I think thoughts but when I go to verbalize them they don't make sense to who I'm talking to even though I don't realize that. That's a hard one because I don't just not want to talk to anyone again. I'm always grateful when I see someone else say something imperfect. It makes me feel like I can still be a part of society.

I hate when people can’t understand what I’m saying, it feels so lonely and makes me feel so dumb. Especially when someone is trying to rush me when I talk, I just want to walk away altogether when people are impatient with me. It hurts. I had an old boss who would get so upset with me bc I worked in a fast paced environment and I couldn’t answer correctly fast enough. She was so mean about it

@@hobolove2468 That’s awful your boss was so impatient. I have the same problem, but thankfully my boss is a lot nicer about it. Employers need to understand that their employees are human beings, not machines. We aren’t going to all operate at the same speed, or have the same skills. Intelligence is equated with speed in our society today, but that’s not true. Thinking slower doesn’t mean you’re not smart. Fast people can be dumb, slow people can be smart.

I have experienced this as well, I just can't use words very well. People don't understand what I'm saying, and I constantly misinterpret what peoples say. Probably a feature of autism.

That sounds really similar to when someone wakes you up to ask a question - “hey, where are the car keys” - and you _think_ you answer “they’re on the hook by the door.” But the person has no idea what you mean, and then the more you try to explain the more frustrated you get. And you only find out later that what you _actually_ said was something nonsensical, like “the squid is in the water.” I’ve also had times of being woken up like that, where I DID hear the nonsense come out - like my brain tried to tell them where the car keys were, and then i literally heard my mouth totally disobey my instructions and spit out some nonsense. Anyways. Maybe what you’re talking about isn’t like that at all, and OF COURSE it’s different when you’re awake and trying to live your life. But still, I wonder if a similar process is happening in the brain during both your experiences and the sleepy-mud-brain experiences - like how some people without psychotic disorders experiences hypnopompic auditory hallucinations.

Just a bit of info. A patient who has Schizophrenia was getting a MRI. While the machine was scanning, she began to hear voices. She begun to respond to the voices and was moving in the machine. The tech tried to keep her from moving but she didn't respond. Long story short, the doctor saw the part of her brain that "hears" (primary auditory cortex) of the temporal lobe, light up the MRI scan. It lit up quite brightly when she was hearing the voices. They are doing more research with this, looking for a connection between Epilepsy and Schizophrenia.

Roughly about 10% of the worlds population have a third eye/ear - meaning they can see and/or hear spirits. To those who can hear/see spirits - you are NOT crazy, your brain is NOT acting up, the spirits are REAL ! I've had this for more than 25 years now. At first I went to the usual therapy sessions and medications just like you. But then the problem kept coming back - meaning the treatment addressed only the EFFECTS and not the CAUSE. So I researched this meticulously myself. BTW, Im a Civil Engineer, used to work in a government office. I have a very analytical mind. And I found the ROOT CAUSE- EVIL SPIRITS. Once I knew the REAL reason, I was set FREE ! I've been meds free for the last 16 years now. The spirits no longer bother me, coz I'm no longer fun to torment. The spirits prefer fearful confused victims. Our physical and spirit worlds exists in parallel dimensions, separated by force fields. The spirits can see/hear us, we can't see/hear them .. NORMALLY. But anything that seriously WEAKENS our body, EMBITTERS our soul, and affects our FAITH in God, also WEAKENS our protective spiritual AURA and allows the evil spirits to communicate with us. Thus, you can get schizophrenia from various reasons like a serious head injury, use of illegal drugs, practice of black magic, or traumatic events like rape, bullying, rejection, total isolation, death of a loved one or near-death experience. Like people, there are GOOD and BAD spirits. We will discuss mostly EVIL SPIRITS here because they affect most people and cause a lot of harm. You can pick RANDOM evil spirits from morgue, cemeteries, hospitals, asylums, jails, dungeons, and abandoned houses and isolated forests. Places of Torment, Death and Isolation. Evil spirits are like BULLIES - they choose their victims well ! They can smell fear, bitterness and doubt - key soul weaknesses. Spirits communicate by MENTAL TELEPATHY - mind to mind - that's why ONLY you can see or hear them. Thats why the spirits can READ YOUR MIND/THOUGHTS ! You can also secretly TALK/SHOUT to them by telepathy- in the presence of other people. No one will notice and think you're CRAZY ! Spirits can also DISTORT speech. For example if your friend is talking to you nicely as usual, you'll instead hear him/her MOCKING you, so you'll get ANGRY. That's how spirits make you PARANOID & anti-social. The speech distortion happens only a few SECONDS ! The speakers face suddenly changes to an UGLY facial expression ! The Spirits TRUE FACE shows !! Then the face/speech reverts back to normal and the speaking person is NOT aware of what happened. Ive seen this many times !! The evil spirits want to isolate you socially. You're their TOY ! Spirits can also SHAPE SHIFT - appear in ANY form (animal or people) they desire. They can IMITATE other peoples LOOKS and/or VOICES and pretend like real people. Spirits can also produce SOUNDS like knocking on doors, footsteps, crying or screaming people, scratching on walls, police sirens, barking dogs etc. Their plan is to ISOLATE you socially .. for themselves. Make people think you're CRAZY .. even if you re NOT. Resist them, Dont give up .. or you're really gonna end up crazy. Remember this, its NOT you but THEM (spirits) thats causing this. Fight them. If the problem is spiritual, the solution is also spiritual ! Get close to GOD. I also found out listening to Worship Praise Songs (via earphones) helps block the voices, even drives them away ! BTW this is NOT a substitute for NOT taking your meds. Take them if you need them. Good luck, Stay Safe and God Bless.

