It was written about it last year, but this way of internet connection is rare, so only experts were alerted. More important is the fact that it did damage the hardware! You should have emphasized this better. Everybody knows hacking, but damaged hardware is a different level of threat.

Do you have any details on what hardware was damaged and by what means?
@iphar
@iphar Жыл бұрын
@@squarewheel9113 I think she mentioned that. The hackers rewrote garbage code in the firmware (BIOS equivalent) of the modems, making it so it couldn't start up properly or do anything really. The only way for these equipment to work again would be by removing and replacing the chip containing the firmware, a task incredibly hard to do at scale. Russians once hacked a lot of my city's most predominant ADSL modems. They made it so that every web page in each browser was contained in frames that had some nasty adware. It took a while to realize the problem was not that the computer had been infected, but it was actually code inside the modem. The most important thing that made this all possible for the russians? DEFAULT FACTORY PASSWORDS. 🤷‍♀

Called out the only one who has a working solution as erratic? He seems to have the cheaper, more accessible,more secure and proven technology and he’s put his money where his mouth is through donations.

The attack wasn’t repeatable and had almost nothing to do with satellites.

Wonder if the people in the story will switch to starlink... SpaceXs satellites and internet service is notoriously robust against jamming

But the Russians know the Starlink uplink frequencies. Elon himself has warned Ukranian users to not stay in one place too long or the Russians will locate and attack the source...

Just like the video says, everyone would have to rely on an erratic billionaire whos gone off the deep end as of late. It would be better if there were more competitors against starlink

The world (except for Russia) has got soft, vulnerable and dependent . . . It's mind-blowing that we've been in a coma for decades and it took the Ukraine conflict to start the slow return to consciousness.

I guess I haven't heard the latest news. Americans found chemical weapons in Iran? No, it’s just scary to say something about others, but you were officially allowed to talk about Russia. There is also Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yugoslavia, Yemen, Cameroon. You just now ordered to bite, that's all.
