The Incredibles from 2004 is my favourite Pixar movie of all time. And back then, they weren't really known for making spin-off projects like they do these days on Disney+. But! Back in 2004, there was one sequence that got cut out of the main movie, and had too much fun to not be released - Enter Jack-Jack Attack! The SPINOFF short from 2004, telling us the events of Jack-Jack, across the duration of the movie. With Kari set as his babysitter, and him of course being the jack-of-all-trades in regards to superpowers, just what antics ensued? Fun Fact: Pet rats were kept at the Pixar studio in the hallway for more than a year so that the animators could study the movement of their fur, noses, ears, paws, and tails.

This film was the first time I genuinely RESPECTED the "big bad" antagonist. Sure, Ego is very cold, closed, and calloused. But at every turn he honestly has a point. Yes the masses may love the flash in the pan NEW of Linguini's style, but he has spent years watching and guiding the development of the food world. He even has the ability to unbend his pride enough to admit when his first impressions were wrong. I ADORE that he sits quietly and waits to meet Remy. He recognizes that the master chef is also doing his job and is not going to demand the chef break stride to accommodate him. Food has this amazing ability to connect us in a way I've only seen mirrored with music. Considering this idea is being translated to us in film, a medium that does not allow the consumer to taste, it does an excellent job portraying every little sensation Ego experienced in that first forkful. Every camera movement, music cue, color coordination, etc. is used PERFECTLY here. Is this my favorite Pixar film? No. But this is their BEST. And I will throw hands to defend that idea.

_Ratatouille_ is my absolute favorite Pixar movie. Not only is it one of the most beautiful animated features ever, but it's timeless message and Ego's incredible monologue are perfect to inspire any artist.

I think it's less that the old woman is Ego's mother and more they come from the same area: Backwoods France. Remy learned to cook there, Ego ate food there, and so it's an intense Nostalgia Trip. It's probably not exactly like his mother's, but highly reminiscent.

Something else to note, is that contrary to what the chefs said, they really were just following the book when it came to cooking, even Gusteau, considering how his more experimental dishes turned out being major flops, and how Colette stated she learned everything from him, and yet all she did was just following recipes step by step, while thinking improvisation and taking creative liberties was almost taboo Which is something Ego despised, deeimng most chefs' meals that followed that mindset as predictable, uninspiring, and almost factory like, more of a race to see who follows the line best for the sake of business eficiency, rather than the colorful displays of culinary wonders many claimed were experts at, and theres where Remy comes in, someone truly passionate that always put his heart above all else, someone that knew what each individual flavor could provide with great dedication and a constant sense of childlike wonder, and wasn't afraid of going outside the box if it means potentially reaching new heights, someone that truly loved his art, so when Ego got a bite on Remy's ratatouille, it hit home, a sensation one could describe as something only a dear caring mother could provide, something to brighten your mood and put a smile in your face even when you don't want to, something he didn't feel in decades, an experience, which is also something Colette took notes of, as Remy basically opened her eyes and greatly widened her horizons far beyond dos and don'ts at the kitchen

Honestly, I think it’s even simpler than that. It’s a simple meal made well. Ego has probably spent years tasting all sorts of fancy elaborate dishes, with gimmicky presentations and pointlessly exotic ingredients, so for him, eating a dish that’s little more than a bunch of cut vegetables, but made with such craft and care must’ve reminded him of simpler times, when food wasn’t a big show, or a marketable product, but just food. Good, tasty, filling and prepared with love and care, but nothing more than food, made for him, by someone who wanted to make the best dish they could

I personally don't think the scene with Ego's mom signifies that the Ratatouille tastes exactly like his mom's, but just that it reminded him of the joy, the peace and the satisfaction of eating food. One can imagine, as a man whose job is to be a critic, the joy of food is long gone and the novelty of tastes must be scarce. As he described in a previous scene, it's part of "a game" as so much so not something he does for satisfaction he doesn't even swallow if he dislikes it. When one's a kid, one isn't thinking about food from that point of view. If a dish were so good that it simply made him forget "the job", that'd be enough to remind him of simpler times, when he ate in peace and with enjoyment.

That and it could be comfort food. Nothing destroys comfort food more than trying to make it more than what it is. I seen people try to make such food fancy but turn to a laughing stock. Gordon Ramsay’s grilled cheese sandwich comes to mind. For me some simple Fadel soup with a qausadia (not one with flour tortillas but corn and just cheese) after coming in from a cold rainy day truly can warm the soul. I think Ego was dealing with people trying to make fancy food because fancy is better.

This is definetly just an incredible scene as a whole, with such great direction. I would always love how Ego as an antagonist was portrait in this movie and his final monologue, it just felt so real and deep! I think this film is indeed Pixar's greatest animated movie, and i will always miss the days the make such masterpieces.

Personally, how *I’ve* always seen Ego’s reaction to the ratatouille is that he’s gotten so used to luxurious, expensive foods that he’s forgotten how tasty the simple things can taste. After all, Colette refers to it as a “peasant dish”, implying that it’s one of the cheapest things on their menu

One, yeah, this is objectively the best scene of an already phenomenal movie. The way this effortlessly makes the movie come full circle is astounding, and Ego's review is one of the greatest things ever written. Two, I'd really like you to talk about Atlantis if you haven't yet. Id say the scene that changed the movie is right before the final act. The truth came out, the villain is revealed, and Milo is now left alone. The scene from when Kida is loaded onto the truck and Milo berates the people he grew close to by using explicit examples of what they told him about their ambitions is just excellent. But what really makes that scene for me is when they do choose to stand up to Rourke, realizing they couldn't live with themselves if they abandoned Milo, Sweet, and the Atlantean people to their destruction while they lived on. None of them had even thought to go after Rourke yet, so as far as they knew, stepping out of their trucks was a death sentence. Its such a powerful moment that's a great payoff for the camping scene.

