Hello, as an addict myself and equally as curious about the science behind it, I'd say this is a rather simplistic take on the chemistry of addiction. Years ago I would have been content to believe dopamine was the only big player but there is clearly lots else going on. Especially with drugs other than, say, stimulants. It would have been nice if you had touched on more details is all.

I have a roommate who I swear is addicted to saying that I'm addicted to the morphine that my pain management dr has me on. Now bear in mind, that on an average day, even though I'm allowed to take 4 {7.5mg does} per day fold pain that goes above a 5 when I should be a 3 out of 10. Instead to please the fluffy person, I've only been taking 2 of those same mg does per day and my other roommate of who I provide caregiving services to has been getting my grumpy moods because I've been tired and in extreme pain and she says that it's all the bipolar to blame.

People can get addicted to eating or having sex, too. How does that fit in? I think it's a little too simplistic to present 'good things', which are natural, like food and sex, and 'bad stuff' which is bad and can cause addiction. Just my two cents: sex addiction and overeating disorders. Good things can be bad for you if they take up the space meant for everything else.
