Anticipated with pleasure, experienced with discomfort yet remembered with nostalgia. I liked it

I am a big fan of travelling but it does not always bring anticipation joy and all the points the speaker is highlighting. For people with weaker passports the whole process of applying for a tourist visa ,awaiting response is very stressful . Also if your currency is weak then even a small fluctuation causes change in plans. Most of the speakers/researchers unfortunately have experience only of western world and forget that there are millions of people having struggles which they don't even imagine.

Thank you! Good self-reminder. As manager, I encourage & let my team to take vacation, however, I often to postpone my own vacation for the sake of work load. Our Wealth is our Health (spiritually, physically & mental) 😇

Would help a lot if more business owners (particularly in the U.S.) not only encouraged their employees to take vacations, but enabled them to! From my personal observations: one of the biggest reasons that many Americans don't take as much vacation time as they should, is because they have a difficult time getting the time off in the first place. Too many business owners focus far more on profit, than employee morale. American work culture can definitely be kind of toxic in a lot of ways. Not quite to the level of say, Japan, but close...

That is right (well, literally "right"), and here in Europe we're rapidly heading that direction too. From what I can say, reducing vacation days is a very short-sighted action when trying to achieve higher productivity.

In mexico starting your second year in a job you get 6 vacation days a year. I know the US is not the best in that subject, but you don't know how good you guys have it.

Why vacations makes me even more stressed?!

Try not going to stressful vacation. Alternate between "a cozy getaway somewhere nice" and "let's explore" type of vacations.

I get so stressed from taking time away from work so I just don’t do it. If I take even a single day off work, it seems as though the place starts to fall apart and it takes so much effort to fix it that it is not worth taking the time off.

Hmm. Fair point about the health benefits of vacations... but i thought TED has a policy of no self-promotion...

TED stands for Technology Entertainment and Dining. I did not not see any of these components in this speech. This guy seemed to me like selling vacation. Does he work for a hospitality company??? Just kidding.
