroad tracks and presidential elections. I didn't want to sound toxic, and probably I went too far with the text, but I want to say that people who have enough free time to rummage through other people's dirty laundry and throw garbage around everything that they don't like should first of all pay attention to the problems that are under their noses.

Oh yeah. Another service revolver from the 1990s. After the collapse of the USSR, in which, after the Nagant, revolvers were no longer considered and developed as service weapons, an unhealthy craving for weapons of this type began in Russia in the 1990s. From 1992 to about the early 2000s, a large number of models of revolvers were developed for the needs of the police and special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB. The problem was that for the most part this weapon, even when officially put into service, was not particularly popular, and in most cases, after entering, for example, into the SOBR unit, the next "novelty" received a permanent residence permit in the weapons room where, quite possibly, lies even now, unless, of course, an audit has been carried out, as a result of which it will either go to the smelter or to the museum.
