Greetings everyone, I'm your host, Nick, presenting to you the first creature designed for Pangeum, my worldbuilding project. Pangeum is a world where magic intermingled with evolution, creating animals and creatures beyond reality. This channel will not only discuss the speculative biology and evolution of the creatures, but also build on top of it an explorative world where stories, about wonders and wars, heartbreaks and awe happened.
This entry will explain the biology of the desert vvyrm (or wyrm, can be pronounced like "worm" but with v instead of w). Although this abomination was inspired by dune, in the end, it was an amalgamation of at least 16 different kinds of animals. So, the biology and cultural significance of this creature will differ a lot from the Herbert's version. So different that the only common characteristic is the arid habitat. The desert vvyrm will be one of the most terrifying creature in the land of The Supercontinent Iydiakara, akin to our Africa.
I hope you enjoy this video, the part two of this video will talk about the life cycle, the respiration, how it can move through the sands, and their similarity to Charybdis, another creature I also created inspired by Greek mythology. If you want to see the part two happening, please encourage me in the comment, so that I don't think this is a waste of time. Thank you for your encouragement.

Pangeum is a fantasy worldbuilding project adapted from mythologies and speculative evolution of mythical creatures, such as dragons, charybdis, medusa, and also my original creation. Told with storytelling style of first person point of view and my commentary on the lore and inspiration of how and why I expand certain story or creature.

What would be different if the larvae wasn't parasitic but was free-living instead? Not for this species maybe, but for its relatives? Or what would be biology of oceanic relatives of this worm be like?

@@user-xi5ej4ox5s yes the relative or charybdis larvae are not parasitic because they're filter feeder in the ocean. Im working on that video right now

@@EtherealEchoesofPangeum great. But I wanted to ask about non-parasitic terrestrial sand worms. Also neothillids ( monsters into which ithillid tadpools grow if they are not attached to the host for cerebromorphosis ) looks like another possible awuatic relative of sandworm.

@@user-xi5ej4ox5s I haven't got the idea to make the non parasitic sandworm, my logic was that desert is a barren wasteland with less food to get consumed by the small larvae if they behave like earthworm. Earth vvyrms on the other hand, might be just carnivorous but not parasitic, because they lived in humid environment and the soil is rich in nutrient

@@EtherealEchoesofPangeum ok, thanks for explanation. The last thing I will say for now is that I would have adult wyrms to mate, not larvaes ( such 2 generation cycle is very uncommon for real animals ). But your video is still very good lol.

sir where are your subscribers??? with all the material only from this 10 minute video there are SO MANY campaign ideas!! The use of mythology to create inspired but biologically plausible and unique creatures with a design that is also stunning is so rare on any platform, let alone with art that is so good (it reminds me so much of James Gurney’s Dinotopia!) Definite subscribe, and telling my friends about your channel! Can’t wait to see what else you have in store!

Thank you, gurney's work is definitely one of my inspiration of making these stuff. Speaking of campaign, I already got two major campaign in mind that I want to make, but let's discuss the world and the creatures first.
