Im currently on holiday having a miserable time, thousands of miles from home. As a fan of The Saint, i put this episode on to calm my nerves and take me to a happier place. About 5 minutes into the episode, i realised i had read this story a mere few weeks ago in the book The Saint in Europe. I love how when they adapt the Charteris stories, they are often verbatim. Very accurate, and i really appreciated that.

@@Retroscoop To be fair, Ian Ogilvy was almost as charming as Roger Moore, and even more athletic, in the role of Simon Templar. Unfortunately, due to directorial gaffes, RETURN OF THE SAINT was not given a fair chance in the ratings, lasting only one season. (I may be speaking heresy, but I thought Ogilvy's white Jaguar XJS was sleeker than the legendary Volvo 1800S from the original series!) After watching RETURN on CBS late on Friday nights, I was compelled to get my hands on as many of Leslie Charteris' original novels as possible, beginning with a re-release of 1963's VENDETTA FOR THE SAINT.

Roger Moore did well in "The Saint" series. I remember seeing him first on the "Maverick" television series about 1959 or 1960 as the "English cousin" to the Maverick brothers (played by James Garner and Jack Kelly). Moore is one of my favorite actors in the James Bond movies.

As young boy in the 60's, this guy was the Mr cool of the T V, and this show was the best of the saint series.

The fact that he batted around a sleek sports coupe, Volvo's now legendary 1800S, with vanity plates, didn't exactly hurt!

Roger Moore had the best job in the World, all those beautiful women, a new one every week, all dressed so immaculately in early 60's style. My favorites were Susan Farmer and Wanda Ventham (Benedikt Cumberbatch's Mum). Lucky bloke!
