This is awesome. And your presentation can fit pretty much any theory on the motivations behind the battle. From Malenia’s perspective, “let my people go” could refer to the Stars/Moon and Miquella’s plans involving them… or it could refer to Miquella himself, if Malenia believes Radahn abducted him (if Mohg was clever enough to frame Radahn for it, that is). And if it was for Miquella, to secure his future Age or to literally rescue him, she most certainly would’ve brought fire, pestilence, plague and more to Caelid. For Radahn, “my people” most definitely refers to his own serfs and soldiers, or even the people of Sellia. And when he says he “will never let your people go” to Malenia, he’s hardened his heart to her, and whatever it is she wants he will refuse to give. And if he knew what Miquella and her were possibly planning, a future so different from the Golden Order that he held so dear, he definitely would’ve fought her to the bitter end. I also just noticed how well their two Runes fit together side by side like that… as if it was always Fated that they would fight…

God I love all the interpretations you can draw from the song. I'd like to imply that "Thus saith the lord," spoken by Melania refers to Lord Miquella, who tells his twin to send her scourge & sword. I was thinking of making some sort of dichotomy of the line 'Scourge and Sword' to refer to "Starscourge" and "Blade of Miquella" but it was scrapped.🤣

I think she probably did believe radahn was atleast guarding Miquellas location, if u look where mohgs palace is below, it’s pretty much right below the lake of rot in caelid
@samthepigman40696 ай бұрын
Aw I interpreted it, radahn wanted to kill malenia because she had grown greedy for the great runes, in the end he technically stopped her. However, while malenia was away fighting radahn, mohg abducted miquella and brought him back to mohgwyn palace. I also think that malenia had been asleep ever since fighting radahn, so she may not have even known of miquella's disappearance until you fight her. Also the reason their greatrunes fit together is because you can actually fight all the great runes together to create the elden ring. The only ones not seen in game as a part of it are the rune of death and marika's great rune (the cross)
@senskrad58606 ай бұрын
@@samthepigman4069people tend to "villanize" Malenia too much. She wasn't a conqueror, she had already a lot of skill and power. She didn't wanted more power. Everything she did, she did it for her brother, Miquella. They both are the ones who suffered the most (aside from Mogh and Morgott of course), and they were also really good friends with Godwyn whom Ranni killed. Miquella probably intended to bring Godwyn's soul back via an eclipse, but he needed the stars in movement for that. Which is why he sent Malenia to kill Radahn. There's no grudge or hate there. It was necessity. In fact I'm sure that had Ranni not killed Godwyn in the first place the world would be in much better state. Radahn being as honourable as he is would've probably somehow helped Miquella fend off Malenia's rot which had been destroying her since birth

i honestly love how radahn is singing both parts… it shows how both of them were essentially the “bad guy” in different stories (radahn halting the stars and stagnating fate, malenia potentially inadvertently rotting caelid) and the great runes at the end are an amazing touch

Thanks! I wanted to represent Melania as a relentless force driven by one goal, whereas Radahn who's the one getting invaded ultimately decides if Malenia won't let his people go; he won't let her's (The Redmane knights fight to this day to contain the rot.) It was very tricky trying to compromise with the song since the singer's are both men and the position of power is different as Malenia is calling down the plague, but she won't be lamenting about the land being her home like Radahn.

@VIRTKOS2 ай бұрын
@@simplythecat4068 That contrast is written down to his character. Since the very beginning on the first trailer, they portrayed Radahn as an intimidating and brutish leader (which he partly is) but in reality, he had compassion for his horse, a few pets and even was one of the most intellectual demigods, given he was a Carian.

