A really impressive trumpet is reviewed here: Tony Scodwell, Master Trumpetmaker, has produced a great horn here, his Standard. Some call it The Las Vegas. It's got a very solid, heavier-than-some bell, which is annealed by Tony; it's 23 gauge. The valve block on this trumpet is from Haxon Gakki Co., the valve block used by CarolBrass, Phaeton, some of Trent Austin's horns, and many other custom makers. I use 7 mouthpieces, running from lead/commercial pieces to very deep Trumpet/Flugel mouthpieces, and then I compare this Scodwell Standard to a Bach Stradivarius 43* (Lightweight) and also to a Bach Stradivarius 37 SterlingSilver+ trumpet (which has SUCH a lush, rich sound)... The Scodwell compares favorably to both, I believe. :) Enjoy, and feel free to respond and comment below. :)
