Bodybuilding is clearly a mental game, more so than I ever realized. Mind over matter, in its purest form.
@thesandman13842 ай бұрын
Bodybuilding is probably the least mental “sport” out there. I’m not hating, it definitely takes incredible discipline. But you’re not doing live competition like actual sports. It’s not even close to the mental fortitude required to compete with actual opponents like in regular sports.
@saint_ofc2 ай бұрын
@@thesandman1384 Bodybuilding is absolutely a mental game-arguably more than most sports. The competition is primarily against yourself, and that makes it even tougher. There’s no team to pick up the slack if you’re having an off day, no opponent to blame for a loss. It’s just you, pushing your limits day in and day out. The physical training is only part of the challenge. The real test is in the daily discipline, the unwavering dedication to your diet, your sleep, your recovery-all of it, 24 hours a day. While other sports have defined seasons and breaks, bodybuilding demands a lifestyle commitment that never really stops. It’s a constant battle with your own willpower, and that takes an insane amount of mental strength.

@BabushkaOnuk2 ай бұрын
Hard work can get you nowhere. It's easily the least important of those 3 you mentioned when we're talking about the Olympia level of athlete. You could work 12 hours at Amazon parcel fulfillment, match CBum's workout in the gym before bed, and honestly could look anywhere between Christian Bale in The Machinist to tubby Roger Federer as he won those 18 Grand slams
@jorgemunoz20652 ай бұрын
@@BabushkaOnuk hard work definitely will get you somewhere as long as you’re applying it to a goal.
@BabushkaOnuk2 ай бұрын
@@jorgemunoz2065 Well you need to understand the long term ramification of having exogenous genetics. Eddie Hall used to describe how he might lose 50 lbs off a lift over 6 months, but would come back stronger after, say, a 2 week rest. He is able to harness muscle memory to regain most of his strength. I can lift heavy and get my deadlift over 200 kg and my bench to 140 kg etc. However, my potential for retaining size is so low that I absolutely lose that after 2 weeks of no practice. You have to caveat the hard work principle with "working smart, whilst hard". I was squatting 140 kg for about 20 reps 5 times in 10 minutes in 2023. I repeated these sets up to 6 times. I know for sure that Eddie Hall would never cope with a set of more than 15 as his engine isn't built for high reps. Yet, I could barely max out at squatting 170kg on the safety bar, or doing very partial reps at 205 kg. In theory I could try and do a set of 5-7 like Eddie Hall probably schedules for his own regime. Despite this, I get such poor activation at lower reps that I simply seem to regress. Hard work only zaps resources in most scenarios. It is smart work and discipline that really ties in with genetics and "juice" to get results. Hard work is the layman's idea of progression, truly.

From a videogame balancing perspective, bodybuilding as a sport kinda sucks. It's not balanced. You are born into a body and there isn't enough control for a elite level competition to be anything more than RNG. The only reason bodybuilding has any skill expression is because it's the early parts of the sport where heart, grit and determination matter. Once the meta has been figured out, it'll mostly be about genetics. Compare bodybuilding to MMA where the sheer length and bredth of the tactical and strategical options mean that skill expression is gigantic and any natural talent can be easily overcome with tactical and strategical skill.

ive seen how cbum trains. and its the way I train as well, which is basically sticking to the most basic movements. Why? because those work the best. You see all these fancy exercices people do these days which dont give you any added benefit to the muscle you're training, in many cases even the contrairy. All these acrobatic fancy BS training methods and exercices are just out there to impress people and to give them the illusion that they're going to build more muscle. just stick to the basics and train hard. its all about the muscle contraction, not the exercice

I mean CBUM uses quite a lot of machines which absolutely is considered fancy and not the most basic movements.
