This is a remake of the song that first appeared on their album 'Babylon' from 1972. This particular version appears on their big 'come back' album ' Black Angel' from 1996. The orignal version may be even more beautiful and more jazzy featuring Ben Webster on saxophone. Thank you for uploading and I love your reaction.... but how can you not have heard of Annisette before? :)

Black and white video with A girl I knew is fantastic. Maybe her best performance.

Hello from a small town in Denmark. Love to see your reactions. I recommend you to listen to some old Savage Rose songs, where you can hear and see a very young Annisette singing with her gifted voice. The two songs (among many others) you SHOULD hear ( sorry no pressure :-)) is "A girl I knew" and "Evening's Child"

Ah, finally someone reacted to danish Savage Rose and 'What Do You Do Now'. Annisette Koppel has such a wonderful voice and this song still gives me goosebumps even after all those years. Savage Rose were on the brink to a major international break throug back in time but when their american record label wanted them to perform for the american soldiers in Vietnam they refused and went 'indie'. Since then their base has been Denmark. Savage Rose is an amazing band.

I've been asking people to react to Savage Rose and Annisette for a long time, so thank you for this. She's an amazing singer you should check out some more like "A girl I knew" and "Wild child". She's still now 75 years old giving concerts barefoot and dancing, truly unique!

They could have been a big band, they were talking with a big record company, but they want them to go to Vietnam and sing for the soldiers and Savage Rose said no,so they lost the contract..,.

The record company in question was RCA. I am not 100 % convinced the main reason for the record deal did not to materialise was their refusal to play in Vietnam. I think Thomas (Koppel) read the small print in the contract and realised they had to surrender all control of the music and artistic direction of the band. Thomas was of course well known for wanting to be in complete control of all recordings and not prepared to sell his soul for fame and fortune. The Danish mainstream media and music industry never forgave them and a few years later the band disbanded with only Annisette and Thomas Koppel continuing as the Savage Rose. They recorded a number of albums in Danish on small record labels and performed at demonstrations and rallies in Denmark and abroad most notably in Palestinian refugee camps. Their big comeback came in 1995 with the release of 'Black Angel' recorded in Los Angeles with George Duke as producer. Annisette as the only original member continues to record and perform.

Annisette Koppel has an extreme output on her voice. I saw Savage Rose in a small venue in my hometown (Svendborg) in 1990. She was barefooted and her singing posture was as on the video. I never get what her microphone was for, she almost never needed it 😂 She is amazing singer, never miss a note or out of pitch. And a sweet and kind lady.