I cured my brother's schizophrenia with allopurinol in about a month. It's a uric acid lowering drug used for gout. How it lowers uric acid is by lowering copper levels. Schizophrenia is caused by a toxic level of free copper in the brain. There are other ways of lowering the free copper, but allopurinol is safe and fast. Now that he no longer has any symptoms, I'm tapering him off the antipsychotics that never cured anything. It's safe to take allopurinol even if the uric acid is in the normal range. You can google search "allopurinol for schizophrenis" and see tons of articles showing how effective it is at curing schizophrenia. Good luck and God Bless

I've noticed there's like a real lack of discussion around the actual science behind schizophrenia in many videos talking about it. Yes please keep going deeper! There's actually some movement towards thinking GABA may play a key role. Also there's some debate on the actual size changes in the cerebral cortext as well as well as to the ventricles and its relation to stress (which can effect ventricle size) and the effects of long-term medication use on cerebral shrinkage. We're learning new stuff all the time so I think it's totally worth diving deeper into!

Something some researchers sometimes overlook in their studies and scans of the schizophrenic brain. Is the effect anti psychotic medications have on the brain over time. I have read some of the brain abnormalities normally attributed to psychosis alone can actually be created by the medications themselves too. I would like to see much more research done on this to tease out the effects of psychosis alone versus psychosis with medication versus normal brain with medication. Despite the ethical challenges this may present. How else are we going to find out the truth?
@gigahorse1475
@gigahorse1475 Жыл бұрын
That’s a very smart question, and researchers are aware of that problem and attempt to fix it by recording how long the person has been on medication, if any. Some studies are done on people who have just been diagnosed, before they start medication. I haven’t looked into this myself, but from what I know, both contribute and differences are seen in people who haven’t ever had access to medications.

Delusional disorders like OSDD or schizophrenia are just “bonuses” we pick up along life’s journey. Trauma is what gives an autistic extracurricular disorders. Constantly having to choose a face, or identity, that you can maintain life in. When you have the wrong face up at the wrong time, um, problems can occur. Undiagnosed autism is a rough. Like there are a lot of similarities and comorbidities too.. I hope more research is done to the causes and prevention and treatment etc. And I know there is a reason that the diagnostic criterias are valid etc so I'm not saying that what we know now and what kinds of treatments were wrong. But like the dopamine deficiency, prioritising difficulties, difficulties with organising and planning things etc.. Ok my train of thought left but yeah. This was an exciting video :)

Having schizophrenia myself and for many years now this is sad news and not very comforting to me. Ever since I was diagnosed about 25 years ago I tried to see something positive about the illness, but there really is nothing unfortunately. Anything positive is inspite of the illness… I guess I’m a fool to ever have thought a diagnoses like schizophrenia could have an inherent silver lining. The silver lining, I suppose, is something you have to manifest on your own through whatever hope or willpower you have left, that the illness hasn’t stripped away.

Different antipsychotics affect the body differently. Everyone who has schizophrenia presents differently. Some are very high functioning, can think abstractly and can make complex decisions. Some respond extremely well to just one antipsychotic, some can be on multiple medications and still function poorly in society. Some don’t even need medication at all. Yes science is concrete but we can’t generalize one’s functionality or their prognosis with schizophrenia. Each person is different with different experiences. There are a multitude of factors both nature and nurture that influence the way the illness presents and progresses.

Thanks for uploading. The trouble with all this is that it's not definitive. You can find all these neurological deficits in the ventral and dorsal striatum, the orbito frontal cortex, the hippocampus, thalamus, the amygdala and pretty much all of the limbic system and frontal-temporal lobes of the cortex and not be schizophrenic or schizoaffective or diagnosed in any of the other psychotic categories. Still there's no doubt a relationship between the basis for mental life and mental life though personally I doubt they'll ever be able to reduce one to the other. In the end the diagnosis for psychosis will remain the signs and symptoms indicated in the persons communications with the psychiatric diagnostician.

