which is wild as fuck, considering by level 80 they have 100% uptime on songs in fights so they have no reason to let their songs drop off. In Dawntrail there's even LESS reason, because now they can keep their songs going even between pulls! (they no longer need a target to song)

16:50 Section with the Reaper buffs. Gallows and gibbet are positional moves that use 50 meter, each one gives an enhanced version of the opposite one that you're supposed to alternate between. If they do stay active for awhile but alternate, it's fine considering you need to build meter. But if only one ever shows, they're not alternating them like they should

Hey Cider, here's what happened with Karlabos in Sastasha Hard: his attack Tail Screw reduces HP to single digits, and if the target also has the DoT debuff he applies beforehand, they'll die. So all you have to do is Esuna the Tail Screw target and you're golden!

You'll want to esuna all the debuffs immediately anyway as it heavily slows attacks and heals Also the attacks that apply the debuffs are in an aoe targeted on players, so spreading out helps out a lot! Basically the fight becomes a very quick target dummy if people stay in a spread formation and the healer makes sure to remove the debuffs ASAP

You can just stun the first Tail Screw without issue. Before the second Tail Screw though, the boss will tether the tank and stun them before using Tail Screw on another player. The tank can pass on the tether to another player though, leaving the tank unstunned and able to stun the boss.

@21:40 Ah so YOU were the Mentor/Veteran, and the healer! Yeah, this one is on you as a healer. Karbalos' gimmick is that he puts a DOT on people then uses Tail Screw (also a BLU spell) to reduce them to 1 HP. It's an Esuna spam fight, rather than a faceroll and heal through the DOT fight. It's quite a unique oddity among fights in FF14, and deadly if the healer and/or group as a whole are unaware of the gimmick.

The scorpion puts DOTs on people, and does tail screw which reduces your hp to 1 (which means the dot will kill you). This means that you need to be esunaing and it becomes manageable

Creech and Chong 15:2 actually. But it was repeated in Harold and Kumar at 15:3. So good on ya! Okay, Reaper issue, correct. The gallows buff swaps to another buff when 'consumed'. Like most, if not all melee, max damage comes from reading the tool tips to understand flank and rear. That reaper, only stuck to one position and by not burning that buff, they never got the other for the other position. And as for bard, you should have 100% song running. You have three that chain together fine, not to include raid buff and personal buff. So yes, low dps because of those.

17:15 the paladin had Rampart on, then used Hallowed Ground but this game only resolves it's effects **after** the animation is fully done sadly. 21:54 the boss doesnt one shot, it reduces a non-tank player's HP to exactly 1 and then the dot finishes you off. you didn't esuna the dot beforehand. i miss selene aoe esuna effect before shadowbringers killed her off

16:10 yeah, both your dps are doing bad things, the bard let the dots fall off very often and didnt know how to use his songs, which make the job good. The reaper was alternating between gibbet and gallows as he should, however, they are rear and flank positionals and the player wasnt caring too much about those, aswell as letting death's design (10% more damage) fall off a lot of times

Coming from a Tank; I absolutely love your playstyle. I fuck with this attitude hard. Also, tbf from tank perspective their are certainly levels of comfortability when it comes to pulls and we are aware of when our fate is in your hands. We're also trying to rush the dungeon and a wipe just means like 2-3 min longer. Hence why sometimes without comfort we wont pull w2w on SOME spicy pulls. Generally, i just try it even if i get told not to do it lol, but not everyone does that. Tbf i think like you that new players need to be put in tougher low stakes situations to improve. We've all been the reason a dungeon just won't progress at some point and we've all veen on the recieving side of that as well. I think throw people into the fire and dial back at times if necessary.

it's the preferred melee uptime strat in Smileton to have the tank pop those mines, there's 1 cast where the safe spot is always in the back of the room or under a mine at the front so i've always commed tanks who pop the mine. and wanderer's palace is a great dungeon, it's also a perfect example of why we don't get wanderer's palace style dungeons anymore. there's a route that's way, way, *way* easier for even the most sleepy of df randos, but it's not the straight line so nobody ever does it and any attempt even with the clearest communication one can do with the in-game tools (in chat at the start, marker on my head while jumping, waymarkers on the floor, the works!) will usually just end up with the group wiping so there's really not much point in even trying.

Karlabos' mechanics are that he puts a DoT on people, and then uses Tail Screw to reduce them to single-digit HP. Tail Screw is special damage that can't be blocked or reduced, so if the DoT is still active on the person he Screws, they're screwed. Clear the DoT and it's mostly fine.

For the Sastasha HM dungeon, a Tank or Melee should Stun tail screw whilst the healer esunas the debuffs. If you have no melee and the tank gets the prey marker, as a healer or dps you can take the prey marker off them to be the one targetted for stun. This frees your tank to stun tail screw. Other than that it's just esuna as fast as possible.

Short version for Sastasha Hard - Karlabos: If you have the Slime debuff on and you get hit by Tail Screw, you are probably going to die. Healer is nominally supposed to be Esuna-ing that, or putting shields up, or something.

Ideally, it gets stunned every time, so you never get hit by it in the first place.

@@Zyart yeah, def good to stun it to reduce some damage and possibly save a life, but if we are talking about the ideal kill the party is spread to reduce overlap on the debuffs AND the healer is removing every single debuff ASAP. The debuffs aren't just DOTS but also applies a slow ("slow" in this game is a huge debuff because it increases the cooldown on your GCD)

As a BRD, I sometimes forget to play my songs. But I usually remember within 15 seconds lol. The BRD you were with seemed to only be playing the crit hit song (can't think of the name while the video plays and people talk, haha). Maybe they thought that was the only one they needed. All BRD songs are useful.

For Qitana, I'd say the Reaper has weak gear, since they're HP is so close to the Bard and healers HP, and the Bard is just dragging their ass on the carpet, because every fight they are dead last in agro it seems.

Regarding the bard, I'm seeing Straight Shot procs in packs, and yes, you have three songs available as of level 52. I'm also noticing a lack of Troubadour and Nature's Minne, which would've seriously helped on those large pulls.

i think they're also meant to mean way, way more to wol as a character, too, and after the upgrade to Cape Westwind and Castrum, they're more memorable as combat encounters, but what bits of the story actually land with a player (especially as a fresh sprout!) is incredibly hit or miss.
