The Sad History Of The Amanda Trail | Hiking Part of The Oregon Coast Trail -
On January 6, 2018 I solo hiked the Amanda Trail which is a beautiful section of the Oregon Coast Trail. This trail has some really sad history to it and you can almost feel it in the eery woods.

I've been a truck driver for many years and have spent most of my adult life alone on the road, I'm now learning how important it is to interact with people, I'm probably an introvert but as I age I enjoy my time with others much more, I've got too much practice at being alone. I really appreciate your videos.

I go for a walk around town which is Longview Wa. But I prefer the woods. Could be 10 minutes to hours. But it also gives me time with God. 😀😃😄🙂

To answer your question, introvert. I get my "alone" time by either hiking, or by spending time on the internet (such as watching hiking videos, lol). Very much enjoyed this episode. The coast range hikes are very unfamiliar to me.

OMG girl I wish more people could realize when to just stay away from someone, and give them there me time so that they can recharge. Oregon has some nice trails, and landscape. Thanks for sharing your hike with us.

I also enjoy solo hiking. Lately it's been my preferred way to hike. Like you alluded to, I am able to get recharged and repair the damage that everyday life heaps on me by spending a day by myself on the trail. And yes, when you mentioned the effect the ocean has on you... I get the same feeling when I'm at the water's edge. I feel very unsettled. Great hike and video, thanks for sharing.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way near the ocean. There is just so much power and strength there that it is definitely unnerving!

An Introvert here too; funny because I am a performing musician. I have friends I like to hike and fly fish remote water with, but more often than not I hike and fish alone. I really enjoy your narrative and candor in this video. It's one of, if not the best hiking vid I've seen on YT.

I live near Mt. Rainier in Washington and have been hiking, backpacking in the Washington Cascades since the late 60s and was a backcountry skier, climber, and Mountain Rescue volunteer until the early 90s. Since then I've been a fly angler and fished the Deschutes near Maupin, Warm Springs, and Bend, the Metolius, Umpqua Crooked, and Williamson Rivers, but never hiked in OR. I want you to know that I truly enjoy experiencing "Hiking in Oregon" through your work. All the Best to You and Yours!

hey beautiful, i'm also a introvert.....i care for people deeply, more than most maybe, but...unless a person is truly thoughtful of others and loves and respects nature and tryz there best to reduce there imprint on this world.....they kinda start to irritate me a little after a bit, but i love them and respect them an pray they come around....I'm trying to practice minimalism and love it....and i recharge with nature...alone in person is the best but i also recharge from channels like Hike Oregon with lovely you tubers like you!

Oregon coast so majestic! Yep I am the same way introvert at heart I have learned to be highly social when I want to but I feel some of my favorite experiences have been hiking Solo and this is how I refuel as well.

Yes, over the past 2 years especially I have become WAY more social and really enjoy it actually. Now when I think about spending the whole day by myself I dread it instead of looking forward to it like I used to.

I love people and being social, but as a nature photographer, I LOVE to go hiking for photography by myself. I feel I will miss photo opportunities because I'm trying to cater to the folks with me. I also feel my mind is able to open up and sort of meditate when I am on my own.

Hi. Introvert here. Great costal views. I can be alone or work for long periods. Like people too but mostly 1 on 1. I like crowds where no one knows me but don’t like big parties. I refuel by changing from what ever it is i happen to be into to another something different. Look forward to pct

Checking out your video of the trail I will be doing this week don’t think I will be getting the same weather😆I would have to say I am an introvert I was very shy as a young boy but in my late 30s and 40s I have learned to be quite social and except myself and my flaws but always get refueled by alone time outside😊

I’ve spent the last 14 years with PTSD depression and anxiety. I’m very munch a loner. I really haven’t found anything yet that refuels me. Maybe the Oregon section of the PCT will. If not I may have to try the whole thing. Looking forward to more videos and I also will miss you when it’s over.

I'm for sure a introvert. I need alone time on the daily. I recharge with either doing 3D Graphic art, Photography, hiking, music. Basically fill my free time and alone time with hobbies I love doing and not filling my mind with peoples noise.

Introvert! While I enjoy being social I can't function without my alone time. I love to hike and walk with my dogs,.play pinball, cook and watch movies. Also my friend and I hiked this trail today and felt very similar. I wonder if it's the trail's energy? You never know. It was a beautiful hike thanks for the video!

Great video, and beautiful trail. Thank you for sharing! A sad history indeed. To provide an answer - I'm as introverted as that squirrel, and then some. I use nature, and the teachers she provides, to recharge, but it's never a guaranteed fix. Just the sight of another (or more so, a disrespectful sign, such as trash) can negate the entire process. Regardless, solo trail time proves to be the most beneficial.

Rod Theer @ Oh yeah. ☺Have you ever been to cape kiwanda at Pacific city before? You climb about 250 feet up a sand bluff for a magnificent view of the beach and haystack rock. And then can slide all the way down the sand on your bum. I then top it off with a stop at pelican pub for a brewski.

I said I was quitting KZbin at the end of the year. I think most people didn't watch the rest of the video after I said I was quitting. lol. I will be doing videos until after the PCT and then slowing down a little (to once a week posting) once my PCT recap stuff is over, probably around October. Then I will stop completely in 2019.

I’m definitely an introvert but I have a core handful of friends that keep me grounded. To refuel I usually take a day trip with my best friend and just find somewhere away from every day life; whether it’s a hike, a museum, a road trip, a spa, just somewhere away from distractions. I’m curious why does the ocean give you anxiety? I am completely drawn to it. I have this thing where I have to touch the water of wherever I go (lake, river, ocean, etc).

well i am hiking this in a couple of days and we are going a little bit inland to explore some places at Florence. Cape Perpetua is only about 800 ft but it is steep... no one is 100 % intro or extro we all move on a spectrum... we do have tendencies that makes us incline one way or the other... is the Amanda trail connected to Perpetua trail?

Here´s my answer to your question of the day: I´m more the introvert type of guy. What "refuels" me the most ist a good "alone" time with mother nature. Exploring the stunning variety´s of her beauty over and over again....she´s sexy for sure sure! Otherwise it´s to get a good sweat spreading "workout"/listening to music/producing handcrafted gifts for my loved ones or have a talk with my dad. Wishing you all the best from Berlin/Germany :)
