John Twist from University Motors, super quality human and THE MG guru in the United States. I think he had more subscribers at one time, but he is retired now and closed his shop, so he likely lost some. At one time he had call in Tuesdays when you could call him at the shop to ask questions. I talked to him once at on the phone and a couple of times in person at a local Brit car event he attended. Back I visited his Michigan shop with my dad when he was restoring a '69 B roadster and we drove up to pick up carbs that John had rebuilt.

Being British and super used to seeing the MG your whole life. I am enjoying watching this. You do realise this series will never end, as owning a classic British car is a lifetime commitment to things breaking.

The engines in those where usually brunswick green or gold if they where factory rebuilt units (common at the time) and a chromed or brushed rocker cover and other shiny bits would look the part. Keep up the good work

nice I had never heard of this car but now that I see you working on it I am already interested 👍

Clutch plate notorious for rusting to flywheel if laid up for any length of time. It'll come away easy when you remove cover plate. Put it back together and it'll work fine.

Just a side note, a lot of Datsun and MG components are very similar if not the same. For instance, the SU carbs that you removed looked exactly like those on my 240Z. The slave cylinder for the clutch looked identical as well. Pretty sure that there’s some overlap between them.

Take advantage as well with the engine bay. Nice wire clean up and paint would compliment whatever color you decide to do the engine

Those engines look great in BMC Maroon engine paint with the readily available Alluminium rocker cover (looks like the cam cover but isn't because it an OHV not an OHC engine)

I say paint the engine blue. Cyan, Cerulean or Cobalt blue will look amazing with the color of the car (if you’re keeping it the factory color that is). Then you can also tie in some blue accents here and there (like piping in the interior, or stitching in the door cards).

What I think would been awesome is a 4age in the mg but whatever you do it will be awesome love your content
@toxicprodigy52014 жыл бұрын
i think the car would look cool if you done it black but re do the original lines/patent/livery in candy pink, same as the engine-bay, black motor with a candy pink gilmer setup, and a new stainless exhaust manifold and a few more little pink parts here and there, might sound basic but it would stand out.

I love the videos man! Great job! I'm into doing the same things! Leaning as you go. Keep up the great content! I'll keep on watching and giving that thumbs up 🤙on a side note on the engine color.. are you repainting the car? If not maybe go an orange and black?

I'm not sure if I'm the guy or not; you mentioned me the other week in your clutch bleeding video. I made a video covering removing the engine and gearbox on an MGB last year: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYjUi4SOZa2pirM . Let me know if I can help at all with any advice when you refit to the car, the gearbox mounts tend to be the hardest bit.

@willierule37444 жыл бұрын
One of the last episode you were talking about how one of the carburetors is a main carburetor and the other ones just a backup or a secondary and that's not actually true the fact of it is is 1 carburetor feeds two cylinders and the other carburetor feed the other two cylinders and that's how they work together and they also have to be synchronized so you should look into that
@urielRhernandez4 жыл бұрын
