I have a Griffith 500HC. Gone are all the parts that make it unreliable. No more stepper motor, no more distributor and no more vacuum advance pain. Gone is the Victorian era mass air flow meter. Hello to a fully rebuilt engine, upgraded cam, exhaust manifolds (take the old ones with the pre cats and hugely reduced under bonnet temperatures) decatted Y piece, very modern new standalone ecu, coil packs, wide band lambdas. No more mass airflow meter. Runs smooth as hell, dyno'd at 360bhp, gave me 30mpg on a steady run and goes like an angry bolt of lightening!! Its been a dream car for a very long time for me. Dream realised and secondary dream with all the upgrades that were done. All for the same money as a second hand Audi.

I love these Griffiths. Looking forward to seeing it running smooth and ready to belt through those Swedish forests!

I had a V8 TVR years ago and they are really sensitive to plug and coil leads. Unfortunately the underbody temps are really high and they get brittle. The other thing to check is the starter motor leads, they also cook. Great fun when they work!

I recently bought a Chimaera 450 MK3 2001. Love it. Over on my channel I have been doing some updates & improvements to the suspension & brakes. Will keep an eye out for your next video. Subbed. Steve. UK.

I love the magic you weave with these old motors, here is a small tip that may prove useful one day , if after doing points and plugs etc you have a persistent miss lift the bonnet at night with the engine idling, look at all the leads, coil wire etc you could see a spark jumping here or there that will tell you where the fault lies. So interesting to look under the bonnet of that VTR, thank you.

I don't understand why electrics are an issue on TVR's "fiberglass car" . The whole chassis is steel so ground shouldn't be hard to find. Maybe it has something to do with ; ground not as accessible and more ground wires needed with more potential corroded ground connections. Or,, is it the fact that it is TVR😃 anyway; - love to see more TVR videos. Ask the owner if you can do a test drive video. 🙂

That's a fabulous car, one of my dream cars and, as a 500 Griffith, the holy grail of TVR's from that era. Green is not my favourite colour and looks like it could do with some TLC, but you are surely the man to give it Adam 🙂Look forward to seeing it, but more importantly hearing it, once you've got it out on the road !

That TVR seems like it would be a lot of fun once you get it all sorted out. Right now, it looks like it has been neglected and allowed to corrode away.

Hi Adam. If l remember correctly you press a button under the mirrors to open the doors ? The chassis was prone to corrosion caused by being powdercoated. That Daimler VDP looks pristine , don't recall seeing it before...Thanks Adam

That's not correct sir. The under mirror door buttons are on cerberas. The Griffith has a alloy button on the rear of the door. I own a Griffith 500.

What happened to the bumpers ?????? Wouldn't they be needed to past the MVD inspection? The Rover engine sounds nice.
