Besides oversaturation of inventory in the US, I think another reason for its downfall was the inability to change with the designs. What was once popular in the 90s with the huge logos with that age demographic, as they grew older that became tacky

Fashion in general is volatile, and black fashion in particular has extremely limited shelf life. People say hip hop is faddish, but really it's black culture that's faddish. Black people are conditioned to represent our block and our hood, and once the mainstream catches on, we quickly create a new fad to represent our home. For example, if we're rocking Fubu on Third Ave, eventually Fifth Ave is gonna be rocking Fubu. Then all of Queens is rocking Fubu. Then all NYC, then the Midwest and eventually South and West Coast. At each stage, the original progenitors of Fubu are dropping off because it's no longer their style, unique to their hood. By the time LA is rocking Fubu, the Bronx is on Champion gear and Lugz. The only way to make money in black fashion is to realize you have a small window of appeal. Once you start making big money when your brand goes nationwide, you have about 90 days to sell that brand while it's profitable and start a new company. When you start expanding and doing formal and womens wear, you're never going to recoup that cost. Get out before your brand ends up in Wal-Mart.

I used to call on FuBu when I sold media in the 90s. Daymond, J Martin, Carl, and Keith deserved every bit of success they received. They out-hustled, outworked, and out-maneuvered every sportswear company in that space. They were EVERYWHERE: MAGIC, The Source Awards, industry parties, fashion shows, etc. Flying to LA to drop off product for music video shoots. They were the first urban/sportswear company to do 7th on 6th fashion shows. They met Mandela in South Africa. They developed relationships with everyone: fashion editors, stylists, the dept. store CEOs, the garmentos. etc. Black, white, Asian, Jewish, etc. If you went to their Empire State Building showroom, it was a mini-United Nations buzzing with activity. One person worth mentioning is Leslie Short. She worked at FuBu for years and played a pivotal role in marketing, relationship building, enhancing FuBu's image, coaching Daymond (to an extent) to be TV ready, etc. LOVE this video. Thank you!

If it werent for his mother, he may have never seen his dream come true. Black single moms get trashed so much by black men but they never give credit to the plethora of single moms who were behind their child's success, and there were MANY. Most single moms are good mothers but in the black community, the parent who stayed and didnt run away from their responsibilities like a coward get disrespected daily. Shout out to the single mothers who do that thankless job, every damn day, bc they dont have a choice. There most black children grow up fatherless, therefore, most successful black men and women were raised by a single mother. I know that's not an easy job, bc it's not even easy when the father IS around, so I cant even imagine how heavy the load is, for a woman to hv to carry the man's burden. I have eternal love and respect for single mothers, of all races.

I remember when FUBU first became popular around NYC. I wasn't aware of many things FUBU became because it wasn't the clothes I was buying or wearing. It was not advertised in the magazines I sometimes looked at. Glad to know FUBU is still around.

The combination of Fubu and Columbia could be like the end of changes. It's like saying that the for you by you design is by Columbia Regarding how the design of gemstones made with the design of genome sequencing projects of identity and autobiography all using the for you by you, making a Columbia contract could be like the end of the quest for an end design of a version of everything from a corporation, regarding how foot boards can be a science of invention rights and ownership used with defining the limitations of science of genetics and branding. Logic of heritage and personal information when people claim being family or claim parents and so forth / adoption. It could release Washingtons DC and make it a product sellable. It being a Fubu could be the same as the Fubu DC (district of Columbia) becoming Oregon DC or another state. Logic of releasing Washington's for you by you/ Fubu/ genome sequencing projects autobiographer documents and resources and so forth, could be like the first real update for Washington state District of Columbia could also have an update. Social services currently could be reformed with the best solution plausible. Regarding the context of how ancient the Washington's DC is and how the for you by you has probably been highly conflicting. Thus, buying the for you by you/ Fubu and using Columbia. Thus Columbia would use the special edition from another state. It's like the perfect way of saying that the project is fully finished and being sold. The context would be like showing that there is a time based reference for contact due to the reasoning of being absolute upon original purchase. Thus, there would be another district of Columbia in the same place/ house and would be a different state following a state (meeting all needs of anything and everything). The context would be viewing them as a corporation, regarding the district of Columbia through Fubu about Independence/ a union/ group/ state of independence. It could fix history reports about life and autobiography regarding rulers succeeding others by them dying from disease. Same with the businesses Fubu and Columbia. The respect would be for you by you having a corporation policy originating with saving documents of genome sequencing projects of identity and genetics and having a policy of relationships ( like a corporation policy from a specific group). It could have a manual for People to fill out like a formal application process and education of the full project. Regarding signing into the internet formally and not as guests...

That was really interesting, glad to hear the company is still making money. I know music is more your thing but I'd love a story on Troop. They were on every rapper, (back when all of em cept ice t, whodini and schooly d were from new York, so a long time ago!) I heard stories that Nike spread malicious rumours about them being kkk or something, sounds daft, but at the time there was also talk around Reebok, being as that is a the name of a gazelle, and south Africa. Maybe I'm a dumbass but I don't know the inside world of sneakers from a hole in the wall, sounded oddly plausible! And Troop fell off, those leather tracksuits were dope...and they were the first to do snake print on sneakers, way ahead of Nike...

There was an entire cottage industry of "company that markets to black people is secretly owned by the KKK or white supremacists" urban legends in the eighties and nineties. Most of those rumors were started by competing businesses (Coke started a rumor about Tropical Fantasy being owned by KKK, Kool Cigarettes started a rumor about Marlboro being owned by KKK, Nike started rumors about Reebok being KKK-owned, Tommy Hilfiger supposedly said he didn't want blacks buying his clothes, etc) It goes to show how easily you can get people to believe pure bullshit. It doesn't help that most companies that market to black/urban youth are usually Jewish owned, like TROOP. As much as black people distrust whites, we _really_ distrust Jews. Two Jews running a clothing line that stands for "To Rule Over Oppressed People" is not hard to believe, especially pre-internet.