This is interesting, thank you. But I wonder, how can it be that there are people who "fully recover" or "heal" from schizophrenia, i.e. who live without medication and who do not need psychiatry? For example, Arnhild Lauveng, who wrote a wonderful book about her experiences. I am also interested in research in the field of neuroplasticity: I wonder whether, for example, yoga, meditation, or body-based somatic therapies (e.g. the work of Peter Singer) might be able to have lasting positive effects on the nervous system and brain structure. I personally found that healing the nervous system and yoga (I am self-taught) helped me immensely with my schizophrenia. So I do think that there is a possibility for the brain structure to change or "heal". I would be curious about your opinions on the idea of neuroplasticity.

@maiskorrel: I think I understand this. At the same time, I wonder why that is the case. Is it simply because, as mentioned in the quoted study, there seem to be structural brain changes in schizophrenia? So one possibility, following this argumentation, would be that these structural brain changes vary on a sort of "spectrum" from person to person, therefore one person might "need" medication, whereas another person might not. An alternative possibility, however, might be that the brain has an inherent ability to adapt and to heal (the research on neuroplasticity and neurogenesis seems to point in this direction, as I understand it). If following this argumentation, there might be the possibility to heal from schizophrenia through consistent practice of spiritual methods like grounding yoga and psychological methods like nervous system healing. At least I think it is worth a try. My experience is that it takes a lot of time, dedication and self-study, this is not a "quick fix". I experienced many setbacks myself. And of course I can only speak from my own experience, but I don't think there can be any harm in exploring self-healing modalities outside of psychiatry.

I am somebody, who was forced into medication by relatives and was severely abused by the stuff. Whenever I was normal again, I was institutionalized again and again. I am pretty sure that the medication makes me weird and after changes in the shape of my skull, I interpreted rushing noises as speech. But it stopped, when pushing through. Now I am on medication again and in a mental facility for life. But I promise, I didn`t have any problems before and everything gets better, when not on medication. I even developed speech problems and my vision got worse. It`s horrible, but they say, not being compliant is a symptome and I have schiyophrenia, which would be worse without the medications. My brain decays in front of my eyes, my body looks like I would have cancer. They are killing me legally and I can`t do nothing about it. It`s torture. I don`t even look female anymore. Obviously, if you loose brain matter, it`s like having an accident. I think everybody should be allowed to be the owner of one`s own body. They ruined my health and looked me into my body, which isn`t mine anymore. Everyone wants to be happy, healthy and free. I never was insane. My livestyle made me younger instead of older - and I turned out pretty. - but neuroleptica are a dark topic. They even say, that newborns and unborns aren`t effected, even if they cleary show severe signs of motoric dysfunctions. Plus schizophrenia is something in the genes - they say. The thing is, studies indicate that it must be the medication whilst pregnant or nursing, hence much more children fall ill when the mother was schizophrenic. Excuse me, but I wouldn`t have given my baby medication and as a kindergarten teacher, I see signs that your baby developed worse than he would be. It`s not your fault. It`s their`s. The newborns are less healthy from the start, but after "getting off medication" (mother doesn`t nurse or the baby is just born), it`s like a baby, who was exposed to drugs. No wonder, the medication is based on real drugs like speed or crystal meth. I would be a biology/german teacher if not being missdiagnosed and missztreated. I can tell them again again to let me go and to stop medicating me. It doesn`t help. Now I am one of the people, who never get married or raise their children. I am someone, who is now disabled. Bodily and since a few months, I guess three, even a little bit mentally retarted. I wasn`t born this way and I faught to hard for my freedom. I dreamed of a better family than the one I was raised in. That`s all. I was just drugged severely every time I got hospitalized and therefore experienced amnesia. They locked me in for months, whilst my brain got used to the drugs. Than they let me go. But as I said, my mother brought me back in until studying wasn`t an option anymore. The police told me all they can do is bringing me back into hospital, hence I was experiencing psychosis and every doctor I asked for help said that they aren`t experienced with psychopharmaka and that I should take them. Probably I was experiencing psychosis. ;-) Yeah, that`s how you get ill, when you are in fact perfectly fine. You just need enough physicians, who treat people far from science without having to prove anything. My family brought me three panties for, I believe, over three months. I couldn`t leave, they didn`t call the police. I bet they just wrote that my hygiene was poor. If you lock someone into your cellar, you have the same effect, but no medication and the victim can talk about her experience and get help afterwards.

