Very nice. i do major dj shows and mid level production gigs here in Honolulu HAWAII and i do about 20 gigs or more a year that are outside on the beach with this type of view. its rewarding to do the sound production and know that people are having a good time from the hard work that comes from settling everything up. Great job, Stacy and Bart 🤙🏾

You are absolutely correct...the gig itself was great. Surprisingly, we took a soft pass on it for this year (we would have done it if someone else wasn't able to first). This was a perfect night, but between some of the logistics and location, this was a difficult gig from that perspective where if some things were to happen, it wouldn't be very fun. As it stands, our gear got pretty dirty that night.

The Cupid Shuffle seems to be more popular stateside than this side of the Atlantic; DJs know it, but people seem not to... It went down really well at a run of Christmas parties last December, so that'll be staying on the interval playlist, that's for sure. :) It never ceases to amaze me how much gear we can get into a modest size van. I use a long-wheelbase Citroen Dispatch (I think it's called a Jumpy in the USA), which I think is around the same size (perhaps a little smaller) than your van...yet, it seems to consume a hell of a lot of gear. I do a lot of festivals in the summer, which means taking camping gear as well as PA and lighting...and somehow, it all seems to go in there...

When I saw that you were headed to a beach, I was concerned about the effect the sand might have on your equipment. Fortunately, you had it covered-literally. A tip of the hat to The Sound Couple for providing us with another interesting and instructive video. Seeing the two of you handle the challenges that arise at each gig helps us to better think through the way we should prepare to handle similar challenges at our gigs. Once again, I am impressed by the choices you make in selecting exactly the right equipment you will need to give the band the sound levels and lighting configuration necessary to please those attending the event. This encourages those of us who want to strive for professionalism in our production to take the time to consider the various unique factors at a location before we commit to a particular amount of equipment. You came prepared. And, that means everything when you must enhance your planned set-up to account for the different conditions at a location. Thanks for continuing to allow us to tag along and learn from your years of experience.
@thesoundcouple10 ай бұрын
Thank you Dean! We exposed ourselves perhaps a bit this day to the challenges that we are faced with. Once we take a gig, we are committed to delivery and managing the forces that are presented to us, but in a way, we are always pushing back too, otherwise, you will exploited in some situations. We enjoy the work, but not everyday is going to be filled with gratitude with the opportunities we have...but in the end, love what we do! People commenting a bit on my behavior and no excuses, but some things presented that we really didn't get in to in the video. That aside, the event, band and guests were awesome and we were proud to be a part of it!

Plus the unplanned "rush" to treat down and get off the stage.
@thesoundcouple10 ай бұрын
Yes.....the guys came up and were asking if they could help...etc, because they wanted to get the stage down. You can't have chaos tearing gear down. We appreciate their willingness to help, but our gear is expensive and everything has a place. It's just easier and ultimately faster if they just give us some space to let us do our thing for a few minutes. Once we got everything packed up we freed up sections as we could and got things to the ground. @@BAdams138

When you have 6 circuits available like in this video, can you ballpark what you did with the power…that is did you run the PA left off a circuit or split left tops and left subs do you do all lighting on a circuit and stage power on another…just looking for a summary of how you split this one out…thanks in advance for your response and thanks for all the great videos you guys put out here on KZbin!!!
@thesoundcouple9 ай бұрын
Great question! For most bands and gigs, we typically need 4-6 circuits depending on the gear needed. We didn't need stage monitors for this gig, so that cuts down on our power needs. For this gig, I think we used 4 of the 6. 2 circuits for SL/SR mains, 1 circuit for center fill, 1 circuit for stage/lights. We usually run our front lights in the SL/SR mains though because it's right there. So to get to 6, would be 1 for hazer and 1 for stage monitors (which wasn't used at this gig). Part of the reason why we wanted to ensure all 6 were working is also because if there was an issue an outlet, we could quickly re-route. In this case GFI outlets can finicky, but no issues this night.

Hi Sound Couple, thanks for making long videos again. Is Bart in a bad mood?. Sincerely, Kim from Denmark
@thesoundcouple10 ай бұрын
Glad you like them....the length will vary just based on what's going on with the gig and other more recently posted videos. I guess people thought I was in a mood and I really wasn't...there were a couple of things that were concerning me on the side....one which I can share is that I was concerned about our gear. We were put in a high traffic area with little room for people to get around....someone had the nerve to say something about that like it was our fault were they put us...so that kind of stuff can set you off sometimes.

Are you referring to the light "fixture"? Our primary lights are made up different models of the Chauvet 4 bar series. We like them because they are portable (come with their own case)and do a great job for their size. We have 4 Bar Tri, Quads, and Flex. Our Flex are nearly 10 years old and we have never had an issue with any Chauvet fixtures.

Bart, those Furman power strips are total garbage! Furman lives off of their name for many products! There's like a penny capacitor inside and that's it! Take the back off and see for yourself! For the same price I suggest Tripp-Lite Isobar 6 three-stage surge/noise suppressors. They are truly worth their price - unlike the Furman. To protect the switch, take a water bottle cap, drill a large hole in the top, and use epoxy to glue it over the switch! That's what I do. I have had cords and things drop on the switch of power strips and interrupt the show!
