ive done that too its a glitch basically its with multiplayer coop if you put the checkpoints the exact same frame with your coop 2 checkpoints will be placed

I think it is just red coin shenanigans. The missing goal trick can be done with a Magikoopa iirc.

There is only two checkpoints. Basically when you collect a red coin, it counts as an entity for a few seconds, letting you do weird entity limit stuff. Because red coin collection resets when you collect them all, you can give the impression of multiple checkpoints.

Holy wow, that was absolutely nuts. I kept expecting to see bait and switch where the ending would be, and it surprised and delighted me at every turn. Top 10 troll level I’ve ever seen you play for me, and I think I’ve watched all but a couple of the MM1 troll videos. Seriously amazing.

I knew this level already, but I completely forgot how well it was designed. Now I really had the chance to see why the level is changing. Everytime he was CP1'ed, his red coin count changed and he occasionally got red coins that were covered with sound effects. That changed the sprite limit and changed specific trolls. But I am still impressed how the flag was there, I didn't quite see where he entered a different pipe than before. Maybe there is a 2nd offscreen pipe in the room with the "Pick a Pipe" with 10/30/50 coin, where you have to enter one offscreen, which leads to a duplicated room. but thats my only guess

Scrolling through the video it's even hard to see how he does it. I'm pretty sure he's doing some entity limit shenanigans with red coins and using that to pick which red pipe you go through off the bottom of the screen, but I didn't even catch the sound effects for the switch so I don't know how it's done. Maybe a Buzzy Beetle that spawns below with a certain number of entity spaces to create a platform or something?
