Awesome! Nowhere near enough videos on the 307. Insane patches.

Thanks Glynn!! I'm very excited: my MC-307 arrived on Saturday as I was leaving to see Genesis play at Madison Square Garden. I got home a few hours ago and I'm looking forward to digging into it when I wake up :) This is the best demo I've heard of the strange sounds of the MC-307, and it's really got me fired up to play with it. Have a fantastic day!

If Roland was genuinely aiming to make a dj box with this thing, they completely missed the mark, but it's an amazing, spacey box - and the prog sounds are great!

@@glenesis totally agree. I see it as a sound module with the most fascinating collection of PCMs. But the sequencing probably should come from somewhere else. Glad you enjoyed the video so much, I’m making one about Arturia’s Microfreak now, it’s another one with a unique sonic landscape.

@@gearfacts I'm glad you e got a Microfreak! Even though it's very popular, I feel like nobody is using it to it's capacity. It's a unique device, and I think that has an engine for every method of Digital Synthesis that I've ever heard of. I got mine last year, and I need to play it more often. I hope you enjoy the device, and I wish you the greatest success with the new video :)

Pretty much the same sounds and synth engine as the Roland D-2. Such amazing devices, that need a lot of programming love to shine their best.

Aaah? Yeah.. I was wrong about this unit lol! I thought it was a limited version of the MC505 but that would be the MC303. I thought this version had all the sounds of the MC505 ONLY, but with a nicer display and no smart media card slot.. Turns out the unit DOES have ALL the sounds of the MC505 plus MORE as it is 800 preset sounds plus 256 user sounds! Unheard of from Roland Grooveboxes upto that time. The MC307 does have LESS song memory at 40,000 notes capacity compared to MC505/JX305's 95,000 note capacity in battery back ram and smartmedia storage. But I think if gotten cheap enough, the MC307 is a nice groovebox and indeed it does what it advertises to do, groove.

But no way to talk to a computer! Oh well, that's my only beef and t's not a deal-breaker. I think it does indeed have the capabilities of the 505, and in fact it gets to the point more quickly and easily.

IMO the majority of the presets hide the fact it has a powerful synth engine. Most presets range from boring to silly. Once you dig in to the engine it really opens up how far you can push the sound range. The drums have the 909/808/707/606/505 kits that are still used all over today and the foreseeable future. Add it to your mix of software synths and drums and have some fun.

While I have heard many identical presents on other devices and software I dont think I have heard so much comming from one single device.

So fun! Definitely a voice all it’s own, even in the world of grooveboxes which can get pretty funky. I know it was made for DJs but seems like a good tool for foley or scores or maybe even stabs in a dub mix?

Absolutely. Such diversity. Probably the least-difficult Groovebox to use, too.

Awesome, just bought a 505 and got a hankering for these older grooveboxes. They're cheap as chips atm❤

Not cheap in my neighbourhood, but yep they are definitely still alive and useful.

I kinda disagree with u on the drums statement. I think they're great. Not the best, but still great none the less

Cool - i wasn't able to assign effects to the drum track, maybe that was my problem.

You are the Man!! I was going to sell IT,after spending lot of time must say... It is so complicated and underrated. Arp only is woryh buying IT. Sound engine is sick, three is second lfo on IT!

I agree. For me, sequencing is a write-off on this machine. It's the sound engine, controlled externally, that really brings home the prize ;)

It has many of the same stock sounds as my MC-505. Which I honestly think are very garbage 90's groovebox sounds. However, if it has the same sound engine and editing capabilities as the MC-505. Well, the MC-505 has a modified JV sound engine and you can get phenomenal sounds out of it if you do your own programming...

I like the 90's flavor, personally :) It's all in the ears of the beholder.
