The ritual got Dream instead of Death because he was already in the real world when he was trying to bring the glasses guy back. He was the one of his kind that was the closest. Dream also calls Roderick an amateur, so it could be he just fucked up the spell and got lucky. Probably both.

I'm white and I love the casting of this show because the original creator was heavily involved and chose to go a a much more inclusive casting than the comics, and totally based on skill. Some white people were mad, when the casting of certain characters whose race was changed the ones I was familiar with I was like I totally see it because of their previous acting I'd seen. actually all of Dream's tools are just places for him to channel his power into, which means that they are all his own power, not the source of his power.
@elbruces2 жыл бұрын
Episode 5 would suggest otherwise.
@mayaenglish54242 жыл бұрын
@@elbruces I think episode 5 kind of confirmed that and disproved that simultaneously... Spoilers for episode 5 It IS his own power inside his tools so they're right ish, but it was the source of some of his power once he made them so they're wrong ish. Because when John Dee destroyed the necklace he released the power Dream originally channeled into the gem to make it back into Dream. Does that make sense? That's what I gather from the episode and listening to Neil Gaiman interviews, haven't read the comics yet, they've been on the reading list for years.

My interpretation is that Paul did not intentionally scuff the circle... But he realized what he did and decided not to fix it. He saw what keeping Dream there for decades did to Alex and decided it was time to let it go. Which I like, compared to the comic, where it's just a random accident.