This movie is so damn good, it’s one of my favorite movies in general with how well paced and thought out the story is, the themes it covers, and even the stunning visuals. This is my comfort movie that I watch whenever I need to de-stress.

growing up, i always had a love for Ratatouille, and I didn't know why back then. But the older i got, the more I understood. I can't quite put it into words, but the nostalgic warmth i get from the movie (acknowledging the irony of that - but honestly, i think the film got better and better with age.) is quite unmatched. Sure, i have many childhood favorites, most of Dreamworks line-up, in fact, however, the quaint, grounded nature of the movie, paired with the messaging... and that amazing looking food - it had something so profound. It's quite honestly an ageless movie. I think it made me appreciate food so much more as an adult, sparking a love for cooking and discovery. I dont think pixar will ever make anything quite like it again, and honestly, im okay with that.

Whilst The Incredibles Is my favourite Pixar film Ratatouille is by far there most mature and cinematic. I honestly connect so much with the critic in this film, especially with the ending review.

This movie is like an art house feature. A masterpiece that we will forever adore! It’s breathtaking, it’s visuals are stunning, it’s animation is the embodiment of being peak Pixar unlike most recent sub par Pixar films that still has the most wasted redeemable qualities (and that’s the animation), the acting was stellar, the writing is top notch, the plot was amazing, it’s dripping with atmosphere and emotions, it’s everywhere! How come we never got Pixar movies like this anymore, Pixar was like an independent art house studio and not a Disney Corporate machine (well before Pixar was turned into a corporate machine by Disney which we get nothing new which hurt Pixar (and Disney) in recent years). Ratatouille is the best Pixar film I put on “S” Tier! It’s a 10/10 film by default!

This is for me the peak of Pixars history. With an occasinal bump upwards it just went downhill, which makes me really sad that it went from masterpieces like this Epic to today. Rattatouille had loveable characters, story, and moments you never forget . I really hope pixar will get back to this kind of movies one day and return to great stories with a message about life instead of the " message that is tried to press into a story "

I don't think that when Ego says "an average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so" he's saying that a critic's job isn't needed. Rather, he's probably saying that no matter how terrible a piece of art might objectively be, whether food, movie, book, or otherwise, someone put effort into the product. Someone, not them, might find value in that art. It might speak to someone, mean something to someone that no amount of criticism could ever get close to.

I always love to see when a movie has a message that ends up being even more true now than it did when it was released. Things like this movie on critics, Megamind on incel culture, or Incredibles with parasocial relationships are all messages that have become infinitely stronger now than they were at release

@Dazzreviews I was wondering if you could change it up I was wondering if you could go in depth of tv shows. Specifically cartoons now hear me out perhaps you could star with the DCAU. Such as the flash and trickster, the dynamics of hawkgirl and Solomon grundy, and the very shocking moments of the brain from teen titans from calling all titans and titans together. How he went from what we've heard of through reputation to finally seeing how it's not as fake as we thought how intimidating his monotonous monologs are more terrifying than we expected. If I could compare him to anyone it would be a blend of Darth Vader and Darth sidious.

The one gripe i have with this movie was remy’s arrogance against colette through a chunk of it. She taught him how to be more efficient in the kitchen and the talk about how the chefs can come from anywhere, yet he gets all smug when he doesn’t follow the sweetbread recipe and rejects her suggestion later on.

It's a fine movie, and an enjoyable watch every time. But this era of Pixar, almost all of their films were just as good. So I can't blame people for saying Ratatouille isn't their favourite when there are so many fantastic options to choose from.

i remeber this movie, but not the name, they go one an journey to the nord( i think it was the nord) in a zepelin and end up geting stranded but later reunite with it in a foggy night( probably crashes) there was also somthing about a killer whale and a mayor scene i remember from it is that they change the propeller above water midflight and it ends up faling in the water, and a scene with escimos hanging on the ropes of the zepelin. can anyone tel me the name plz (btw it's not the red tent).

Honestly, I think you're doing the scene a disservice by leaving out Ego's explanation of his two interpretation of Gusteau's motto "anyone can cook". Ego explains at first he assumed that meant that anyone can become a great artist, but now he realizes that it means that a great artist can come from anywhere. It's a part of the movie that is emphasixed by the existence and promenence of Colette, a female cook in a very high position of a male-dominated profession. She complains about how hard she hard to work to perfect her skills to become respected, and when she goes back to Lingini, it's because she's reminded of Gusteau's motto that inspired her, but it's more than that. Each of the chefs have a story, and Colette demands Linguini respect that and work hard for it.

I say that there are things in cartoonsand games and I want wrote about scenes that I didn't like or character that I didn't like. The things is what where I wrote comment everyone or most people, because it was hard to find a comment where aren't praise the scene or character. Sometimes I rather wait for video on youtube where they don't praise it. I'm scared to take a risk and wrote something that is different from social opinion. Everyone someting likes or dislike. The problem is when I want to criticize the scene or character people don't want to accept the opinion and call a person hater. But because we didn't like it something from game or cartoon or even movie that you mentioned, doesn't mean that we didn't like that was in it. If we talking about food I like curry dish, but I don't like coconut milk added to dish. I make my own curry where I add sour cream. I think that coconut milk suppresses the taste of all ingredients added in curry dish. Also I just didn't like the coconut taste and that's ok. Some people don't like chocolate where I love it, but doesn't mean I shouldn't like that person, because they didn't like chocolate? Of course not.