Im hoping for more details about why this fight happened in the DLC. Since i feel Malenia gets too much shit and Radahn seems too good of a demigod to not have some dirt behind him Edit: This is me after the DLC...I may have been wrong. But i still have the same headcanon that Radahn was more passionate about war than his promise with Miquella. But being a man of his word (likely) I assume it was none of the reasons he stopped the stars. Another being to stop Ranni's plans and because stopping the stars is a glorious thing to do. But he WANTED to fight more. I imagine Miquella was like "Wtf you promised!" And made a sort of Plan B. Being what happens in the DLC, then sent Malenia to go kill him but it was a stalemate. But that's just a personal Headcanon I wanted to share. Basically, I think Radahn stopped the stars partially to postpone his marriage and fight. Thus, Malenia went and gave him a hell of a fight.
@ethanwashington67896 ай бұрын
theres been a pretty solid theory ive seen that malenia tried to kill radahn so that the stars (and more importantly, the moon) could align for miquella's eclipse
@thedoctorofcringe056 ай бұрын
@ethanwashington6789 I heard that theory too. I hope there's some more evidence to at least imply it more.
@ethanwashington67896 ай бұрын
@@thedoctorofcringe05 yeah the only thing odd about it to me is that malenia (not to get into the whole malenia vs radahn thing) clearly believes she won the fight, which would mean she achieved whatever goal she had in the battle of aeonia. But if her goal was to resume the movement of the stars, she definately failed. Thats the only thing keeping me from believing the eclipse theory atm. For all we know she might actually just be in denial though, elden ring characters seem more "real" in that way than in the older games
@thedoctorofcringe056 ай бұрын
@ethanwashington6789 I think Malenia. And this is out of the blue. I don't really have evidence but it's a headcanon. Uses Pride as a sort of coping. Being a demigod with "The Severed" as her title probably made her feel horrible. I know I would. So maybe she is aware. And repeats she "Has never known defeat" I'm very much not the best person to understand many mental issues. And this is still a head canon to me anyhow
@ethanwashington67896 ай бұрын
@@thedoctorofcringe05 well its pretty much directly stated that millicient is the discarded pride of malenia (ephael prayer room dialogue i think?), so if shes in denial its probably not a matter of pride but rather just intense shame. Like, imagine carving a war path through multiple lands for your little brother's plans, nuking an entire region, discarding your pride and other aspects of your personality (based on millicient having sisters), then not achieving your brothers goal anyways. Only to find that when you return, he's been kidnapped and is very likely dead. I think that would put almost anyone in denial lol

I know you chose to subtitle it “sister” instead of brother.. but honestly, it would make sense for it to be brother as well. It’s pretty much agreed on that Malenia attacked Radahn under Miquellas orders. Miquella is known to compel affection. I could only imagine how his “bro chad dude guy” brother felt about him when he was young.. he probably loved him fiercely and wanted to protect him at all costs… which makes this interpretation hit even harder. That is why she is called “the blade of Miquella.” When he chooses violence, he sends his sword, his sister. It’s his decision to kill Radahn, not Malenia’s. I like to think that Miquella tried to reason with Radahn at first. Explaining to him his plans to rewrite the world. Radahn obviously, from in game text, we know he was fighting for the golden order when he fought Malenia, that’s why he was holding back the stars - doing this would stop any and all destinies from ever happening. The best thing about this story, is that no one is really “the bad guy.” They are all acting on what they believe to be the right choice…
@VIRTKOS6 ай бұрын
What a great way to interpret it. I also at one point interpreted the term 'brother' to refer to Miquella, with Radahn arguing to the Unalloyed Lord in spirit whilst he is presently fighting Malenia who is sending her scourge on behalf of her brother (Thus saith the Lord"). There's so many avenues that you could take this, I love discussing about it! If there were present models of Miqeulla, I would have definitley wanted to have shots of him somewhere to have Radahn refer to him. Then we'd have the whole cast.
@VIRTKOS6 ай бұрын
Another avenue depends on whether the invasion of Caelid happened prior or after the kidnapping of Miquella by Mohg. If it was prior, then it would be under the Miquella's orders as discussed. But if it was after; then it would have been a deadly misunderstanding from Malenia who wanted to rescue her brother.
@trustmeits610pm23 ай бұрын
In the iconic cutscene where Radahn is standing there with his arms crossed, I think it's clear he just defeated Malenia (first phase at least). She has to pop her prosthetic back in due to the beating he gave her. Yet he laid down his weapons after having done that. Why would he disarm himself? Because as far as he knew, he had won. There's no dialogue... but I think Radahn was speaking to Malenia, asking for surrender. He didn't want to kill her. He never did. He might have even offered Game of Thrones-esque terms. Offering to raise her and Miquella to positions of power in his new regime. They could rule with him. As long as they acknowledged he was Lord. Poor, prideful, kind-hearted Radahn. Little did he suspect Malenia had a nuke in her pocket.