😢 Hey, I don't know if you can read this, but I believe you. I also had horrible experiences with those drugs, I can verify that those drugs can cause schizophrenia in healthy people. MD Gøtzsche and psychiatrist Joana Moncrieff also share this opinion. It's important that you don't run into coldturkey withdrawal. If you are out of hospital again, you need to slowly taper it down (like 10% of the previous dose per month). Don't miss a dose. You will probably have to educate your psychiatrist, look for a good one, if someone listens, educate them about safe tapering, they don't know how it works. Tell them about Ashton manual and Mark Horowitz's work of safe tapering. Do your own research. You also should have a social worker assigned to you. Once you are out there, you need to get away from your family. Plan your moves. You may also look into supplements. I personally think that psych meds like all other drugs drain the b vitamins out of the body and a shortage in them can cause psychotic symptoms. (Of course, psychiatrists never run studies here.) Alpha lipoic acid, omega 3 helps to repair neuronal damage. I hope you can make it out of there!

It stores STRONG emptions good and bad, and the learnings behind those emtions, especially negative ones, to teach you a lesson .(don't be trusting, fear dangers like animals, other's emotional states (ie if someone is lying to you and wishes you harm), BUT can also do good emotions. (Joy when she's in hyper mode). The Dopamine really turns this area on. and gives really distorted thoughts to the upper brain. Hippocampus which then sorts it again into the cerebal cortex where the prefrontal is stored for rational respond. Basically where the Inside out cartoon happens. All these good and bad become Rylie growing up. Forgotten memories go into the dump (pruned neurons), strong forgotten memories have some resudue. Or else we can't survive. So all these brain juices (neutral transmitters imbalanced really do a number in this area). Dopamine is a starter "on switch", juice that flips switches on in our brain so we can experiience them, so they also turn on the audio region, the visual region. Hearing and seeing stuff. (that is pro scary mostly (Fear emotion pushing the control panel). yikes. But too much joy playing with the controls Rylie goes into manic hyper mode not good for her, (he's at hockey camp, and hurts her friend, really becomes a go getter getting up super early in the morning (not healthy for a teen).

On a certain level, we have a drug store in our brain, the neurochemicals that show up in flow: so dopamine, norepinephrine, anandamide, endorphins, and serotonin. If you were to try to cocktail the street drug version of that, right, you're trying to blend like heroin and speed and coke and acid and weed- and point is, you can't do it. It turns out the brain can cocktail all of 'em at once, which is why people will prefer flow to almost any experience on Earth. It's our favorite experience. It's the most addictive experience on Earth. Why? 'Cause it cocktails five or six of the largest pleasure drugs the brain can produce. We're all capable of so much more than we know. That is a commonality across the board. And one of the big reasons is we're all hardwired for flow, and flow is a massive amplification of what's possible for ourselves.

Not everyone has a religious component but it is pretty common.

in amurica a lot of the homeless people have schizophrenia. When you see a homeless person you think, "they wouldn't treat a dog like that". And then someone says "but a dog is helpless". Well so is a person on the street that is dealing with serious mental illness. Amurica is a disgrace.Misspelling done intentionally .

Wherever there is a genetic link to a behavior (whether we term it "mental illness" or not) there is a question of why. What may have been the advantage of such behaviors in tribal settings for our ancestors in the wild. It could be for example, that these were the first shamans, the first medicine men and so on, that reduced the stress of the tribe by talking to spirits and so on. As we know that even still today stress kills, this would have been a survival advantage to the tribe. Idk. To me this seems to be a much more compassionate view of such genetically linked behaviors than labelling them illnesses.

It’s so confusing adhd is often a precursor to a thought mood or psychotic disorder and that condition is a result of low dopamine and SZ and BP1 seem to be due to high dopamine. Is there anything you can cover / update on Karunas KarXT new SZ drug post phase 3 clinical trials
@gigahorse1475
@gigahorse1475 Жыл бұрын
That’s cool that you picked that up. The simple answer is that schizophrenia is due to both high and low dopamine, just in different locations in the brain. In a brain affected by schizophrenia, dopamine is too low in all areas *except* the striatum. Dopamine is too high in the striatum, and that is what causes psychosis.

A key factor in their list of questions is when at the park with friends I see or hear things other people don't some people say yes to this question but they may be talking about their uniqness ie noticing the sound of the the stream or the name of a bird that the other person but the other people don't but as doctor asking the answer should be no as pysch doc asking they mean if ever in entire life heard voice they say it's schizophrenia

@huskeater
@huskeater Жыл бұрын
No. My brother died of suicide and I don't hear anything close to him when I'm struggling heavy. Are you asking if someone hears or feels a presence after someone close passes on? If so, then maybe that's a symptom of schizophrenia, but really up to a mental health professional and not KZbin comments or a woman who has shizoaffective disorder vs schizophrenia (they're not the same thing but she acts as if they are)
